xGvJx | 22 comments I started on Book 2 last night, and I'm loving it so far! I just wanted to stay up all night and read on, but I was too tired, and work is too demanding these days. Looking forward to getting home and picking it up again!

More vintage than that--1818. See: A little book called Frankenstein.

Dara I'm a bit wary of this book now. I love Charlie Jane Doe but the ebook price held me back and now I'm more uncertain.

Dara I thought Charlie Thomas Jane was great in The Expanse.

Andrew Stadler | 7 comments @tom Why was this picked? If it was in the podcast I missed it.
Great pick though, I wouldn't of read it on my own and really enjoyed it

Ju Transcendancing (transcendancing) Delighted that this month's pick is already on my 'to-read' list and has been rec'd all over the place! Just started it last night and I'm enjoying it a lot so far.

Because I'm a fan.

Rob (quintessential_defenestration) | 1035 comments Who doesn't love Charlie Jeff Vanders? It feels like everyone in the SFF community has been touched in some way by io9.

Elizabeth | 34 comments I put it on my to read list but $12.99 for Kindle edition...might be a while before I'm willing to buy it.

Ju Transcendancing (transcendancing) I'm really enjoying the book so far - I am glad I bought it.

Richard | 99 comments I finished the book awhile ago, and I've just been letting my thoughts stew because I liked it a lot, but something didn't click, and I think after listening to this weeks podcast i finally figured out what it is, and it has to do with a disconnect between the first half of the book and the second half of the book in terms of the certain secondary characters.

Patricia's parents were covered in the podcast, but beyond that... (view spoiler)

Still, this book was a fun read, even though Patricia and Lawrence were really frustrating at times. I'd read more from Cactus Jack Anders.

terpkristin | 4407 comments I mentioned in my review that it seemed like there were some unnecessary characters and story lines. The one you mention, Richard, is one of the big ones I was thinking of.

Trike | 11225 comments I picked this up on the way home from work last night and just started reading it this afternoon while the puppy was napping. Five chapters in and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. So far this has that hard-to-define thing called "flow" that moves you effortlessly through the prose. That right there starts a book off with 3 stars in my estimation.

Walter Spence (walterspence) | 707 comments My copy just arrived at the library this am, so I'm getting to it late in the month. But since it's not a brick/boulder like my last read (::cough, dansimmonstheterror, cough), I shouldn't be sucking hind teat for too long.

xGvJx | 22 comments I am sooo disappointed! Initially it was a potential 5 star book for me, I loved the wrapping, and it started out as different and interesting. But that soon wore off :/ Now I'm struggling to get to the end, with only around 20 pages to go it is still a tough job to get through it. I have to return it to the library tomorrow, so I have to finish it today, but I can't seem to find the motivation.
