Bobaloo Mcadoo | 16 comments I had seen this book/series at the bookstore a few months back and had planned to read it. But when I went back, I could not find it, and now I don't remember the name(s) of the book(s)/series or the author. But here's what I think I know:

- It was either a series or a repeated style of book.
- The author was a likely fairly new female author.
- The book was a fresh take on monsters and/or vampires/zombies/ghouls.
- The cover was pretty inviting.
- She had written at least a few other books like it.
- The books are not so popular that everyone knows about them. But they likely at least have a cult following. They may or may not have been best sellers though.
- Innovative twist (though, I can't remember what it was)

Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) | 453 comments This literally describes thousands of books, are you sure you don't know anything else?

message 11: by Bobaloo (new)

Bobaloo Mcadoo | 16 comments Yes, it is a pretty vague description. Sorry, I only saw it the one time at the store. I also went home and researched it online at the time, which is why I clearly remember that the author did more books like it (whether or not it's technically a series or not I don't know; leaning towards it is).

I do recall the artwork of the cover having a contemporary freshness...I remember a Frankenstein walking on one of them (whether it was the front or back cover, I don't know).

message 12: by Bobaloo (new)

Bobaloo Mcadoo | 16 comments Thanks for all the guesses so far. It's none of them though.

I'll say that I think it's unlikely that the author's work pre-dates 2000.

Bobaloo Mcadoo | 16 comments How I remember it: The covers were a primary color backing (one of them was black or blue (darker color). And then like some sort of artwork coming up from the bottom.

Michele--the same place you add the books--look at the bottom and you'll see the option to put in either cover or link (which links the book itself). Just change over to cover and it will show the picture.

The art was fun, somewhat like 'To Kill A Warlock,' and interesting like 'The Accidental Werewolf.' The covers were mostly dark (I remember) other than the actual art.

I could be wrong, but I remember the author's first name being something more common like Stephanie or Nicole. (And to say so now, I think the last name was one or two syllables.)

Bobaloo Mcadoo | 16 comments Jennifer wrote: "Laurell Hamilton maybe? She writes an Anita Blake series that is pretty good. It is about vampires werewolves, etc. Good luck!"

I looked into it. The subject looked fairly dark. This was more of a light-hearted take on ghouls; was my take. Like more suited towards young teens, but I was still interested because I thought it was pretty unique.

Great suggestion. I checked and my history goes back to January (which I checked just in case). But I saw the book and looked it up in December.

I also just checked my amazon history and nothing showed there. I don't remember what site I looked it up on though.

message 49: by Emily (new)

Emily (emalderwood) | 43 comments My sister reads the Poison Apple series, which I'd guess are around the date range you're looking for. The colours on the covers are pretty basic, and they're different unrelated stories by various authors about young teens and their experiences with the supernatural (vampires, werewolves, ghosts etc.). They're a fairly easy reading level aimed towards children and young teens. I don't know if they're what you're looking for since they don't really meet all the descriptions but I figure it's worth a shot :)
The Dead End is the first book I believe but here are some of the others and their covers:

This Totally Bites! (Poison Apple #2) by Ruth Ames Miss Fortune (Poison Apple #3) by Brandi Dougherty Midnight Howl (Poison Apple #5) by Clare Hutton Now You See Me ... (Poison Apple #4) by Jane B. Mason At First Bite (Poison Apple #8) by Ruth Ames
