How the book qualified: #3 in the Swanson Court Series

Review:

3 stars

This was the third and final installment of the Swanson Court series. This book begins exactly where book 2 leaves off. For this reason, I highly suggest that you do read this series in order.

The first few pages were basically a recap, and immediately Landon and Rachel are together again. The book was full of angst but had me wanting more. I wanted to like both Rachel and Landon, but I did not care for them at all. I found Rachel to overthink everything, and there just wasn’t enough character building of Landon. I would have liked to see more of the ending wrap up, such as why Landon still has nightmares after all the time that has passed rather than fast forwarding 7 years.

I do like the author and will look for more books by her. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My review was not marred by the free copy.

Yep, did so love. All awesomely sci-fi and touching romance. Loved this book lots and lots. There were a lot of fun things about this world. I really felt for Brady drug off to fight a war he has no interest in, only wanting to do his time and get back to Earth as quickly as he can to take care of his little sister. His entire world was tossed into chaos with the return of Cameron from his abduction by the alien Faceless.

I adored the way that Cameron and Brady were connected. The whole you are my heartbeat thing...so melting right now. I felt for Brady and his confusion and fear. His anger and helplessness at the world was totally understandable. It was easy to forget at times how young Brady is. So much has happened to make him grow up to fast, but his fears still resound in his young soul. Cameron is such a dear man too. He's been through so much but he still cares about the fate of humanity and wants to do what's right.

Fantastic story and I'm super duper glad there's a sequel.

I love reading a book and having zero expectations only to be pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. That's what this was. Two college football players, one gay, one not....yet. They build a great friendship first and things just get all sexy from there. The smexing could have been a whole lot hotter but it was sweet and thankfully, on page. No hardcore angst, a bit of drama but not overdone. Basically, a sweet sports themed love story.

3 stars

Review:

I have really enjoyed the Bridgertons series up until this book. It pains me to only give this one a 3 stars. I so wanted to like Hyacinth's story more than I did. There were so many side stories that the reader would surmise that more would happen at the conclusion; sadly it did not. There were several supporting characters that could have really developed into a different ending.

There were a couple of conflicts in this book. The main conflict between Gareth and Hyacinth was rather boring and lackluster. I did not find their love scenes to be endearing but rather more confusing. I loved the first few books of this series. Even though this was not my favorite book, I will continue with the series to see how well the other characters are developed.

This was really 3.5 Stars I'm rounding up to 4 because the quality of the style of writing kept me engaged and the story flowed very smoothly. On the other hand I wanted to smack Asher at numerous points in this story for being an over-bearing unreasonable asshole. Daniel falls into the "Jory realm" of being too perfect for words, and yet so adorable I still can't help but love him. Apparently there is nothing he can't do/learn quickly and yet is still such a bumbling mess on his own.

Other than Asher's moments of insane jealous and overreaction I liked these two together. I enjoyed how out of his element Daniel made Asher feel. That he opened him up to allowing real feelings in. But his irrational jealous reactions went just a little too overboard for me and feel into the unsafe land. I would worry that he had to potential to really hurt Daniel. I don't feel like any of the issues were really addressed in the story other than the two men admitting finally that all they really wanted was to be together.

Altogether the flow of the story carried me along in a nice happy haze that only looking back after finishing do I realize how much certain aspects bothered me. That little something extra that would take this story into one I really loved. Too many unresolved bits for me to really dive into loving this.

Wow. Not quite as "Wow" as the first one but still....We have 2 man sex virgins in this one and I was wondering whether they were going to stay that way. So stubborn! Israel was the more stubborn of the two and I gotta say that I loved his reaction to the girly scene. All macho, manly, "I'll kill you"...yum! When they finally do get to it, they really get to it. That was some smokin' sex. I was so happy to see Dima and X in this one. They even had some sexy times here. Yay! A bit violent with a touch of girly bits but overall a great read. Now onto the next one because I've got to get to Quinn's story eventually!

I read Okay for Now not long ago by Mr. Schmidt and really enjoyed it. I decided to give this one a go as well. I really, really enjoyed it. It gave me all the feels. I was laughing out loud and legit crying for some of the things this poor boy had to go through with his crappy parents. It takes place in the 60s and reminded me a lot of the antics that Ralphie goes through in The Christmas Story. I love how Schmidt brought up a lot of current events for the time period and how them affected people: MLK shooting, Vietnam war, protests etc. This is an excellent book for adults to read to reminisce, but as a parent, I'm not sure my child would have enjoyed it as much as they would enjoy a more current day story.
