This installment was beautifully written, and was filled with humor, dept, and emontion and it was a strong and satifying conclusion to an incredible series. I felt sad saying goodbye again to this series that i have come to love

Review:
I was looking forward to reading Julie's story because she was a contradiction to me. A take no prisoners or crap kind of girl, but at the same time afraid to let her man crush know how she feels outright.
After, throwing hints at Nathan (man crush) for so long, she decides she is done and embarks upon her sexual fantasy.
Nathan's mind has been blown, and he is ready to pursue Julie, but it seems he is too little too late. He will stop at nothing to get his woman.
Nathan was a huge departure from the other guys in this series. He is no less alpha, but he is also not into the same things sexually as the other guys are. In this and other ways he is the perfect man for Julie.
My only problem was that there wasn't enough of them getting to really know each other, and then bam, I am supposed to believe that they love one another. That was a bit far fetched for me, because even though they were both in the other books there was no mention of them ever really spending time getting to know each other besides her talking about him with her friends or her giving him a massage. So I'm sure you see what I mean.

Blood and Fire Book 1: A Paranormal BBW Werewolf vs. Vampire Special Forces Romance - Deva Long
Completed: Feb 17/15
3 stars
How it qualifies:
- a title beginning with "B"
Review:
This was an interesting story. I wanted to give this a 4 star review but I had to take away a star because of the sloppy editing. The story started off with action (right in the middle of an intense sex scene) and kept on running. I felt at times that I needed more information than what was given. 1/3 of the way into the story and we have the first mention of a vampire. Different kind of vampires that have adapted to the sun.
The writing was solid other than the sloppy editing. Was a super engaging read and despite the sloppy editing I will pick up the second installment.

Book: Borderline: An Annika Bengtzon Thriller by Liza Marklund
Date: 2/17/2016
Criteria: Title starting with B
Rating: ★★
Review: I was a big fan of the Annika Bengtzon series when it first started, but for some reason stopped reading it after book 6. This was book 9 and the first one from the series that I've read in several years. It reminded me why I abandoned the series. I enjoy the part of the books that focuses on the mystery that journalist Annika is investigating, but I don't care much for the private life of her. She's not necessary a character I like (and to be honest, I liked her less for each book I read). In this book, the focus was very much on her private life; her husband has been kidnapped while in Africa. The book was not necessary bad, I just was not invested in the characters or the plot.

Week 5 Spot #37

Book: Rock Redemption by Nalini Singh
Date: 2/18/16
Criteria: Book #3 in Rock Kiss Series
Rating: I can't decide so I'm going with 2 1/2 stars
Review: Sigh. I love Nalini Singh. I have loved everything she has ever written. Except this one. There was sooooo much internal dialogue/angst on the part of both characters that it just got tiresome. And the H was an ass for the first 2/3 of the story--ultimately due to his childhood trauma and somewhat explainable, but still hard to forgive. And then there was a silly side story about a stalker that just didn't make sense. And I feel like there needs to be anther book with these 2 characters because there is still SO much to work through. I'm going to go read something light and fluffy now.

This series is frustrating. I agree with you about the first one--it was kind of Meh for me. But Rock Courtship (the novella) was cute and Rock Hard (the second book) I thoroughly loved.

Book: Paradisoffer by Kristina Ohlsson
Date: 2/20/2016
Criteria: #4 in the Fredrika Bergman and Alex Recht series
Rating: ★★★★★
Review: I have been saving this book for a time when I needed a guaranteed great book, and it did not disappoint. It's the fourth book about Superintendent Alex Recht and investigative analyst Fredrika Bergman, currently working at the Justice Department. They team up with Eden Lundell from the Swedish security service's counterterrorism unit to deal with the hijacking of a Swedish airplane en route to the US. Like the previous books in the series, it had everything you could wish from a great mystery/thriller: very complex and realistic characters, and an expertly crafted plot with details I didn't figure out until everything was revealed in the last chapter.

Must be something in the air I am changing my book to City of Light by Keri Arthur - new release January5 2016....two chapters in and all I want to do is just read it....so far its awesome.....

I don't quite know what to say about this one.
I guess first off, as short as it is (I read it in a few hours), it's not an "easy" read. The way the sentences are put together, the way the words fit together, it's very awkward and stuttering in places. I kept having to go back and re-read, making sure I understood what I had just been over. There were these huge chunks of information about physics and religion and science and mostly, I just wanted them to end.
The whole story is so bizarre and jarring (as I'm sure it's meant to be) that I never really connected with any of it because I never knew if any of it was real. Granted, Calvin has schizophrenia so I suppose the author accomplished that fairly well.
I don't know. Quick read but I wouldn't say it was necessarily good.

Review: This is one of my favorite series. This installment, however, was very good but not one of my favorites. One of the things I love about this series is that at the end of the books, you are not left with a bunch of questions and things that didn't quite fit together. Well, the previous three books accomplished that task while this one didn't do as well. Mickey Haller took on foreclosures and one of his clients was charged with the murder of one of the bank executives in charge of leading the foreclosure on her house. This took place during the big scam years ago when lenders were approving loans that shouldn't have been approved and then later screwing the homeowners over when the payments almost tripled and they could no longer afford the payments. Connelly did a great job of putting together a story that many could relate to if they were aware of the huge mortgage scandal and crisis years ago. The story pulled me in the way all of the rest of them do but towards the end, while I was enjoying the "aha" moment, I was left with some unanswered questions which frustrates me. But, even with that small bit of frustration, the book was still pretty awesome and I will eagerly continue the series.

