WHEN: Probably about 5 years ago (2011-ish) I'm not sure if the book was brand new or quite old at this stage.

READING LEVEL: Young Adult to Adult. I don't think it was specifically YA, but it was about kids/teens.

PLOT: The POV MC was male, he (and maybe a sibling/friend) was looting a gift shop near the beach, he ended up hanging out with a girl who was travelling alone. I think I remember there being some kind of commotion with someone getting bitten or nearly bitten (maybe the MC's friend if there was one). The girl was on the beach looking out at the waves at some point. The MC wanted to team up, but she refused, and it MAY have been revealed towards the end that she was bitten.

I remember post-cards, novelty shirts, hockey sticks?
