What is everyone currently reading?
Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed has an interracial, Ashes of Midnight. It's the sixth in the series so you probably want to start with Kiss of Crimson.
I just read Moonshine by Rob Thurman and loved it. While this is not a romance book (it's urban fantasy), there is an interracial romance in the background between Cal and George (who is multiracial). This is a great series. I highly recommend it to fans of urban fantasy or if you want to try something different.

That's great to hear, Eugenia. I added that one to my to read list as well, based on the tv show.

Welcome to Goodreads, Ellie. :-) I concur. I couldn't really get into Dark Lover myself (sorry BDB fans) but they say it gets better later in the series. I'm not sure I'll be continuing though, at least for a while but you may want to keep going.
There's also Dark Thirst by Sara Reinke which features an IR relationship. Charisma Knight has Soul Seduction coming up early next year and there's also The Alpha Promise by Hayat Ali which I've been hearing good things about. Dark Possession by Christine Feehan is another vampire IR in her Carpathian series. Christina Kelly's The Eternal Kiss. Sixteen Going on Undead is another on the YA spectrum.
I'm currently writing a vampire/fae IR centered contemporary fantasy/romance (with a dash of historical) series called the Ashen Twilight series. The first book A Kiss of Ashen Twilight is in paperback at Amazon now but if you want to hang tight until Jan, the ebook will be making a return with the next book (Within the Shadows of Mortals (Ashen Twilight Series #2)) coming out in February. Third book is in the works. :-) I do have some freebie downloads at my site of short story prequel tie-ins of the series. Grab em here if you like.
All of these are bwwm books, btw except for Dark Possession which is bw/latino male, I believe. Most are individual books within a series or just standalones.

My reading is currently on hold (boo) while I catch up on projects and a new job. I am listening to Death Masks, book 5 in the Dresden series after (finally!) being released. I need my Harry/James Marsters fix and I'm a happy girl every time I tune in.
I loved Paul Blackthorne as Harry in the tv series but I can't help wondering how Marsters would be in the role. It'd be great to see one day. :-)

I'm not getting as much reading done either, trying to work on NaNoWriMO and working all the time. Rae, we won't hold it against you that you didn't get into Dark Lover. Different Strokes.
Keep writing Danielle.
Rae, I thought you were participating in nanowrimo as well.
I have a little under 10,000 words to go.

I had nothing on hand to read so my hubby suggested some graphic Novels
I read Ultra:Seven Days a graphic novel by Jonathon and Joshua Luna.
And Girls(same authors) I think it's about 4-5 volumes in this series..not sure.
I am about to read number 4
I am really enjoying it.

Okay, everyone pretty much knows that I'm SO bored with the paranormal genre and its continuing preoccupation with vampires, werewolves, shifters, slayers, ad nauseaum and so on. BUT, like an answer to a prayer, along comes 'Soulless' by Gail Carriger. Basically, if Mary Shelley married Bruce Sterling and they had a child named Jane Austen Verne she would have written a book this good. It's a steampunk paranormal of manners featuring a most unlikely heroine and it's set in a Victorian period in which supernatural beings actually work for Queen Victoria but the real monsters are still human beings. I've actually read this book TWICE and to date few paranormals can touch it for sheer originality and wit. A longer review will come later.
Hey Vixenne! Good to see ya! Hope you are well. :-)
I've been hearing good things about Soulless and I really like the cover. I'm not really into Steampunk (I'm more of a cyberpunk gal myself!) but I may have to check this book out. Looking forward to your review!

I was but, as every year goes during NaNo time, I start out fine and then something ends up chopping into it. This year it was my net, last year it was edits from a new pub I signed with. So I went back to cleaning up old projects. I wonder what will happen next year lol.
Congrats! You're almost there! Woo hoo!

I'm aiming to be finished with The Meeting by Saturday evening. I'll be writing a little to it in a hour.

Your USB rocks, NU. Mine doesn't have that many graphic novels.

