2016 Nomination: Book For February's Group Read

Please nominate any YA historical fiction that you're interested in reading as a group. Your selections will be put in a poll for all of us to vote on. :-)

I would recommend one of two YA historical novels by Canadian author, Karen Bass. Both are available in the US (Amazon and probably other sources too). Uncertain Soldier is set in Alberta during World War II and deals with internment camps of captured Nazi soldiers. Graffiti Knight is set in Germany, just after WWII when Germany is occupied by Russian forces. Both have won numerous awards. I don't know the author but admire all her work.

That sounds interesting, Brenda! I'm not sure if we could have that book as a group read because the selection needs to be easily accessible to our group members (for example, it's available in many libraries). It looks like it's in Canadian libraries but not too many libraries in the U.S. have it. Are there other books that you are interested in nominating for the group read? :-)

Code Name Verity sounds very similar to Violins of Autumn which we read recently.

I also just read Passenger that was very intriguing and totally worth a discussion. It is both historical fiction and sci-fi, similar to Diana Gabaldon's Outlander.
