I'll visit in the next weeks and I'll write when I did.

You never know until you try, right? Please keep us informed! :)

Yay, more people! Well, a university library might actually be even more interested in such an initiative, I'd think? :D

February will solve the problem, at least for some languages I'd say, and we're hoping next months will also have translations readily available. :)

Great idea! And perhaps if the libraries are hooked in, they may acquire those books in advance.

Unfortunatly in my university library they disagree with our proposition... but in the little library of my little town they want to talk about OSS to other readers. They don't have enough money to buy all the books but they think that maybe people will try to buy them themselves. It's quite ironic but cool I think. And... I have my copy!! :D
What about you all ? :)

Woo-hoo, Tim! Hey, I don't really care if you are a bad speaker, you are still pretty awesome! Keep us informed and/or ask for suggestions, will you? :) Eek, I'm excited.

If some one suggests Emma (Or one of the mods who are in the UK) to get in touch with the British Council (they have presence in a large no. of countries) to get on board, more people will have access to the books.
For those who are not familiar with British Council Libraries, it is: "The United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
A registered charity: 209131 (England and Wales) SC037733 (Scotland)." (As mentioned on the website)
Here is the link: https://www.britishcouncil.org/

I mean, we could easily start a shitstorm if they declined.

..
Only if you all descend on them in arrowhead formation ;D"
Yes, and not just the British Council, but also other libraries that have a global presence.
If some people descend on them, I'll claim I did not plant the idea of bringing them on board, and that my account was hacked!
Catching up with this thread! Tim, have you got any news? :)
I met a few interesting people in the last days and will probably try to do something here in Granada as well...with their support, it's more likely that I get to do something cool.
I was also thinking about secondary schools and high-schools. Perhaps some of you stay in touch with yours / are actually still in such a stage and this would also be an alternative way of bringing feminism to the young people. :)

After reading January's book, many of us have been left with a distinct feeling that we, too, should be 'doing something about it'. However, because of many reasons, becoming a full-time, full-fledged activist might not be an option for many.
However, there's something we can all do - small, local action. So...what about you try and take Our Shared Shelf to your local / nearest library? :)
You can try and talk to a librarian there. Tell them about this initiative that many people do not know about but might be interested if they did. Tell them why do you think it is important to spread it. See what happens! Some libraries might only agree to let you put a sign and/or reading list at their billboard, with a little explanatory note. Some of them might actually be so interested that they may make an effort to get the books. Some might be fully on board and organise talkings and / or any other kind of exciting events. More people will read these books and hopefully join us here...and maybe, just maybe, you will help some people to change their mind regarding feminism, or inspire somebody to contribute to the cause.
I know I'm gonna try. Yesterday, in fact, I had this crazy idea of randomly bringing OSS into the conversation with an acquaintance of mine. Turned out, I was talking to the head of the local government's gender equality department! What are the odds? But now he knows about OSS, and maybe something cool will start from this sudden connection.
What do you think about it? :D
