Huh Gauis adopted Aquatain! I didn't think he would do that . This just makes Tavi's path to get the throne back harder. Or maybe he wasn't thinking of Tavi but what's good for Alera.

Huh Gauis adopted A..."
Yeah, the Vord Queen is super creepy and strong in this book.
And I think Gaius wanted to ensure stability at a time of crisis. He needed to leave things to someone. But, you can't be crowned First Lord until you're confirmed by the senate.

aah ok I didn't know that

Noooooooooo The Vord have XXXX!!! I didn't think they would do or be capable of getting into the stronghold to get their hands on her.
Aldrik and Odiana story was very interesting."
I so agree! I had forgotten about this completely. The Vord kidnapping is really complex and intresting. And Odiana's story, well how dark. And Aldrick is definitely a grey area character.

And it's so sweet to include it in the middle of everything else. It's good that he's willing to take the time and effort to let her know he cares in the midst of all the craziness.

Well, remember what happened in the Wax Forest? I think that determined her shape. It is one of those circumstances when a small and seemingly meaningless action comes back in a really nasty way.
This book shows Butcher's brilliance at carrying events through the series. There are a number of situations that relate to events in previous books.

Yep it's 23 hours! I'm listening at 1.2x speed a little bit faster not too much but I need to know what will happen next so bad :P

Well, remember what happened in the Wa..."
Both spilled blood and they formed their bond there so it does make sense but it still very creepy. To think all this would have never happened if Aqutain hadn't schemed with the Marat and planned to weaken Gauis and Tavi hadn't gone to the wax forest...

Is Ehren really dead? I can't believe that he is :( I'm thinking Attis is either lying or he was lied to about Ehren's death!

:D

I hope Tavi's injuries are not bad

I listened to the epilogue a second time this morning but what i really want to do is to start the whole series from the beginning and look for the "Aha" moments.
GAIUS TAVARUS MAGNUS, 1 AV. A first lord from Tavi's line year 1 after Vord , right? As in when they have destroyed the 3rd queen right?
From Tavi's convo with Alera I gather he's doing something to enable the Marat and Canim to do fury crafting and for the Alerans who don't have much fury crafting to expand they abilities.
I like to think Crasus will eventually forgive Tavi. BTW so glad that their father survived.
High lord Varg LOL
Haahaa They are actually eating the croach! A good way to get read of it.
I loved the name of their son Desiderius .
After Tavi severed the queen's connection with Gardos and Thana he told Kitai to talk to Alera to see what she can do about them .So I'm thinking Kitai could have bonded with them and is the one keeping them quiet.

From Tavi's convo with Alera I gather he's doing something to enable the Marat and Canim to do fury crafting and for the Alerans who don't have much fury crafting to expand they abilities. It sounded like Alera did something to balance power and ability with smarts. I'm not sure what that would mean.
I like to think Crassus will eventually forgive Tavi. BTW so glad that their father survived. Me too.
High Lord Varg LOL I know. It's awesome. He's such a great character.
Haahaa They are actually eating the croach! A good way to get read of it. Yeah, that one is funny. And gross too. Well, they did a lot of damage to the land and do need to get rid of it. But eeww.
I loved the name of their son Desiderius . Yes, it's wonderful to be named for how your parents feel about you rather than who they want you to be.
After Tavi severed the queen's connection with Garados and Thana he told Kitai to talk to Alera to see what she can do about them .So I'm thinking Kitai could have bonded with them and is the one keeping them quiet.
I'm right there with you ShoSho, I love this series. There is so much depth and complexity. It has tension without being dark and gloomy. And even the villains mostly (mostly) are complex enough that you don't end up hating them even as you continue to want them to fail.

Same here. And while I find Invidia repulsive, I rather understand her and pity her inability/struggle to be more than she is. At the end she seems to really despise herself, doesn't she?
