is Dhalgren by Sam Delany the successor to Joyce and Ulysses

does it even surpass Ulysses?

I found Dhalgren to be a enjoyable read... It is nowhere near Ulysses in terms of complexity & difficulty.

I haven't read Finnegans Wake so I can't really speak to it...

i want to try Dhalgren, but i wasn't able to finish Ulysses...and if this book is as complex as Ulysses i don't think i can do it essentially which is why i asked about the comparison

It's way easier to read than Ulysses.
