What is everyone currently reading?
(Waving) Hey SweetT. I appreciate the warning. I know that Lora Leigh is not Danielle Friendly. I am trying so hard not to reach for a Carpathian book and read something else. I'm in Christine Feehan withdrawl and it's only been two days since I finished Murder Game. I'm reading a regency romance called Prospero's Daughter by Nancy Butler. It's really a wonderful book.
Too bad The Red Heart of Jade didn't quite flow for you. I guess everyone author has a not so good one.

Heya Sweet T! That's a bummer about The Red Heart. I've been meaning to try Marjorie Lui but now I know which ones to keep an eye out for in the series when I start it. :-)

I'm reading Night of Desire by Marilyn Lee.

I'm very interested in the gargoyle paranormals. I know Vicki Taylor has two: Carved in Stone and Flesh and Stone. I haven't read them yet, but they sound good.
SweetT I know a lot of people love Lora Leigh. I just can't go there with the anal sex. It's gross to me (no offense to anyone). But I have a lot of other really good books I can read, so I guess I'm not hurting. I'm glad you're liking them, though.

I tried Heart of Stone by CE Murphy too, but I didn't enjoy that as much, even though her version of gargoyles is interesting.

Re: the Breed books, they're really not that intense. If you've read Feehan, it doesn't get grittier than that, but I've found if you've read one Breed book you've read them all.

Thanks SweetT! Can I read the Dirk & Steele books out of sequence? Or does the story unfold one after the other. I don't mind hopping if I can stay up to date and not get too lost. :-)
They sound awesome.

Then I'm not missing anything and I don't have to put up with the objectionable sex content. That just reinforces my decision to stick with Feehan and some of the other non-icky erotic paranormal romance.

Sweet T, I tried to stay away from Christine Feehan books and I couldn't. I started Dark Destiny last night before bedtime (well after). That's why I'm really tired right now. LOL. I agree that each Carpathian book is distinctly different. I love her writing. I know some people say bad things about her, but I admire her as an author and my life has been enriched by reading her books.
Thanks for the warning about LL's books. I think I decided not to read that series. No point in getting sucked in if I can't read all the books. If you look at my enormous tbr pile, I'm not really missing out on any books. But I really do appreciate the information.
I definitely will be reading the rest of the Dirk and Steele series. I am sucked into that one.

You definitely helped a lot, thanks SweetT! That's good to know. Now I can start on the book I had my eye on. :-)
Sweet T, Shadow Touch and Soul Song. Danielle got me on a Russian hero kick and ST has that in there. Soul Song is IR from what I understand and I really wanted to read that one after. I'll probably start with one just to get an intro. I reread your post and misunderstood the first time, ack. That should teach me for reading too fast. :-)

girl, it has me hooked!!! And I'm not an addictive personality type person: but I can't put them down. But the weird thing about it. I can only do them when I'm on the subway? I'm a freak!

but that's a good addiction. you don't need to stop that one!
That's good to hear you say that, Justine. I feel bad about my book buying, although I'm not sure why. I have a place to put the books, I read them, I save money and don't overspend, and I work lots of overtime, so I'm not spending money on them I don't have. Yet I feel guilty. I think it comes from growing up without having a lot of money. I feel I have to watch my spending.

what i need to do is buy a bigger house! let me go check my lotto numbers!
Okay, I'll shut it. I have been properly chastised. Thanks Justine for smacking some sense into me. :)
Some books have crack in them. I firmly believe that Outlander has such a substance cause I have to fight from going back to it. Harlequin suspenses to cause no matter how I try to stay away, they entice me back.
(hehe)
(hehe)
Harlequin Presents for me. I shake my head at all the cliche tropes in them, but I keep going back.

SweetT if buying books with Student Loan money helps you keep your sanity, there is nothing wrong with that. I bought books when I was on loan money. Nothing wrong with that. We have to have our ways of keeping sane. Don't feel bad about that.
Justine might come and get you if you don't get off yourself.
I have a room that is the library in my house, but I'm outgrowing it. I will put some shelves in the hallway since I got the okay from my mother and sister, with whom I share a house.

most welcome. don't mention it.
and i did not even have one number in the $333M lotto. I guess more books will continue to find their way to the floor

Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series did it for me. My gawwwwwwwdddddddd! My life practically came to a stand still!! Until I read all of them!
I'm currently reading a Harlequin book:
Texas Gun Smoke by Joanne Wayne.
I wonder if she's kin to John Wayne.

How are you liking Texas Gun Smoke? Sounds like a book I'd like.
I'm reading Cry No More by Linda Howard. The hero is a sexy Texican (Mexican father/American mother). I'm loving Diaz. I think Arch would call him a good, bad boy.

Tina I love ScarySexyCool. Can I steal that phrase for my dangerous heroes shelf? I think I am a psycho. I love these kinds of heroes. I so want to marry Diaz! You know how I feel about the Cal Leandros series. Love it! I hope you enjoy A Hunger Like No Other despite Emmaline. I loved the book. Haven't read Heart of Stone but it's in my tbr pile.

Cry No More is supposed to be a real tearjerker. I haven't cried yet, but it's pretty awful what happened to Milla. It's a great story though.

Go for it! I must be a psycho too because that is my absolute favorite kind of hero. ScarySexyCool is the hallmark of a Linda Howard hero. Nobody, imo, can get quite the balance of very scary, very sexy and protective as all hell like she does.
