When I get tired of reading, I'll probably end up doing the same thing. That, or watch the Twilight Zone marathon.

I've always entertained the notion that Medusa was misunderstood. I'm thinking of getting a new tat on my left forearm. I wear sleeves all the time for work because I have a full sleeve on my right. I'm starting to think left arm looks lonely, LOL!

I feel that way about Eve. Everyone blames her for giving Adam the Apple. But you know he was driving her crazy, complaining about there being nothing to eat, despite the world literally at their feet. She probably gave him the apple out desperation to make him shut up. How is that her fault? lol

Gigi (g-altagracia) | 229 comments Underway to New Years drinks with my family, reading what you girls are up to and getting inspired to get a new tattoo (my 3rd) too. Have been considering a full sleeve but am still not entirely sure so will start with something a bit smaller: a string of charms on my right fore arm. Still figuring out what charms but need to have skulls and adinkra symbols at least.

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments Do any of you have color in your tattoos? That's the one thing that stopped me from getting any, is color not being ideal for darker skin. Tattoos being permanent didn't want to settle.

I have some red in two, and magenta in one. The artist that I worked with was really good. He was experienced working with darker skin tones, and told me at our first consultation what colors would and wouldn't work for my skin tone.

And Pagan my second tattoo has some colors. A little bit of purple, green and yellow. The yellow is in need of a touch up though (after 3 years it faded). My tattoo artist told me this was likely to happen, so I was prepared. Am going for a touch up in a few weeks.

Okay you're not that far from my shade of brown. That gives me color hope. I just see so many janky green ink blobs, or boring black on darker skinned people. I was like, "if that's the only option, I'm good."

Especially because my favorite tattoos I'd want featured colorful flowers, and/or butterflies.

message 32: by Gigi (new)

Gigi (g-altagracia) | 229 comments It's like Michelle said: your tattoo artist should be experienced on dark(er) skin tones. I went to three different tattoo shops before I got the best artist. And he was a referral.

Gisele Walko | 796 comments I'm reading and writing, too. I didn't even know I liked the Hallmark channel, but my daughter was watching their Christmas movies, and I was like, Oh my God! All of these unknown movies with actors I don't know are absolutely amazing! So we watched like ten of them. On tattoos.....I have an Ankh on my back that I got 1,000 years ago. Mine is black. I didn't know how color would stand out.

That sounds so pretty. I just hardly ever see pretty colors on girls brown girls around here. Red sometimes, but nothing vivid. Watching one of my favorite reality shows "Ink Master" scared me even more. Every time they get a Black person in the chair black/grey, or disaster. Even the tattoo show on VH1 with mainly black customers always produces the most nothing mess I would ever want on my body. I was like if the best of the tattoo world is only coming up with that, WTH?

I love Ink Master! I wish had the skills necessary to be a tattoo artist. All you need to do is find an artist with good ratings, and experience working on your skin tone. The guy that did my sleeve had an album of his work and a lot of the clients had brown skin. The very first tattoo I ever got was done by a man who happened to be white, but had a black wife, and he did all of her tattoos- so you know he had to know what he was talking about!

It's crazy that the biker romance theme wouldn't even exist for this show. Being late to the show like myself it will change your view on a few books. I was giving people way too much credit for originality, only to find out they copied whole plot lines directly from this show. Way worse than any shade people throw about Twilight vs. Fifty. lol

I've been re-watching Prison Break on Netflix. I missed a lot of episodes the first time around. I still love Wentworth Miller. Sigh.

Also watching Blacklist, Scandal, and as I mentioned in another thread, Empire.

My sister and I got sucked into Blindspot. While I didn't like Sullivan Stapleton's character on Strike Back, I really like him on Blindspot. It's a cool show.
