Yes love Valek! He's one of my favourite book characters.I've read all the books before. This was my third time of reading this one. I read the newest book a couple of weeks ago (loved it) and it just made me want to go back and read from the beginning.
Ah cool! Not read Night Study yet, I'm waiting for the price to go down a little before I place my order, though I might just crack and order it soon anyway ;-)I've read Poison Study twice, the second time right after the first haha. He's a wonderful character!
I wasn't quite so fond of the Glass trilogy though, but the last book redeemed the series a little as it had a fair amount of Valek.
Thank you everyone who has shared your book memories with us. I decided they were so good we needed to make them into a mini challenge. This mini challenge is an optional part of uno and run March 14th to March 31st, check it out here
I can take care of the memory for Team Cars with If Only They Could Talk, the first in the "All Creatures Great and Small" series. My mum pressed that book on my a few months ago but I still haven't gotten around to reading it. She keeps telling me that it's awesome hehe.
Reasoning:
"I love books about animals...and also read the whole All Creature Great and Small series."
I could also take care of Team Princesses or Team Simpsons with Iced, book 6 in the Darkfever series.I can pick up HP5 to cover Team Hello Kitty or Team Simpsons or Team Wizards of Oz, once I'm done with Small Favor on audio, as I'm rereading the HP series by listening to them.
I could also pick up the first Black Stallion book to cover Team Mario Bros. Though, I have to admit, I'm not sure I'm ready to reread those books at the moment, no matter how much I loved them.
There are quite a few mentions of historical fiction, smut, romance, mystery etc. So those teams should be easy to cover if I understand it all correctly. We can match our book in various ways to what has been mentioned in the memory, so.. yeah. Get creative if you don't want to pick up a specific book that has been mentioned :-)

Remember to put it on your uno-shelf please :-) Thanks!
Also, I noticed you finished the 3rd book in the series this month - did you start it after the challenge began? Because if so, we can use that for a card as well.

Have marked them both on my uno-shelf just finished the 3rd one a few days ago.
I will get the hang of this eventually :)
Hehe, of course you will! :-)Just, anything you read in March, April, May - mention the book in this thread with how it can fit (or if you're unsure, Silje and I will figure it out) and put it on the uno shelf :-)
I'll go add the third book to the spreadsheet then!

✼Danielle✼ wrote: "Yes love Valek! He's one of my favourite book characters.

Oh yes! Valek :D
Eldarwen wrote: "I could also take care of Team Princesses or Team Simpsons with Iced, book 6 in the Darkfever series."In addition to my own post above, after asking if my reasoning would work, I'm going to read Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning to cover the memory for either one of those two teams.
One more thing:I went through the memories and looked for specific books/series/authors that have been mentioned but that is only one way of doing it.
In the words of the Uno Pixie: "Your reasons for reading a specific book for a memory can be however convoluted, illogical and longwinded as you like, you just need to explain your reason of how you connect the book to the memory."
UNO Pixie wrote: "Thank you everyone who has shared your book memories with us. I decided they were so good we needed to make them into a mini challenge. I see that our spreadsheet contains now also a March Mini sheet - this way it's much easier to track who is working with which team.
First I could take care of team Batman, because tomorrow I will start reading Boys Without Names
It's genre on GR page is Childrens > Middle Grade (age group 8-12 years)
And Batman's team memory is (connections are underlined):
When I was in first or second grade our teacher had story time, where she would read a book for all of us. All the students gathered on the floor around her desk entranced by the story. ...
(so the connection is age of the students / school children)
Eldarwen - would this be ok connection? Could we use it?
Heheheee... I really love this mini-challenge, something totally different! :)
After that I could deal with team Dr. Who, their 1st memory:
"I remember loving the fantasy of it"
I plan to read Shards of Honour by Lois McMaster Bujold and its genre is fantasy.
So the connection here is more obvious :D
and then of course I will be reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in March, genre is Humor > Funny,
so I could also take care of team Muppets - 1st memory:
"My funniest memory is from Year 9 in school...haha.
haha is taken from the 2nd memory, LOL.
That would be all for March from me :)
what you think?
Sounds to me like both connections would work just fine, EIinaly! And yes, this is definitely something different! Great idea! :-)
All 3 connections sound good to me!Hitchhiker's Guide was a good book, too. It definitely has a lot of haha moments ;-)

