No one should need the alternate task this month unless you forget to roll during the appropriate time period.

For those of you who do not roll between 1/25-2/5, here is the February Alternate Task-

February- Read a book with white on the cover, or a book that is a new release (within 3 months)

Hi Kim!

I have corrected the first post in the thread. You can roll starting today, the 25th, not the 28th. That was an old date from 2 years ago. We've allowed more time now :)

As long as they are both living beings they don't have to be the same species :)

So glad this challenge is back for another year! I've updated my original post, but wanted to share my books. : )

I read The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I was seriously underwhelmed. This was a case where the movie was SOOOOO much better...and made more sense. Sorta.

I read the sixth book in the Alex Verus series, Veiled by Benedict Jacka. I've been listening to this series with my husband and we LOVE IT! If you're a fan of Harry Dresden, definitely check it out. There are some similarities (and a shout out to Butcher's series in Chapter 1), but after the first book, the differences become very clear. Where Harry wrestles with his violent tendencies before crossing certain lines, Alex is a much darker character. He's still very likable, but he doesn't hesitate to be the ruthless mage when the situation requires it. The magical elements of Alex's world, played out on the streets of London, have a gritty, mafia feel. If that's not enough to make you curious, Jacka's battle scenes can only be described as E.P.I.C.!!!!