Based on recommendations from this board, I've read a number of books by Linda Howard lately. They were all okay reads, but none were really spectacular. Kiss Me While I Sleep was fine but the ending was far too rushed. Mr. Perfect was okay, but not particularly memorable. Duncan's Bride, the whole tone of the book was a bit too "red neck" for my taste, but I didn't hate it. Mackenzie's Mountain, ok. Up next is Mackenzie's Mission and All the Queen's Men (Arch did a good campaign for John Medina).
I've also read the first 3 books in the BDB series. I'm loving these brothers, man. They're super cool. My type of men. Totally badass. The love stories can be a little too sappy for my taste but I'm feeling these guys so much I don't care. Zsadist's story intrigued me from the beginning, but I really can't say which brother I love the best so far. They've all got it going. After completing Book 3, I was convinced Wrath was my least favourite brother, but then I read the short story revisiting him and Beth on Ward's website and hot damn!
Much as I'm enjoying the series though, I don't know if I'll continue. I don't have a problem with homosexual content or those who read them, but personally its not something I want to read. I understand there's a lot of homoeroticism going on between Butch and V. I don't mind a little male bonding, in fact I love men who are caring and loving toward each other, but if its too much and crosses certain boundaries it may start to go a bit too far outside my comfort zone. So I'm debating either 1) skipping books 4 & 5 or 2)not continuing with the series at all. I know some people here share my feelings on this issue so if those of you who've read the series, and are so inclined to weigh in with your opinions on the books in question, please do.
I've also rediscovered Sandra Brown, who I have not read in ages. Last book of hers I really really loved was Charade, but I was burned by subsequent offerings so I stayed away from her stuff for a number of years. Recently I came across PLAY DIRTY, though, and it was such a page turner, as are most of Brown's books. I stayed up all night reading it. I love the hero, Griff. He's not your perfect, cookie cutter, know it all do-gooder romance hero. He was flawed and complex, very real and human and I love him. I enjoyed the story, but I was disappointed with the ending. After everything he'd gone through, I wanted more for Griff. Anyway, Brown definitely writes these scary, sexy cool guys you ladies enjoy so much. I'd say she even does a better job of it than Linda Howard. Not a fan of her tendency to have her heroines married to other men throughout the course of her books, though. Adultery is never right, I don't care how justifable it may be. Let the hero and heroine be SINGLE when they get it on. I wonder if Brown is living out some personal fantasy through her female characters? You never know, stranger things have happened...
Davina,
All The Queen's Men was my first Linda Howard book. John stood out to me. It was something about him. I wish his story was more in depth. The good bad boy needed to be shown more, in my opinion.
You might not like All The Queen's Men, but it was okay to me.

Hi Davina. I guess I should warn you that there is more same sex interactions in the following Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I can't tell you whether it will impede your ability to read the rest of the book or not. I don't seek out m/m romance, but I'm very invested in the series, so I'll read all of the books that come out, even the ones that focus on the same sex relationship. I think that if you're able to read Vishous' book, that might tell you if you want to continue. I don't want to spoil you, so I'll leave it at that.

I have to co-sign 100% on Soulless. If I had to make a top ten list this year this book would be right up there in the top 3. Excellent book. It was one that I finished and then went right back and read again.
And I also agree with the paranormal thing. I am off my paranormal feed right now. So much so that I have been reading Kathleen Gilles Seidel books written in the late 80s to mid 90s. Mainstream romantic/women's fiction. Very different from stuff being written these days. Very good though. Also going old school Regency romances with Joan Wolf and Elizabeth Mansfield.

Please spoil me, in this case I don't mind. Besides, I already know a bit about the storylines already so it doesn't really matter now. Define "same sex interactions" please. Have they kissed, made love, groped etc? When you answer you can put a spoiler warning so that anyone else who might be reading can be aware.
Can you also answer me this: if I skip books 4 & 5 will I be completely lost with Phury's book?

V and Butch don't even kiss, but they snuggle because of something that happens to Butch that makes it necessary to have more than casual contact with Vishous. Vishous is in love with Butch. There is not question in my mind of this. Butch loves and cares for Vishous, but not in the same way. Some readers feel that Ward cheated them out of a HEA. But I like Butch with Marissa and Vishous with Jane. So I think you might be okay with Lover Revealed and Lover Unbound if you don't mind the intimacy and V's longing for Butch. He doesn't longer for him after he meets Jane, though.
Lover Enshrined has some more male/male stuff between Qhuinn and Blay. Blay is gay and Qhuinn is bi. They share a steamy kiss but Qhuinn rebuffs Blay. Recently Ward revealed that they will have a HEA.
Personally I think you can read these books and still like them despite the homoerotic aspects, if you are tolerant of it to any extent. If you are seriously against homosexuality, you might have an issue. I know a few people who stopped reading the series for that reason. I say give them a try. If you can handle the V/B interactions, I think you might be okay with Lover Enshrined as well. I hope this helps.

The BDB order is:
Dark Lover
Lover Eternal
Lover Awakened
Lover Revealed
Lover Unbound
Lover Enshrined
Lover Avenged
There's also The Insider's Guide, which I haven't read yet.
Lover Mine comes out in April. Were all sitting on our hands waiting for it!

Eugenia, I read Lover Awakened first and frankly it is what got me hooked on the series. After reading Zsadist's book (lover Awakned) and then Butch's (Lover Revealed), I went back and read the first two. I Have to honestly say that, imo, if I had read the first book, Dark Lover, first I probably would not have continued the series. It is a nice book but to me it was nothing special. But books 3 & 4 are damned good, with Lover Awakened probably being one of the best paranormal books I've read.
But then here is where I depart because I fell right off the BDB love train right in the middle of Lover Unbound and decided to stay off after Lover Enshrined.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a vampire book or vampire series that's interracial? The Borders book shelf is definitely lacking. Is there anything I can find online?
