I'm a little over halfway through Hell's Heroes by Darren Shan, and I just started The Autumn Republic by Brian McClellan.
Helen wrote: "I enjoyed Autumn Republic. I'm reading The Dragon's Path."Loved both those books. So excited for The Spider's War!!
Probably about to start Abaddon's Gate - James S.A. Corey after finishing The Black Company - Glen Cook
I'm reading Gardens of the Moon for the group read. Fingers crossed I'll actually get past the first book in the series this time! Also, for something different, I've borrowed a couple of recent thrillers from my local library. Starting with Disclaimer, which hasn't wowed me so far, but I'll give it a bit more of a chance.
Also loved The Autumn Republic! I'm about halfway through The Gunslinger and then I'll start Gardens of the Moon.
Getting back into the fantasy swing of things with Rules of Ascension. I've not read anything by David B. Coe before, and this was quite literally the first book I came across at HPB that wasn't > Book 1 of a series.
finished: Stone of Farewell, good series, in depth characters and world. Taking a break before starting the finale of the trilogy. Reading: Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master

Magician was a good quick read. The prose was a bit basic, but the story was fun.
I'm already halfway through The Last Wish. Quite enjoyable. Not sure what I want to pick up next, something from my A-Z list, the next book in the First Law or Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series, or just something else on my TBR stack.
I just finished reading The Sage, the Swordsman and the Scholars: Book I of Trials of the Middle KingdomIt's a historical Fantasy set in Medieval China. This book was refreshing and very entertaining to read. Highly recommended! Can't wait for the sequel... and unfortunately, I dont' know when it will come out :'(
I'm finishing the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy, currently 25% into To Green Angel Tower, Part 2. After that, I have a bunch of books that I bought during the 50%-off sale at Kobo bookstore. In my reading queue: Fool's Quest, The Skull Throne, Shadows of Self, The Republic of Thieves, and Before They Are Hanged.

They're very good, but probably not the best place to start -- I'd be more inclined to suggest either The Complete Morgaine or Fortress in the Eye of Time for fantasy, or Merchanter's Luck or The Pride of Chanur for SF.
:) as usual (but completely coincidentally, as almost always) I´m reading the 2nd book of the series, River of StarsCan´t really remember when I´ve started the series from the book one on purpose (not counting manga and comics).

Thanks for the suggestions!
Just finished The Last Wish and really enjoyed it. Traditional Sword & Sorcery fantasy but with an original gothic/fairy tale twist to it. I'll gather my thoughts then write a review.Brought an extra book to poke through on the bus ride home because I figured I'd finish off The Last Wish. Gonna read a few Scottish Folk and Fairy Tales.
I finished The Snow Queen yesterday and IMO this is a wonderful tale that meshes fantasy and sci-if as well as I've seen It written. Moon, the main character, is good hearted and quite likeable and Sparks, her love interest, doesn't really deserve her. However, things really flow together at the end. It has a lot of bitter-sweetness in the end but the book was overall very satisfyingly and a pleasure to read.
Finished A Dance with Dragons. Not gonna lie, it was kind of a struggle. Shifting gears to something much lighter and fun, Mort. Really enjoying it so far.
Finished The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken which I very much enjoyed. Looking forward to continuing the series On Abaddon's Gate - James S.A. Corey right now and loving it. This series is becoming a favorite

I had really mixed feelings about A Dance with Dragons. I still enjoy Martin's writing style, but with the last couple of books I've felt he's tried to expand the story too far. The plot just seems to meander too much, and then you get the problem of characters disappearing for ages, sometimes for entire books.
I am on my 3rd re-read of Janny Wurts' Wars of Light and Shadow. STILL getting new details and hints and references missed on the first two readings and just LOVING IT!
I am still reading The Wise Man's Fear. I have also been taking breaks from it and reading some comic books. JSA, Vol. 1: Justice Be Done and JSA, Vol. 2: Darkness Falls. After The Wise Man's Fear I will take a break from fantasy all together and read Go Set a Watchman. After that I will come back and read The Mists of Avalon or Mistborn: The Final Empire. I would be happy to hear what people think about either of the two books.

