It is now or never. :D I am always wary of WWII setting, since it is always heavy on emotion, but so many people praise this book, that I shall try it.

Monika (monkatx) Also for "all ears," i just searched through my ebooks and there are so many books with that phase to chose from. Much much more than those with specific covers. :P

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson Nightlife (Cal Leandros #1) by Rob Thurman Red Rising (Red Rising, #1) by Pierce Brown The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick

And more sequels and sequels of sequels...

I say we try for max points....

And YES - we are doing AWESOME!!

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Thanks for the clarification on "cat shifter" and for the book sources for both that and "all ears"..... gonna go change my vote!

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Here are a couple of sources for game piece covers - the first has a lot of books and several links; the second is a game pieces list!

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Fellow travelers, welcome to Maraba, Brazil!!

Maraba

1st week in First class:
3. June - 9. June

TASK: BRAZIL - Spell-it out!

Our spreadsheat
LEADER BOARD

Tied for 1st place at the end of Business Class.
Great job!!

message 508: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly Yep, 1st place it is!!

I see that Team Readers of the World, Unite! is also taking the max points, so we have to try to keep going! :)

Thank you Angie for the links!
I would still prefer task for this week though...

Shy and Dima what you think:
- detour: Read a book with a game piece on the cover(chess, domino, etc.)
OR
- task: spell out Maraba or Brazil.

message 509: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments After looking for books with a game piece on the cover, I decided to change my vote to task for week 1.

Oh, I know what you mean! And since we are from the countries that were directly touched (suffered) by the WWII it is especially hard to read all about it.
I have to admit I cried while reading Book thief.
The way its written... just touches your heart!

Elinaly Jackie wrote: "After looking for books with a game piece on the cover, I decided to change my vote to task for week 1."

Yeah, this detour just doesn't fit with any of my other challenges :D
Though I thought maybe this... IA Initiate (IA #1) by John Darryl Winston

Task is perfectly okay with me for this week!! I am good with all the detours, so I just voted for task on the one I thought might be hardest - but I really don't have a preference.

message 513: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly That means we have enough votes for doing task this week (huh thanks!, lol)

Spell out, right?
So we need at least 6 books for spell out, which means two of us can read any book.

BRAZIL or MARABA ?

Jamie - is all understandable for you? if not, then ask :)

1st stop spreadsheet is HERE!
You can either post your completed book here on our thread or directly fill in the spreadsheet.

message 514: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Jamie - just a note...

While I was lurking....'er, I mean visiting...around another teams page, I saw they had asked the travel agent when books could be counted for their new team member. Answer was - "they can count books from the day your new team mates join the team". So you can count any book you have finished from Jun 1st on for any stop on the trip, if you choose.

message 515: by Elinaly (last edited Jun 04, 2016 02:55PM) (new)

Elinaly And we, since the beginning of economy trip, right?

How hard are Z books to find for everyone? We have more letter choices with Brazil, but maybe easier letters with Maraba....

We can also repeat two letters for two team members, if we all want to do the task, versus any book.

message 517: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly Well, I'm currently reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, so I can cover Z (author's last name)!

message 518: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Cool!! Want to just go with Brazil?

message 519: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly Yep, just Brazil then :)

message 521: by Monika (new)

Monika (monkatx) Ok, Brazil it is. I am going to read Bratři Lví srdce by Astrid Lindgren, which can cover "B", "A" or "L".

message 522: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments I will read Introducing the Toff by John Creasey which can be used for 'I'.

Sigh... sry Monika - and there goes "Book thief" again, right? Back to the dusty bookshelf :D

message 524: by Monika (last edited Jun 04, 2016 04:40PM) (new)

Monika (monkatx) I always forget that "The" can be skipped. :D

Well one day... I also dont really have time to squeze 500p book, between those two 700p+ books I currently read.

message 525: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 290 comments I finished What I Did For a Duke by Julie Anne Long yesterday so that could be for "L" or I can read something else and save that. Should I find an A or an R?

message 526: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Totally up to you Jamie. You can certainly use it if you would like.

Read date is 3rd June?

Nope, special shelf is not needed.
I first did it, but I think I have abandoned it.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments Ugh why am I not getting notifications. Im up for whatever I need to read. Which letters are left to cover and I can find something.

Have you clicked the "Notify me when people comment" button under my post?

Or with me what happens sometimes is that I have way too many challenges going on in different groups and the notifications just disappear among other thousands notifications... hehehee

message 533: by Elinaly (last edited Jun 06, 2016 06:57AM) (new)

Elinaly We have spelled out Brazil (all letters are covered), so you can pick any letter you want :)
Or any book you want :)

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments Yep I have it set to receive notifications thats why Im not sure why Im not getting them but no worries. Ok let me see what I will read this week.

message 535: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 290 comments Hi team, I'm back from my trip and no longer relying on an iPad checked hastily in between family time.

I just wanted to double check something, the book I finished was a re-read for me, is that okay for this challenge. (It's actually the 3rd time I've read it, I love it that much and I'm reading the whole series for the first time now that Lyon's book is available.)

And when we finished, we just have to state it or enter it into the spreadsheet - no review necessary?

And.... when do we get to start the next leg, whenever everyone is finished with this one??

Thanks!!

message 536: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Hi Jamie! Welcome back :)
A re-read is okay - I think the common rule is that it has to have been 6 months since you read it for it to be used in any challenge. (I will confirm.)

Yes - just an update here or in the spreadsheet when you complete a book for one of the stops.

We officially start the next leg when everyone is finished with their book for the current one. As soon as we choose task/detour for all legs, you can start if you want or you can wait for our flight to the next stop. ;)

message 537: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 290 comments It's been at least a year since I read it

Thanks for helping to guide me :-)

message 538: by Angie ☯ (last edited Jun 06, 2016 08:33AM) (new)

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Then you are golden! (I know it is less than 1 year - I am re-reading Outlander for BOM and it has been exactly 1 year and it counted!)

Edited - it is 6 months for a re-read, I couldn't find it, so I asked a Mod!

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 334 comments I am going with The Sin Eater’s Daughter (The Sin Eater’s Daughter, #1) by Melinda Salisbury for this week.

message 542: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly Angie, hold your horses - I'm also in the middle of my book and hopefully will finish it tomorrow :)

But Maraba is such a beautiful place where to spend some extra days. Oh how I hope everyone agrees with me ;)

Martina Forasacco | 74 comments Finished my book for Maraba and really enjoyed the stay(in the book and Maraba, wish I were really there, near the sea) :) Ready for Fuerteventura, whenever you feel like leaving :)

message 547: by Elinaly (last edited Jun 12, 2016 06:31AM) (new)

Elinaly Finished The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
I loved that book!!!

When I closed the book my hands were literally shaking -I was so caught up in it - I loved the characters, the atmosphere (dark Spain), the humor, even the cruelty and heartbreaking lovestories.
Sigh. Just loved it!

message 548: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly I also see that Dima finished her book on 7th June.
Spreadsheet is updated.

We are done with our business in Brazil, Maraba and ready to catch the flight to Fuerteventura, Spain (Canary Islands)!

Angie I sent the message to the Travel Agent and left you the honor to find the picture of our next stop (you are so good at it!) and post the information.

Thanks for waiting me ladies and sorry for the delay! :)

Elinaly, that book looks really good. I'll have to add it to my ever expanding TBR!

message 550: by Elinaly (last edited Jun 12, 2016 06:43AM) (new)

Elinaly Yeah, it has pretty high average rating also.
I don't know if I'm enchanted by the book or is it lack of the sleep, but yeah, it has been a while since I felt like this after finishing a book :)