I really like Coehlo's books, because every book contains inspiring and insightful spiritual messages. You read the sentence, think about it for a while and find how true it is what he has said.
Some of his books influence you more and some less, but I like to read his books from time to time.
Quote: “Infatuation was a good thing. It gave spice to life, and added to its enjoyment... But it was different from love. Love was worth everything, and couldn't be exchanged for anything.”
Valid quote, Elinaly! That might even be one worth remembering :-)
I've only read one Coehlo so far and it was interesting, if a little different as it read more like a sort of fable. The Alchemist
As for the mini challenge I have options for:- Simpsons: A John Grisham book. ("I mean how was I to know at nine years old I shouldn't be Reading John Grisham books? ")
- Mario Bros: Written in Red ("But 4 years ago my mom told me to read Written in Red. And every year since then, in March, I have re-read all the books as the new one comes out. ")
- Anything romance or mystery/crime we might need=)
Great, well if you can cover Simpsons, then I'll do Princesses since my book works for both those teams. :-)
Woot! One memory down! :-)And I just realised that I could also try and fit my current reads to memories somehow. Would be silly to waste them. So I'll once again go on the hunt ;-)
Further possibilities I can cover:"I love to read anything. My favorite genres are historical fiction, mystery, urban fantasy."
Reading: Gunmetal Magic, which is urban fantasy.
----------------------------
Team Simpsons / Star Trek
"The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice"
Reading: Small Favor, one of the main characters is a vampires, and it's a main page genre.
-> DONE

"I read almost everything in the library."
"My mom was a teacher and she has always been an avid reader who took us to the library all the time."
"..and worked at a library for five years."
"...and a library of books."
"However, my fondest memory is of my mother taking my brother and I to participate in the Summer Reading program at our local library."
"As an adult I continue to be a big patron of the library.."
"Even as a child I wouldnt leave the library without a stack of books under my arm."
That's why BOTM is so great.
"Thank goodness for independent reading time & the library."
"One of my fondest memories is my grandfather taking me to the library every week."
---------------------------
Team Star Trek
"...after going swimming we went to the library next door.."
Reading: Ink and Bone - series name is "The Great Library" and the main character joins a study course to hopefully get a job working for the library. And it's a BOTM in NBRC at the moment.

Danielle, since The Golden Dynasty is already in the hands, I put you down for Hello Kitty. And since nobody has spoken up about the Minions yet, I'll put you down for that one as well.
Yes, I'm pretty sure it can be! There was a mention or two of sci-fi. Even your current book could be used for a memory if it fits something.Basically any book finished after today (or not quite 12 hours ago) can be used to cover a memory.
Just have a look through the memories and see what you can find that strikes you as a valid connection between the memory and your book(s). :-)
Ooookay, I somehow missed this part:"To claim points for the mini challenge you need to post your book along with a motivation why the book is connected to the memory in the team thread belonging to the memory."
So, Danielle, could you please head over to Team Glee and explain to them how your book fits the memory you chose? Thank you!
I see a Happy Feet, Hello Kitty and Scooby Doo memory that mentions historical fiction as a favourite genre, so Memoirs of a Geisha will fit somewhere=)
Team Simpsons Here for Team Peanuts Memory:♥ Beatrix Potter and Roald Dahl were the books for my childhood. I'm bedridden so I love that books are an escape that take me to different worlds and lives.
Connection:
Book: The Fairy Boy of Calton Hill by Sean-Paul Thomas
Genre: Fantasy that takes your to the Fairy World.
Read by: Rachel on 3/14/16
