I'm a big fan of figuring out how your hormones affect you - projects like Optimized woman and Hormone Horoscope. Two books on this topic, by Miranda Gray, are The Optimized Woman and her earlier book Red Moon. She never expected to be able to write a book until she realized that her writing skills get better in the pre-menstrual week. The latter book is more esoteric, although the associated site has some nice articles. Gabrielle Lichterman from Hormone Horoscope is also currently writing a book. She posts a lot of scientific research on her site :)

You should definitely check out Period Repair Manual: Natural Treatment for Better Hormones and Better Periods by Lara Briden. It contains a lot of detail about the menstrual cycle, how it affects us hormonally, and how we can take control of it. And despite being quite technical in parts, it is still very accessible and very readable. Most importantly. it's a life-changing read. From the age of 12 I had suffered every month, and thought that was "normal". I was even told it was "normal" by so many women. I can tell you now that they were so wrong. I wish I knew back then what I know now.
I think it's pretty safe to say that if you menstruate (or at least should be menstruating), or even if you just care about someone who does - You should read this book.
Ah, hormones are a vicious beast:)Everybody has different levels of hormones, that's totally normal.
But if you suffer you should better do something about it!
I read somewhere men have hormone cycle that is 20 minutes long and that varying levels of testosterone can lead to aggression in men and women that can be greater than Epinephrine (adrenaline) surges.

And, as stated above, hormones can be vicious!
