Rachel wrote: "Hi, all. I hope you are doing well today! :) Quick Question: does anyone know of any cool challenges that are happening soon, since this one is almost over?"
Rachel, there are a few challenges starting at AAMP Game Night, https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Ok for April and Hand 1, I just started reading While You Were Mine by Ann Howard Creel. So far I can tell it goes with Card 9 (because it takes place in New York.)
And just to be clear are we done with March? Did we have to complete hand 13 entirely by March 31, to receive the points? Or do we receive the points for the 3 books completed. Mine has not been input yet. Sorry to be a pain
I finished Vanishing Acts 2 days ago. I meant to get on here and share that, but I had an extremely busy day Yesterday. I'm sorry it took me so long to get back on here and post anything.
I'm going to be reading One Plus One by Jojo Moyes which would work for the number 1 of course. :) I am also planning to read The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom which would work for a Skip card.
Lisa wrote: "And just to be clear are we done with March? Did we have to complete hand 13 entirely by March 31, to receive the points? Or do we receive the points for the 3 books completed. I know that the captains have a little time to update the spreadsheet after the last day of the month (at least they did last year), so thinking the 3-4 books we posted that aren't in the spreadsheet will still be counted. They just had to be read and marked by the end of the month.
Ashley wrote: "I'm going to be reading One Plus One by Jojo Moyes which would work for the number 1 of course. :) I am also planning to read The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom which would work for a Skip card."I've been debating reading that one, the mixed reviews have left me waiting.
I finished reading the Goldfinch a couple of days ago too just hadn't had the time to come here and post it.
Sorry guys. I've been unwell over the last couple of days.
I've sent PMs to a few of you to get books on the correct shelf or to get a start date put on.
We've done really well. We've finished all the hands and the March mini-challenge. We also found 12 out of the 20 words for the Easter mini-challenge.

Hope you feel better Pigletto!Whoo hoo, we're doing great :D
So what was your favorite read of the challenge last month?
Red Rising was mine, which kind of surprised me since the early middle of the book wasn't working for me, but then I was just so invested in those characters by the end!
Ooh! That's a good question.
Mine was Bird Box. Not a gory story like some horror books. Really creepy though.

So many of my GR friends have also loved Bird Box, but I've been leery of it because I'm not a horror person...can't even watch movies anymore!
Misery was my favorite book of the month. With the pop ups of psychological thriller since Gone Girl.Misery for me was the best.
I love horror and thriller and usually nothing bothers me. But Bird Box. Yup. That book made me cringe. I don't know if it's on my shelf, but I'm actually writing the review now......and suggesting reading in daylight haha.

A bit of a sad story, not as strong as book one.

So, I know most of you only share books with me in passing. I am trying to share with you guys a little about me, I could not tell such a horror story in one go...so it will be like a mini read, Please follow my journey with me as well. Here's the link to the first small part,,, http://emergencyrn.org/2016/04/03/tak...

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
4 stars
Cards it fits: 0 (stand alone), 1 (character named Oscar), 2 (title starts with T), 6 (character named Susie), 7 (character named Vanessa), Skip (character surname Prescott)
Slow burn and a man in emotional lockdown...of course I'm going to love it. I loved Aidan and Van, I always want that special woman/man to find the key to breaking into the emotional fortress...it makes me all gooey inside :D
It could have been edited down a bit (some repetition), but I still really enjoyed these characters. Second book from this author, and moving onto the next book of hers soon!
I've finished listening to the audiobook of Northanger Abbey. Juliet Stevenson was a fantastic narrator.
We've completed our first hand. Yay!
Pigletto wrote: "I've finished listening to the audiobook of Northanger Abbey. Juliet Stevenson was a fantastic narrator."I've been wanting to revisit some of the classics, wondering if I will still love them as much as I did the first time.

Yeah, Snowtulip. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm going next week, after I finish the other two books I got from the library, to borrow the third book in the series. I'm really excited. I hope, in the end, that Rose and Dimitri get together. :)

For me, the series just seemed to continue to get better.
No spoilers for you ;)
Pigletto wrote: "Finished The Shrinking Man. This was really good - 5 stars."Oh, 5 stars!! I've only read I Am Legend from him, made me cry...might have to give this one a go.

[book:The W..."
Wow! You read fast.
I was in the right mood for that type of book and I couldn't sleep (love my kindle)...but hopefully tonight I will get all my beauty sleep :D Or I'll be useless at work tomorrow!I also listen to audiobooks on my commute, while I clean, and exercise...my reading volume went up once I finally took the step with audio...but my music listening has suffered :(
I love my Kindle also... Yes!!! I read most commuting to and from work ( work in Manhattan and live in Queens, NYC). I have 2 young ladies ( 16 & 22) and I cant believe they want more attention older than when they are younger. smh. And the hubby, oh boy. Right now he is sleep so I can get a little reading in before I go to sleep
Hello all,Here are the titles that I have on my to-read list for this month. I have them downloaded as audio books on my phone and marked as currently reading on GR but I actually haven't started on any of them as of yet.
White Oleander
A Storm of Swords ( Third book in the series)
The Fellowship of the Ring (first of the series)
The Buddha in the Attic
The Atlantis Complex

I'm okay with no spoilers. I plan on reading them all within the next two weeks anyways. :) I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I hope I continue to like the series also.

A Storm of Swords is the next in the series for me, on the audio waiting list at the library, but hoping it comes soon while everything is still fresh in my head :)
I just finished While You Were Mine byAnn Howard Creel. Can be used for Card - 9 takes place in New York
also for hand 3 card (B6) I can read the book Cress byMarissa Meyer. more than 50% of the cover is blue and it has a character named Scarlet. Let me know if ok.
I've asked about Cress in the colour check thread in the captain's group. I think it's good to get confirmation just in case.
That series is really good for this game each book matches several cards.

Apple and Rain
2 stars
A key tenant of my reading experience is that I have to be invested in the characters. Unfortunately, I never really became invested in Apple's life and really kept hearing the same tune from her. The story itself was very flat, and you always know where the story is going (which would have been fine if I had some sort of character investment). It was an ok read, with my favorite being Rain...would have liked her POV.
Cards it fits: 0 (stand alone), 2 (character named Trish), 3 (surname Holloway), 5 (character name Iona), 6 (author Sarah), 8 (character name Egan), Skip (character name Pillar)

(I am so confused right now) hahaha I need more coffee..."
Lisa, I looked for that question yesterday, this is what I found (looks like you can start now and will count for April if you finish in April):
Books can count for April that are marked as read from April 1, 2016 at 7pm AEDST. (They can be started at anytime from the start of the challenge, i.e. March 1)
