Spell it out for Valdivia?
7. Kona (US) - Valdivia [Chili](CL) - Doing
Read a book where the author uses a suffix (Jr, Sr., III)

Valdivia would give us each one letter for a spell-it out - not sure who easy it would be to find a book set in Chili

Yes - we can ignore A, An and The in titles - unless you want an A or a T :)

I am going to go for the I - India Black (Madam of Espionage, #1) by Carol K. Carr India Black by Carol K. Carr - has been on my TBR pile for a while :)

Erika I'll take that A! I have A Walk in the Woods on loan from my library

I know that feeling - I am reading Running Barefoot by Amy Harmon and struggling - not because it's a bad book, but because it is a challenge book where someone else suggests a book for you to read - and I am resisting it because I 'have' to read it rather than chose to read it - lol - silly hey?

Yes - I thought it was just title - but found this in the airport lounge:

Spell-it-out rules

Using the first letter in the book’s title, the first letter of the series name, the first letter in the author’s first or last name, or the first letter of a character’s first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter in the audiobook narrators first or last name.
If you are reading a translated version, you can also use the first letter of the translator's first or last name.

As always, if the first letter of a title starts with ‘A’, ‘An’, ‘The’, etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.

We started yesterday - so it has to be a book finished after 13th (although it probably was 12th USA time)

So this won't count

I am - it is full on and I have to confess I am very confused - still I am reading and posting and letting my Captains figure out where to put it :)

message 375: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments That is my philosophy as well. Books meeting multiple qualifications makes it even trickier. Sounds like a lot of work for the captains! I'm impressed.

message 376: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Yes - I am SO glad I didn't get picked as co-captain!!!

Jo-Jo | 686 comments Lory wrote: "Anyone else getting caught up with the Wobble?"

I am as well. And yes, it does seem like a ton of work for the captains. You would've made a great captain Sally! That challenge seemed quite confusing at first. It seems like our captains/team has finally settled on a way to do it that's working but it took until yesterday to get it all together. I wonder if each new game will be so confusing when it starts up. I know there's always little kinks to work out, etc. We have one girl who's ready to leave the team and challenge because she's so upset over being confused by everything. I hope she'll try to stick it out, but I don't want her to be upset either. Challenges should be fun.

message 378: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments That's so sad. But I have felt like that before. I hope she preservers - because a good team makes all the difference

Stop 7. Kona (US) - Valdivia [Chili](CL)

0possum Completion Post:
The Collected Stories of Vernor Vinge

As with most short story books some were good some were bad and I'm not sure why this was on my TBR but it was OK

as a side note:
First the back story- I'm not fat, not thin. My hair isn't blond or brown or grey (thank you Natasha) I'm not short or tall or gorgeous or unattractive. I'm a middle aged (plus) introvert happily married for 33 years. I don't wear a ring though. So How to pick up seemingly financial secure middle aged men who may read a bit:

1: Take the metro or other public transportation to a professional baseball game alone wearing a home team shirt.

2: Read a trade sized Science Fiction book on the metro. I think the science fiction part is a must. I have never been approached with such purpose while reading before. When you are not reading keep the book out of your backpack. (this attracted 3 men total on 3 different trains)
3: during down times at the game start reading. This got me 2 offers of beer.

4: Make sure you have your "don't talk to me" face on.

Weirdest game I've gone to.

Vernor Vinge -middle aged man magnet.

Are there any (non best seller) books you were reading while out that got people talking to you?
