It's all good, even if you don't like SK after a few more books, SweetT. What's important is you spend time on books that you enjoy.
I haven't read past book 2 in the Dirk and Steele series, but I will. I'm definitely hooked on those.
I've heard nothing but good things about Dark Slayer. I just finished Dark Demon and I really enjoyed it. The mage storyling really adds another intricate layer to the storyline. It may take a while to get to Dark Slayer, but I'm excited. I heard Lair of the Lion was good too. It's nice to know I have some goodies to look forward to.

Work can take a person away from fun, but whenever you do get a chance to drop in, do so. :)

Sweet T! You haven't read Ward yet! You need to get on that, LOL. ;)
SweetT, I was fortunate that I found most of the Dark books at the used bookstore. I did buy about four of them new, but it wasn't too bad an expense at the time.
I completely agree with your strategy. I do the same thing, although I might buy two or three of a new series I have a good feeling about.
I'm sure you can find all the BDB books at the ubs. I bought about half of them used, and half new. I've also found some on the $1 bin and took them whole to seduce other readers into the series (laughs evilly).

Hi Cinquetta. Lover Mine hasn't come out yet. If you're interested in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, start with this one,
.
The Julie Garwood Claybourne series is related. Start with For the Roses.
I hope that helps.

Dreamwild- I'm a huge Black Dagger fan. But some of the stories are stronger than others. I'll wait until you catch up to tell you my fav.
LaVerne

you're not the only fan, lol. i started reading it (even though i'm reading a bunch of other books) b/c everyone else just couldn't stop talking about the series. so i checked it ou..."
Love those tortured souls. And Z's story is my fav. LOL.
LaVerne
Hey LaVerne. Great to hear you're a BDB fan too. Maya I was reading the first two books to get to Z's story. There, now it's out in the open. I plan to go and reread the first two books now that I have become immersed in the world. I think each book has something different to offer, but my favorites are the books starting with Z.

Re: the hip hop, don't expect too much. I think the point is that they listen to pumping pop music. I think they listen to some boring rock music too at some point (or one of them does; maybe they have different "tastes"). At any rate, in this way everyone can relate to her men because while everyone may not like 50 Cent everyone's heard him, whereas if she had chosen a more obscure artist... *shrug*
Maya has been SUCKED in. I kind of ignore the music references, because I'm kind of over hip hop. Some people think it's hokey the way they talk. It doesn't really bother me, because the hip hop culture is not a Black thing anymore. It's kind of gone beyond that IMHO. I think it's funny that these White vamps are cooler than this Black woman is. :)
If there's help, we're in trouble, because my addiction is just growing. There is definitely crack in those books. :)

Very good points, Maya. I like alternative rock, very much. My sister is a hard rock fan since the 80s.

BTW, Danielle, I love your listimania over on Amazon. I have found quite a few good reads from it.
Right now, however, I am about to start Laura London's The Windflower. I got it through interlibrary loan. I just couldn't see spending $25 when it has gotten such mixed reviews.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that it's a winner.
Thanks, Shunda. I'm glad it's been of help to you. I was lucky enough to get a copy of The Windflower. I hope you enjoy it. Good to hear from you. :)

I have read Hitchcock's anthologies growing up. I'm a sucker for creepy/scary short stories. I think you'll enjoy his anthologies, Eugenia.
Happy Reading.
Hey Tina, I've had Shiloh Walker recommended to me, but I'm not into the more erotic books. I hope you The Missing though.

Tina, I heard that one was dark. How did you find it?

I loved the hero. Even though he had a jerk moment, he was always very sympathetic.
Danielle - Walker does write paranormal erotica but I would put this book firmly in the romantic suspense category. There are two sex scenes and several sexy-longing scenes and she does use more explicit language than one normally finds in mainstream romance. But I would definitely not categorize this as erotica.

Hugs, Eugenia. I hope they are fun scary and not unfun scary. Maybe you'll get some cuddles out of it. :)

Hi SweetT! We missed you. I was hoping you were doing okay. Liu is a great storyteller, and I completely agree with you on the connection between her couples. Shadow Touch was magic for me in that sense.

Sorry to hear that about your ebooks Maya.
I don't have any recommendations Maya. I am not even reading interracial stories right now. I have just started writing an interracial story for the NaNoWriMo challenge. I have to write Courage's next installment, hopefully sometimes this week.

The other is the Phoenix Chronicles series by Lori Handeland, beginning with Any Given Doomsday. The second book is once again better; it's smoother than the first. At least, the heroine's powers are clearer. And there's plenty of tension here too. Another triangle, LOL. She's mixed, one guy's Navajo, another's white I would guess. This one's more immediately apocalyptic, since she's always on the brink of Doomsday, but they're both driven by save-the-earth scenarios (and relationships!), LOL.
Bummer about your current reads, Maya. :-( I wish I could offer some recs myself but I'm not reading any IRs at the moment like Arch. I'm also working on a short and a potential novel for NaNo also so my heavy reading has been put on the back burner. Currently hooked on Ray Bradbury. Wow LOVE! Where has he been all my life? If you like paranormals that tip the edge of suspense and horror he writes some amazing stories. Think narrative Twilight Zone. :-)
Also finished up Anne Stuart's Black Ice from her Ice series. LOVING it! I almost don't want it to end lol.

What is the heroine's heritage in Any Given Doomsday, NU? I have that one in the tbr.

Hi Rae. I love Ray Bradbury. What an incredible fantasist he was. I'm sooo glad you liked Black Ice. Yay!!!

She was an orphan, so she doesn't know, but she indicates a few times that she's of mixed heritage. I think that's one of the questions of the series, who her parents are.

I also have the latest Dirk & Steele book on tap, probably after I read all the Harris books.

Edit: And I didn't even realize this, but the third book is coming out tomorrow. Awesome! Here I thought I was doomed to wait. LOL. That's a nice surprise.
That is a great surprise, NU. I'll have to pull out the first book in the series when I get back home.
Lynn Viehl is one heck of a writer. I have to read all the Darkyn before I read this one, NU. Although I already bought it.
I just finished a graphic novel Green Arrow Quiver, written by Kevin Smith. Man is Green Arrow fine! I've had a thing for him since I first saw him on the Justice League Unlimited show on Cartoon Network. I think I mentioned my penchant for drooling over a cartoon character. Yeah, I have some lust issues for Mr. Oliver Queen. Okay, I'm off to have a nice cold drink. :)