I'm reading Traitor's Blade, just finished Rot & Ruin and I'm planning to start Dust & Decay some zombie fantasy! I also started American Gods - I'm buddy reading this one with Bookish Buddies. I had started Gardens of the Moon and left it in the middle, so now that I saw is a March read for Fantasy book club I think I might restart it.

I actually gave up on A Dance With Dragons when I tried reading it initially. To be fair I wasn't exactly in a fantasy mood at the time, but it also just disappointed me. I waited so long for A Feast for Crows to be disappointed, with another long wait, and my hopes high for a new instalment I was even more disappointed with a Dance With Dragons (as I do love the first 3). I'll probably re-read it one day.
I have a few books on the burner right now. Just started Samuel R. Delany's Tales of Nevèrÿon for my bus ride to and from work, while I started reading Blue and Gold whilst at home (it's a signed limited edition and I don't bring those out of the house!).
Just finished gathering my thoughts and writing up my review for The Last Wish (Which I'd finished Friday):https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished The Lies of Locke Lamora. 5 stars cause I absolutely loved it.Currently speeding through the Tyrant's Law by Daniel Abraham and of course I am enjoying it.
I also started reading Gardens of the Moon 1 chapter at a time, and using Tor's Malazan Re-Read of the Fallen to guide me for as long as I need it

Which one? Hell's Heroes was pretty intense and had a good ending. I kind of wished I could have seen a little more of the aftermath, but it was still satisfying.
As for Autumn Republic, I'm loving it so far. I'm about 20% done with it, and it looks like the big battle is about to begin. I'm excited!

I really want to pick up The Lies of Lock Lamora, I'd read a short from Lynch in an anthology and it blew me away, and I want to check out some Abraham soon too. Nice to hear a good reviews.
Currently reading:Death Angel's Shadow
Un Lun Dun
Ghost Story
Wytches, Vol. 1
Having trouble getting through Un Lun Dun, I'm about 100 pages in and it's not keeping my interest. Surprising, as I generally like China Mieville.
Ghost Story is a reread, so it's not getting as much attention as it probably should, I only pick that up when I'm between other books.
Death Angel's Shadow is a fast read, and I'm loving it.
I just started Wytches, but like what I've read so far.

I was talking about Autumn Republic I love this book! I finished it last week, it's amazing!
What I like about Scott Lynch's writing is the humor and unconventional characters. But another thing I noticed myself liking is that he has these interludes written throughout the book on the relevant history of the world or past of the character, and because of this the flow of the story isn't interrupted by needing to explain things in the moment. You already know the backstory and it helps you enjoy the current scene even more.
Finished Yvgenie and, just for the heck of it, started a Pathfinder Tales novel, The Worldwound Gambit by Robin D. Laws.
Joshua wrote: "I loved American Gods. It might be one of my favorite books. Got a review copy of Snakewood, it was a struggle to get into. But it has gotten better and I'm well and truly hooked now. After that I'm moving on to American Gods and then Magician after that.

Yes it is kinds of strange but it will all start to make sense. I would say you are at the point when it will start making more sense.
I´m reading River of Stars and I´m enjoying it more than I expected. I read it everyday when going to university and back home. I do not read it at home.Otherwise I have lots of books I need to read for university and I finish one in a day or two but I also must make notes and then be prepared for disscusion so it´s kinda too much to mention here :(
And after one is done, there comes the next one so there´s never really the end to them
I just finished
The Last Days of Magic by Mark Tompkins. I absolutely loved it and gave it five enthusiastic stars. Celts in 1300's Ireland fighting off the English, this book was a mix of legend, folklore, religion and some real historical events. Magic, faeries, monsters....really great read.Next up:
Forge of Darkness by Steven Erikson.
I'm halfway through both The Eye of the World and The Dragonbone Chair, but my library hold that I placed a couple months ago for The Name of the Wind just became available and I only get that for two weeks, so I started that last night. So hopefully I can finish that during the loan period and then I'll be ahead of the game for the April book of the month. :P
I am really enjoying Tales of Nevèrÿon so far. Very different than I had anticipated. This is definitely a case of not judging a book by it's cover, the copy I have sports a standard barbarian sword & sorcery/borderline harlequin romance type cover, but what is inside is an insightful read. The fantasy setting is mostly Delany's vehicle for a story rife with philosophizing and societal observations.

Good books though.
