You're good for both of these - and thanks for telling us about the titles that prompt the inquiry!

Thanks! I sort of miss writing reviews, even though I'm not good at it. Anyway, I'm enjoying taking a break from novels this challenge and reading a lot of short stories and biographies.

"Patricia graduated from Montana State University with degrees in history and German and she worked for a while as a substitute teacher. "

Very good!

That's probably not the kind of engineer they had in mind when they made the list, but we'll take it.

Yes - yet another author that has never crossed my radar!

Yes, we have accepted that kind of teaching position for others, so for Vonnegut also.

I checked the spreadsheet and didn't see him, so was going through the article so that I could confirm .. perhaps the radio is too distracting ( my husband is being interviewed today), or perhaps my daughter and her friend playing Minecraft, as I am just not seeing it.

First paragaph under heading "Otherworldly Genius":
"Lester Goran, a creative writing professor at the University of Miami and a distinguished fiction writer himself, met Singer in 1978, shortly before the Nobel Prize. He had been asked to introduce the great Yiddish author at a reading at the Coral Gables campus; that event led to Singer teaching at UM for 10 years, with Goran as his friend and translator."
