What are you reading
Over the summer I was working on reading books from PBS' Great American Read List. My favorite so far was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. I never would have picked up the book if it hadn't made the list and I'm so glad I did. It was amazing! My 7 and 4 year old saw my list and wanted me to find books for me to read them, so most of my summer was spent reading them.
The Little Prince
Charlotte's Web
The Chronicles of Narnia
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
I had never read these books before and it was great getting to share them with the girls.

I hope to finish off the final book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I'm about halfway through, not 100% liking where I think the story might be going. But die hard fans have been satisfied with the ending from the few reviews I've read.

Christine, what number book are you up to now? 105th? :) I don't think I'll even hit 50 books this year unfortunately, the past few years I've read over 100 per year. Just seem to be a lot busier these days!

So expats since the unofficial start of autumn is here and for Ang Spring is almost knocking on her door.
the publishers are starting to push horror and more thrillers for fall and it won't be long until Christmas novels start coming out.
Speaking of Christmas stories do you only read them at Christmastime?

I read Christmas books sometimes at Christmastime and when it’s not Christmastime but I love reading Christmas books
I read Christmas books anytime, but my favorite is to read them at Christmastime by the light of the Christmas tree.
I think for this Christmas we should read the Christmas candle that Tarheel suggested to the group a few years ago

Oh that is so wonderful Yes lets do it!
I'll reach out to the author and see if he'd like to join in.
it's 4.99 on Kindle
but I bet libraries would have it too.
Sue what a great idea!!!
Thank you
It's only 208 pages so I think we could tackle it in December We'll chat about it later too.

I know we don't talk about spiritual memoir. But this past spring I read My Sisters the Saints. By Colleen Carroll Campbell. It was very insightful and when things are not going good for me I pick it up again. It really is a feel good book for me. Any one else have a feel good book?
Yes I'm all for doing the read. I'm actually going to also read a book from Tarheelgirl's tbr list. I had the idea and wrote down a few books from her list after i got the message from Kenneth. I was hoping he would stay around and join us, but I understand. He told me that he would delete Tarheelgirl's account and said he would wait a week or so, which he did. I hope he can find some peace. I can't begin to imagine what he must be going through.
Sue my feel good book is called Little Bubble Gum Trooper and I never read that book called My Sisters the Saints: A Spiritual Memoir and ok Ang from Oz and thanks for letting me know and I can’t imagine what he’s going through either and i’m sure it’s very hard on him right now

I don't really have a go to inspirational book per se
I have enjoyed memoirs that talk about the things described in your book Sue and relationships period.
But I guess if I had to pick an author who has really spoken to me it would be Sue Monk Kidd I've read all her books non-fiction and fiction and especially these two non-fiction memoirs - Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother and Daughter Journey to the Sacred Places of Greece, Turkey, and France andThe Dance of the Dissident Daughter in which she talks about her struggles with faith.
For fiction I gravitate toward woman authors who bring women from history back to life and for that my go to author is
US expat Mary Sharratt-http://marysharratt.com/main/
Ang I wish I would have thought to look at her tbr pile but I didn't know that Kenneth was going to delete her account. Maybe you could share some.

I can't imagine what he's going through either Ang and the fact that he spoke to us says a lot about how she felt about the group. I am so glad he reached out to you too.

Debbie I think that’s a great idea that Ang from Oz should share some of those books that Tarheelgirl put on her goodreads account and Ang from Oz I finished my 100th book on August 30th

Paula Brackston is a long time fave of mine. She's a Welsh author who loves to include Welsh legends and fantasy into her novels.