Consumed took me on a rollercoaster ride. I laughed, sceramed in frudstration and at the same time was on the edge of my seat during all the action scences. This book was truly amazing. Kate and Jordan had some serious chemistry going on but, they were both also two stubborn people. RZ has created a complex world tjat i am exicted to lose myself in.

City of Light - Keri Arthur
Date Finished:February 25/16
Rating: 5★
Review: I love when I start a new series and from the first chapter I am so engrossed with the story. Keri Arthur is a new author to me and I am so glad she has lots books for me to discover. City of Light has everything that I love about the urban fantasy genre. The action is intense, the characters are wonderfully engaging and the plot is absolutely original.
This story has supernatural species like ghosts, shifters, vampire, and demons, but the world they inhabit is rather unusual. It's a world where the very fabric of reality had been torn apart by bombs that had ended the war between humans and shifters. Humans lost, but the bombs opened gateways into a different realm which demons and wraiths use to invade our reality. What remains of the human and shifter population now lives in heavily fortified cities that are constantly bathed in light to prevent vampires from infiltrating them.
Tiger is a shifter-vampire humanoid. She is a Dechet - genetically engineered by the military to act as a "lure" - to seduce targets, collect their secrets, then kill them.
She's a strong fighter, very caring, a survivor of the war and a protector of children. Living in the remains of the secret base with the ghosts of the children she could not save when her side lost the war one hundred years ago.
I really enjoyed this intriguing new world. This story has quite of bit of high action drama as well as some romance. Book 1 ends with a cliff hanger and now I have to wait until November 2016 to continue on.

Criteria: Book 4 in the Guardians of Eternity series

Review: It has been a while since I've read any books from this series. It's your basic old school PNR and a fine way to kill a few hours but nothing spectacular. There was a little too much insta-love and not a whole lot of character development, but there was a decent amount of action and the characters were nice enough. And it's always nice to see some of the more interesting characters from previous books again. I will probably continue with the series at some point as the set up for the next book was interesting.

#4 in the Arcane Society series
Review:
I started this series about 4 years ago and really enjoyed the first three books I think I read them one after another. Maybe it was the time between reading the last one but I just could not get into this book. Leona, the heroine was a likeable character while the hero Thaddeus (gotta love the name!) is all that he should be, I just wasn't feeling it. The mystery was decent, the comeuppance to the bad guys gratifying, and the additional details about the Arcane Society's roots satisfying. The other Arcane Society novels had more suspense and better love scenes. This book does let the reader know how Jones& Co. and the matchmaking of the Society were started.
It's basically a sort of mystery/suspense tale in which a mesmerist who can make people do things meets a female crystal-gazer who is as strong as him. They are both trying to retrieve a powerful crystal and keep it out of the hands of the bad guys. It's a very formulaic plot, with the obligatory evil serial killer who preys on prostitutes and has no conscience, although he's not smart enough to realize he's being used by the other bad guy, Lord Delafield, to find the crystal so he can join the Arcane Society.
I think the idea of the series is a very clever one in that Jayne Ann Krantz can write books with the ongoing theme of the Arcane Society that carries over from the past (as Amanda Quick)into the present(as JAK). Some of the previous books in this story have been pretty good.
I will continue with the series but not right away. I think I have 2 more sitting on my shelf to be read. Maybe on a lazy summer afternoon at the beach I will start again.

Review: This whole series are fun, quick reads that are highly entertaining if you watch any reality tv. They aren't going to win any Pulitzer's but the characters are usually likeable and the situations are believable--again, if you like reality competitions.
Brodie--the H--was kind of an ass in a previous book, so it was good to see a nicer side of him. Kandis--the h--was tough and determined and it was fun to watch Brodie have to work to get her attention. In general, fun fluff to pass a few hours.

I'm still missing a book choice from Shan. How are you doing, Shan?

I had a really hard time getting into this book. There were bits and pieces written in Spanish, and while that felt very authentic to the character, it was hard to read.
You know...because I don't speak Spanish.
I felt like I was missing the punchline a lot of the time. There were some laugh out loud moments and Gabi is definitely one of the more unique YA voices I've read recently. But yeah, it was tough to connect with in the end.

Sha and Shan, if you have a moment, could you do the same? I'm missing a book choice for Shan still so I just want to make sure we're all still here.
Thank you!

I am actually done with it and will post my review hopefully before I go to bed tonight.

Review: This is the second installment of this series and I will admit that I enjoyed the second more than the first. It was enjoyable for the most part and I love the building sexual tension between Kate and Curran. I also love Derek and the role he plays. This story is centered around Kate saving a feral girl who was running with a feral young boy. The plot was a bit of a spider web as she uncovers the story behind the girl and the boy. I think Kate's character is easily likable. What I struggle to connect with is the world they live. There are just too many darn creatures, a million rules I can't keep up with and several plots in one story. The books are fast-paced and Andrews doesn't waste time on useless drivel in her writing. So, for that, her books in the series are easy to read.
