Thanks! I was surprised that she wasn't a Royal Society Fellow.

It might not fit with her personal ideologies. Not sure if I've ever seen her say anything anywhere, but I wouldn't think her one to be a Royalist, based on her other stances.

I was thinking it might be something like that, too. Does anyone know for sure? I may research it further when I get a chance.

Beth Robinson (bethrobinson) | 1174 comments Please add Daniel Defoe to the approved list.
First paragraph of the Writing section of Wikipedia references his non-fiction pamphlets and a poem he was well known for. And of course he wrote novels.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_...

Also Wil McCarthy.
His Goodreads profile notes fiction and short stories and nonfiction in magazines. I might read Hacking Matter: Levitating Chairs, Quantum Mirages, And The Infinite Weirdness Of Programmable Atoms, also non-fiction.

Happy to do so for both of them, Beth.

Yes, for Anne Enright. Do you have another link for David Mitchell, or can you point me to the libretti?

Lagullande | 1131 comments Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "Do you have another link for David Mitchell, or can you point me to the libretti? "

Sorry, wasn't sure how much linkage is useful. How about this from his Wiki page?

"...In recent years he has also written opera libretti. Wake, based on the 2000 Enschede fireworks disaster and with music by Klaas de Vries, was performed by the Dutch Nationale Reisopera in 2010.[7] He has also finished another opera, Sunken Garden, with the Dutch composer Michel van der Aa, which premiered in 2013 by the English National Opera.[8]"

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments How are pseudonyms being handled for this task? I'm looking at Flann O'Brian, but Brian O'Nolan only published his fiction under that name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_O...

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Sam wrote: "How are pseudonyms being handled for this task? I'm looking at Flann O'Brian, but Brian O'Nolan only published his fiction under that name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_O..."

We will continue to look at each author name as a separate entity. So you'd need to find 3 forms for each of them as if they were different people.

message 230: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments Thanks Elizabeth, I figured as much. I actually didn't realize Flann O'Brien was a pen name until I was looking for combos!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Sam wrote: "Thanks Elizabeth, I figured as much. I actually didn't realize Flann O'Brien was a pen name until I was looking for combos!"

It was only a very few seasons back when I realized it!

message 232: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments I think John le Carré would work for this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_le...

One of his short stories was published in this collection: Not One More Death

message 233: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments One more then I'm done for the night!

Joe Hill has written novels, short stories, screenplays and comics (which have been collected into volumes published as graphic novels, not sure if that counts!)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Hil...

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments And you're good on le Carre and Hill, too!

Her profile says clearly about the three forms, and you're good with her.

message 242: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments Thanks!

I've only got three more tasks to plan, and one of them is square peg, so I shouldn't be bugging you for approvals for too much longer! :P

message 243: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments Do academic texts count? Alexander McCall Smith has written novels, short stories and a slew of academic texts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexand...

message 244: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments Henry James wrote novels, non-fiction, short stories, and plays: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_J...

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Mcall Smith was previously approved for this task. See that he also qualifies for 20.3

Henry James is now approved for this. He also works for 20.6, if you had not seen that or thought about it.

message 246: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments Ah, I missed that he'd already been approved! I did remember seeing you give the okay for him on 20.3 though :)

Thanks again Elizabeth! I'm done with my planning now too ;)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Sam wrote: "Thanks again Elizabeth! I'm done with my planning now too ;)"

Happy Reading! I look forward to seeing which books you choose for these authors!

message 248: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) | 1008 comments Hopefully I'll manage to read most if not all of them! This is the first season where I've planned ALL the tasks right at the beginning, so we'll see if that helps!
