Lory | 629 comments I also found a book with a D character. Named Doreen and another. Don't know how major the character is, but the name shows up at least across the first couple of pages. So I'm going to count it :)

Jo-Jo | 686 comments I'll post my book once I've found it and completed it, haha. =) I just finished one on July 6 that would have worked, but that was before this leg started, unfortunately. It shouldn't be too difficult to find one, though.

message 404: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) I'll be reading
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Picture of Dorian Gray

I couldnt find anything else and I should add this to my Read list anyway lol hopefully shouldnt take as long as the last one did for me....

Lory | 629 comments Completion Post:

50 ways to Hex Your lover. I like it quite a bit. the character's name was Dweezil...he was around the entire book. Doreen was only in the firat couple pages.

The wobble is definitely helping me read books faster!

message 408: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Wobble is pure madness - I put down for one book a week and I am readin above and beyond that. I can't see how I can even read one book and complete my fair share of the tasks.

I am getting a little bit burnt out - but have just completed a book that will fit a task and that will be it for me for the Olympics round - will rest up for a few days (a week?) until the next round starts :)

message 409: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Completion post - City of Jasmine by Deanna Raybourn - has an important secondary character called Aunt Dove

message 410: by 0possum (new)

0possum I had no idea how hard it would be to find a book with a D character. I kept reading books assuming someone would have a name starting with D -no luck until now! I have my book Roger Zelazny The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth so far there's Doc, Drax & Drin.

Jodie (anntsy) | 223 comments Completion post!

Challenge:
character's first name starts with D.

The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson

I've just finished reading this behemoth of a book! There's a character by the name of Dockson.

This book was soooo good!

message 413: by 0possum (new)

0possum Completion Post for Zelazny The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth

There were plenty of characters with Ds. More than enough to go around. Zelanzy is entertaining.

Jodie, I really like the Mistborn series too.

message 414: by Jodie (new)

Jodie (anntsy) | 223 comments I'm sooo scared to pick up the last book! I don't know if I can handle it just yet!

Erika Working on finishing all the books I started this month (super unfocused lately) hopefully I run into a D character.

message 417: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) Almost done with mine! Taking me a bit longer than usual.....I'm not used to reading Classics anymore haha

message 418: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments I read picture of Dorian Gray years ago - at the time I really loved it - but was studying classics then so I guess I was tuned in to it - I tried a re-read but couldn't get into it. So I guess classics are something you have to read a lot of to stay in focus? Maybe?

message 419: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) Completion Post
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Picture of Dorian Gray

Erika Completion Post

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Completed: 8/2/16

Characters! Draco and Delphi!

message 421: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Erika, how was the Cursed Child? I am nervous to read it because I don't want it to ruin my "happy ending" by making it too serious and "real-life".

message 422: by Erika (new)

Erika Omg! It was amazing and horrible all at the same time. I was pleased in the end but had to take a few breaks to recover through it

message 423: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Erika wrote: "Omg! It was amazing and horrible all at the same time. I was pleased in the end but had to take a few breaks to recover through it"

Is that because of the format - ie play not novel?

message 424: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Just waiting on Jo Jo's post and we've finished our final destination.

No, no--English degree here so I am well versed in play reading, thank you William Shakespeare, and it's a play written with J.K. Rowling so it reads like a novel as far as I'm concerned. It was the story itself. The twists and turns with such beloved charectars was hard to take.

message 426: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments I haven't read it yet - but I will. I won't have a problem with format either I too did English lit - which is odd because a part of it was reading obscure Russian plays :)

message 427: by Erika (new)

Erika Right? I had one class that was all really odd british prose

message 428: by Sally906 (new)

message 429: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Hey guys

We have finished - I can post us as finished without waiting for Jo-Jo as she appears to be MIA - I hope nothing is wrong as she appears to have dropped out of Goodreads - her Wobble team is wondering where she is as well.

