I am interested in reading Passing. I have to read it this year for a challenge. Also , I have heard many good things about it from my GR friends.

Some of us have been discussing a buddy read of Dracula by Bram Stoker. We have discussed a few possible start dates. We seem to be settling on starting Monday April 5th. Does this sound like a good date for most?

I’m with Michaela, I wouldn’t mind a reread of Dracula but I can’t manage it now. Maybe I’ll join in on the discussion. Enjoy! 😊
Back in January, Brina, Sue, Terry and I talked about reading The Way West (1949: 352 pages) together as a Buddy Read in May, if it did not advance to the polls that month. Is there still interest in reading this together? I'm willing, if you are. I think it's going to be a great read. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1950.

I'm still in Shirley! I'll need to start in the 2nd half of the month though.

Thanks Michaela and Natalie for responding. Several will read in April. I and another will be reading Dracula at a slower rate, so if you can join later, please do.

I also just picked up an annotated copy of the book. Looking forward to this buddy read whenever we can make it happen.
Mods will you please set up a month-long buddy read of Dracula by Bram Stoker starting on Monday April 5th?

I'd like to join. I read The Big Sky in 2017 and have had The Way West on my tbr since then.

Glad to see you joining us, Tara, and I'm sorry to hear that your schedule is already full, Michaela and Natalie.

I've been wanting to read The Way West for quite a while. It's nice to know that you have already read the sequel. I'm sure you will have lots of insight to share!

Moderators...Can you create a Buddy Read thread from April 15 - May 31 for The Way West by A.B. Guthrie Jr.?
Thank you!

I've asked for a Buddy Read from April 15 - May 31 to accommodate you and anyone else for whom an extended schedule works better. I may even start a little earlier myself, if I see May is going to be a busy month. So glad you'll be joining in!

Lilly wrote: ... Glad to see you joining us, Tara, and I'm sorry to hear that your schedule is already full, Michaela and Natalie Hi Lilly! I joined the book club today, and I'm glad to have found that Dracula, which I've been meaning to read for some time now, will be read this month by some of you.
As I said before, I'm new so I'm not really sure how this "buddy read" works. Do we read at our own pace, or do we have some deadlines set up before? I'd love to join you if it's ok!
I'm also new to the Buddy Read. Do we need to register to join the discussion? Or do we just join in? I'm interested in the Dracula Buddy read
Glad you're joining us, Yami, and welcome to the group! We have a general time frame in which we are planning to read, but as always your pace and how long you take to read the book is up to you. So no worries. Just go to the thread and join the discussion whenever you feel like it. :)
Just like the other threads, Liesl, no obligations. :) The request thread is just to help us find other people who are interested in reading along, and to coordinate.

I would also like to join The Decameron group. Thank you Aubrey,

Thank you very much, Lilly! Great, I'll start reading it ASAP :)
Liesl wrote: "I'm also new to the Buddy Read. Do we need to register to join the discussion? Or do we just join in? The purpose of Buddy Reads is to read in a group a book that has not won a monthly poll. It is not meant to exclude anyone. : )

Carolien wrote: "Mods, please can you create a thread for Passing for our buddy read in May? Thanks!"I read it in December- good book. Maybe you know there is a movie of it coming out. I just checked and it has good reviews from movie critics.
A group of us are planning to read A View of the Harbour by Elizabeth Taylor (not the screen star). We will be reading in July. Just letting others know in case they would like to plan to join in.

I'll join in. Angel is on my tbr list but I never get around to it. I'll give the author a whirl with A View of the Harbour.
