Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Well, that's all my JAFF books this year. There's another 16 so far that I don't include because they're outside this genre.

Mary | 452 comments Debbie, congrats on reading so many books this year! This last one sounds amazing and I think I'd really like it! Cheers for mentioning it.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments I just learned about it from one of Sheila's posts in Mr. Bennet's Library and thought it sounded interesting. Lots more exclamation points than were necessary, but not badly written, and the story is a good one.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments 215. Pounds by Juliecoop (no longer posted online) - 5 stars

I'm so sorry that it's been pulled from the JAFF site where it was originally posted (A Happy Assembly, I believe) and the author won't allow it to be listed as an official "book" on GR. It's a really lovely modern P&P that's way off canon yet with some echoes of the original, especially when Lizzy and Darcy meet. Lizzy is, of all things, an auto mechanic in a teeny-tiny podunk town in California where Darcy's Jag breaks down, leaving him stranded there until his car is fixed. The story's title is the same as the nickname for the car repair shop, LB's, which are the initials both for Lizzy Bennet and her father, Larry Bennet. While Lizzy has no sisters in this incarnation, Jane and Georgiana are her two best friends who actually go on dates with Darcy before he figures out that he's attracted to Lizzy. The story, as it progresses, addresses the serious issue of mental illness. Great story! Wish it was a published book!

216. The View From Where I Sit - 5 stars

217. Lizzy Bennet and the Pompous Prat - 3 stars

218. 'Till Death Do Us Part - 4 stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

219. Burning Love: Going Up In Flames - 4 stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

220. Mr Bennet's Dutiful Daughter: A Pride and Prejudice Variation - 4 stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

221. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy: Engaged at Pemberley - 2.5 stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

222. Nothing Wanting by Juliecoop - 5 stars.
This one is still up and running (for now, at least): http://www.dwiggie.com/derby/old_2009...

The conversation between Elizabeth and Colonel Fitzwilliam at Rosings, instead of alerting her that Darcy separated her sister Jane and Bingley, educates her about the true nature of Mr. Wickham. Col. Fitzwilliam also lets Darcy know that she dislikes him, which makes him pause and reflect rather than diving into a poorly-worded proposal. These revelations give both Elizabeth and Darcy a sleepless night, leading both outside to think, and they encounter each other in the moonlight....

It's another fantastic Juliecoop story, and I urge you to read it (if you haven't already) while it's still posted. As with Pounds, I assume she does not allow this to be listed as a GR book.