So what do you all want to do - post it as completed without her or continue to wait until she comes back.

message 430: by Erika (new)

Erika If shes off goodreads all together, id say post without

message 431: by 0possum (new)

0possum I hope shes on a nice vacation with intermittent internet connections but i think we should just move on -as it stands now

message 432: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Yeah, I agree. I would post it. Also hoping she is on vacation, as it is very nice.

message 433: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) Agreed

message 434: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments OK - I have sent the completion message to the NBRC Travel Agent :)

message 435: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) So what's the plan moving forward? Are we all agreed we want to keep going and get another itinerary? I'm still in if everyone else is :)

message 436: by Sally906 (last edited Aug 11, 2016 02:56PM) (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments I'm still interested - I like our laid back time frame - less stress :)
It says in the rules:

When your team has completed all eight stops

◈ At the end of the trip (minimum 8 weeks), the team can decide if they want to get a new itinerary and start a new trip, or pat themselves on the back and disband :)

◈ Your first trip as a team is in Economy class. Once you have completed, if you decide to go again as a team, then you are upgraded to Business Class. In Business Class you can do a maximum of six detours (rather than 5).
If your team decide to go for a third trip, because you have accumulated enough frequent flyer points, you are upgraded to first class, and you can do a maximum of seven detours.

◈ If your team decide to not continue, you can join a new team, but you start again in economy class or you can become a hitchhiker for a team that is missing a player

All those that want to go on can - and we can pick up 'hitchhikers' to fill in the gaps for those who don't want to continue.

That is my understanding anyway :)

message 437: by Jodie (new)

Jodie (anntsy) | 223 comments This was a nice easy -going challenge, I don't mind getting another itinerary!

NBRC Travel Agent | 368 comments Sorry for the delay, your spreadsheet has been updated with a business class itinerary.

message 444: by Sally906 (last edited Aug 21, 2016 04:50AM) (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Ok - Business Class team:

Sally906

Tally

Opossum

Erika

Jacki

Jodie

We can stay at 6 players or advertise and pick up 2 hitch hikers in the hitchhiker thread to complete our team of 8.

Do we want to stay as six?

Do we want to do 3 week cycles again?

message 445: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Ok - here are our tasks for Business class

We can choose to either read a book that is set in the country or the author is from that country, or spell the city out.

OR

Do the detour - we can pick 5 detours

1. Asturias (ES) - Enontekio (FI)
detour: Read a book where a character gives birth

2. Enontekio (FI) - Burgas (BG)
detour: Read a book that won or was nominated in the 2014 Goodread Choice Awards (https://www.goodreads.com/choiceaward...)

3. Burgas (BG) - Madinah (SA)
detour: Read a book where a character is a teacher

4. Madinah (SA) - Kozhikode (IN)
detour: Read a book where MC is a virgin (at the beginning)

5. Kozhikode (IN) - Wenzhou (CN)
detour: Read a book with an X on the cover

6. Wenzhou (CN) - Obihiro (JP)
detour: Read a book with the word Ms, Mr, Mrs or Miss (plurals are acceptable) in the title

7. Obihiro (JP) - Watertown (US)
detour: Read a book that has the birthstone Topaz in the text or title

8. Watertown (US) - Asturias (ES)
detour: Read a book with 61-70 chapters

message 446: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments ES - Spain
FI - Finland
BG - Bulgaria
SA - Saudi Arabia
IN - India
CN - China
JP - Japan
US - United States

message 447: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments The first stop the detour is someone gives birth - I'm guessing has a baby during the course of the story rather than an actual birth scene.

Books set in Spain:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Or spell out:
Asturias- which is a book each plus 2 of us read 2 books
Enontekio - which is a book each plus 3 of us read 2 books

message 448: by Erika (new)

Erika I vote spell it out

message 449: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Thanks Sally for putting that all together, it was really helpful!

Spell it out works for me. might be hard to find a book with a birth. Although, I do have an author I like from Spain.

message 450: by Jodie (new)

Jodie (anntsy) | 223 comments Spell it out is good. I just read Bird Box by Josh Malerman which has a birth scene and would have been perfect for this!
