Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Thanks, D. I've put Hesse on the list.

Beth Robinson (bethrobinson) | 1174 comments I will be reading Suzette Haden Elgin for this one. I only knew her as a nonfiction author so it was fun when I learned a while back that she was also a sci-fi writer.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Added her to the list!

Virginia Woolf is fine. James Cain works because he wrote the screenplays for some of his novels. (Novellas are just short novels and do not qualify as a second form.)

No, I think Kazen was trying to decide which book would get moved over to the RwS tasks.

message 134: by Kazen (new)

Kazen | 623 comments What Elizabeth said - I have two options for some countries and only one can be used for WotW, so I'm seeing which would garner more points in the main challenge.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14244 comments Philip Roth: I see novels and non-fiction - what am I missing?

Nicole Krauss - see post 12, where we say that essays must be published as a collection, not just as a magazine or newspaper article. An introduction to another author's fiction also is insufficient for this task.

Ali Smith and Julian Barnes previously approved.

Butting in here, but maybe short stories? Goodbye, Columbus and Five Short Stories

ETA: This cover notes the short stories: Goodbye, Columbus and Five Short Stories

He has published many short stories in magazines, but there have been no collections yet except with Goodbye Columbus. I hope he'll get around to it sometime because those stories are really good.
