SweetT, is Fantasy Lover the first of the Dark Hunter series? I thought about tackling that series but there's like 20 something books! Not counting the Dream Hunters and the other hunter people. I got scared. May have to set aside a month to tackle that. :-)
Would you recommend it?
Would you recommend it?

Thanks, SweetT. This sounds like audio book material lol. That way I can go through them while I'm working. :-) I had heard that she uses the same plot devices a lot throughout the series so I may break up each book. Looking forward to your thoughts on more of the series.

That said, I wasn't impressed with the series. I stuck it out til about the 6th or 7th book and gave up.

Ah nice - glad to hear that you are digging it.
You know, I've never listened to a book on tape ...
You should try it, Justine. It's pretty fun. Some work more than others and it does depend on how good the narrator reads the book. Some can take you straight out of the book. :-/

Just wanted to give another view on SK. Personally, I love her books. I think that it's best to think of each series as a different thing because comparing them tends to make one series fall short. That's just my experience. I like SK's DarkHunters for the humor, the tortured heroes, and the Greek mythology. I absolutely would not compare them to a darker, more intense universe such as the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I can see you possibly liking the Marjorie Liu series more if you started with that one, SweetT, because the tone is more serious. SK was my first paranormal romance series, and she introduced me to the genre, so I take her series separate from the other ones. I will say that it's either like it or hate it. Some people are dedicated fans, and some really dislike it. My favorite paranormal series is defnitely Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark, followed by a tie between the Ghostwalkers by Christine Feehan, and the Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. I would say try not to let preconceived notions go in with your reading them, because that does affect you. People were raving about the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. I have read the first three and liked it, but not loved it. I was expecting way too much, and it wasn't fair to the author, because it affected how I perceived it. I think if I had a clear mind, I would have enjoyed it more for its own self.

Also Marjorie Liu has more diverse mythologies that cover more fantastical/mythical creatures than SK. I do like seeing the whole gamut of beings in the paranormal romances. That's part of why I love the Immortals After Dark series. Plus she tackles Norse mythology, which I am fascinated with.
Nothing wrong with that, SweetT. I hope I didn't come off as being critical. I certainly don't mean to be. At the end of the day, we all have different tastes. It is rough reading stuff that's too similar back to back, that's why I don't recommend reading the Black Dagger books and the Midnight Breed books back to back.

What is wrong with Gwenveal? lol lol
Sharon are you craving the next book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series like the rest of us?

new_user wrote: "Sharon, wasn't Rehv dreamy? *swoon* LOL."
I am glad I bought Gwenveal's book yesterday so I wouldn't be acting all crazy because of the Black Dagger Brotherhood lol

You like Rhev New_user?
He is nice..I like him
I was reading Secrets of a Pregnant Princes, but it's not my cup of tea, so I've put the book away and is now rereading One White Rose by Julie Garwood. It's Douglas' story.

I am glad it worked out for him and his mate..he needed that.
Zhadist is still my favourite..I really really felt bad for the things he went through
Phury is a close second, or maybe Vishous

oh which one is Lover Mine?
and when is it coming out?

JM upset me a little in Lover Avenged!!!!

He certainly did!!!
I felt bad for him after the thing with Xhex...but yeesh!!
I could not see myself doing that so I do not understand it

Thanks Sharon and Arch.
Sharon I was mad at JM too. I hope he gets that crap out of his system. I know Xhex hurt him, but he was acting out and hurting himself. I love the guy, and that's why it hurt to see it.

!
Right there with you, Sharon. Promiscuity in a romance novel is a huge turn off for me. Too much of that in real life. I don't want to tell others how to live, but I like to spend my free time on things that are worth it. That's not worth it for my precious time. Plus I feel that it was very damaging for JM and I just love him so much. I want better for him. The same for Qhuinn. I lot of fans think his lifestyle is hot. It just makes me sad that he'll sleep with anything that moves. :(

Quinn's sluttish ways are not good either. I know after they go through the transition they need certain things but yeesh!

Let me sniff into my handkerchief!! After all that I need a cup of tea and a scone. AND I still see John as a boy lol

I think I don't mind JM's behavior as much because he so clearly doesn't enjoy it. He's totally acting out. He is a young guy, and we can definitely see that, LOL.

I was disgusted by the behaviour of Quinn's family, how could they treat him like that? Because of eye colour and the foolishways of the Glymera? Gah!

--Good point, NU.
--I agree that JM is acting out. I will be okay about it if he snaps out of it and focuses on more important things in his book. And I hope that things work out for him and Xhex to have a very happy ending.

Yeah that was awful how his family treated him. That's part of his sex problem. He has love self esteem.

Good term Danielle "love self esteem"
Total Freudian slip. But very appropriate.
Davina, Dark Torment is an old school fave of mine. It's definitely a bodice ripper from back in the day but I enjoyed it. We missed seeing you around on here.
