Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins on Kindle. Finished 08/27Ugly, awkward duckling turns into? Well not exactly a swan, but a sometimes naive, independent, cute woman. Posie is now grown up, works at a Salvage company and is the adopted daughter of a couple who own a German restaurant. Her school years were lousy, being in love with the "Bad Boy Biker" who broke her heart when she overheard him calling her bad names at her Prom which was a disaster to begin with. Now Liam is back in town as a widower and with a teen age daughter. Two more mismatched people there is, but maybe something can grow. Maybe even a friendship. I liked the story line very much and for the most part the characters were strong and well defined. But I found Posie's dialogue too immature and out dated. There were way too many characters to keep track of, with their own story lines intertwined in the main story. Loved the animals though. I have always enjoyed Kristan Higgins books and will continue to read her books. This was just too fluffy! 3 stars

If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins in paperbackA story of two sisters, their marriages, dreams, pain and the people that surround them. A spouse cheating is not funny and the synopsis on the back should be read carefully. The author is NOT trying to say it is. The main characters have their quirks and torments. This book will tug at every emotion. It made me angry, sad, happy, laughing out loud and warm inside. The characters are so strong and well defined you feel like you know them and feel their feelings and think their thoughts. The story itself is very believable and makes you ask yourself, "what would I do in this situation?" I would absolutely recommend this book, but it should be noted that the language and content would be more for adult reading. I think the author did an amazing job with this story and the characters. I would give this many, many more stars than 5.

Lori Foster is a favorite of mine. I absolutely loved her Buckhorn and all her early series. Her latest books, like the SBC fighters, not so much.

First Street Church Romances: Love's Chance (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Emily Murdoch on KindleAn novella about two characters who feel they need to reunite with family, make amends and put their pasts behind them. Katherine Morrison ran off with at 16 with a man only to find out what a rogue he was. After being shamed as a fallen woman, the other life she could turn to was prostitution. One evening a stranger literally falls into her life. She helps him back to health only to find he knows someone in her hometown where her sister lives. Taking the money "Kitty" has stashed, her and Thomas Bryant get married for convenience and head to Spring Grove to their families. A very sweet story about healing, romance, forgiveness and trust. I really enjoy her stories so much. 5 stars

The Dream Unfolds by Barbara Delinsky in paperback. Finished 09/02Christine is an attractive, ambitious, independent woman who comes from a large family and wants to be noticed as the ultimate interior designer helping to develop the beautiful Crosslyn Rise estate into the most prestigious condominium estates. Gideon is the builder of these condominiums and has a huge stake in them as being one of the main investors. He can also be very arrogant, to self assured and a chauvinist. The two main characters mix like oil and water. Christine has no time or interest having a man in her life and Gideon has known many woman and not looking at settling down. I enjoyed the story line and characters of this book and I liked the anticipation of the romance. I liked how the author made transformations of the characters. A story of pasts, futures, romance, love and family. The language and subject content should be for adult readers. I did not know this was a book in a series, so I felt left hanging at the end. It would be a read on it's own, but I plan to start at the beginning and read the rest. 4 stars

The Highlander’s Challenge (Lairds of Dunkeld Series) Finished on KindleThis is the second book and I loved it as I did the first. I was introduced to Alina and Duncan in the first book. I really enjoyed reading how their love evolved. Duncan will not get permission to marry Alina until he proves his worth until he completes three tasks set by Brien. With Alina's undying love and her visions there may be a chance. They are dangerous and mysterious. This is a story of deep love, romance, family, mystery, intrigue and danger. Add in the times in Scotland, it is the perfect historical romance novel. Although it can be read as a stand alone story, I would suggest reading them in order to get the true knowledge of the characters and story line. I can't wait to read the rest by Ms. Ferguson. Excellent read!! 5 stars

I was given the story "Loving You At Christmas" by Kristin Wallace to read as voluntary review. I will review that story here and will read the rest in the book set over the holidays. Annaliese Matheson, once had a perfect career, husband and life. She is a widow now and put her acting career behind her she returns to Shellwater Key. Her friend Grayson has asked her to come and perform at the Paradise Dinner Theatre. Annaliese swears she will and cannot ever love again like she did her late husband. She finds herself attracted to the gorgeous, sexy father of a student she is coaching in the school play. Duke is totally different from her husband. Duke is determined to prove to Annaliese that she can love again. This was a wonderful, warm, emotional story in all ways. A time to move on, let go and love again! I have enjoyed the characters in her other books and loved to see them in this one. This can be read as a stand alone book, but after reading it, you will really enjoy the others in the series. Excellent!!

Home to Crossroads Ranch by LInda Goodnight in paperback. Finished 09/10A spiritual, inspirational love story of a woman who has pretty much given up on finding a christian husband so has turned her life to fostering children. She also teaches school and is involved in the ministry of her church and community. Nate is a rancher who is not looking for a wife and doesn't want children who believes God plays tug of war with him, so he works hard and volunteers for many things to try and make peace with himself and God. But that peace is misguided until he meets Rainy and the children. A beautiful story of love, forgiveness, acceptance and learning. There are some tough instances in this book, but it makes a person step back and think if they were in these situations. It made me laugh, cry and be angry at times. An emotional book. 5 stars

Almost finished with The FirmI must admit that I have been reading so many other books that I haven't read a Nora Roberts Book in a while. So I have decided the next book on my list will be Time and Again: Time Was / Times Change
I have a few chapters left before moving on to the next in the series. I've been distracted with writing and kids to be able to read them all when I want. I'm determined to read them all and I've been sneaking in other stuff here and there.
Unmasking a Duke by Ellie St. Clair on Kindle. Finished 09/13Arabella's father is an abusive, greedy tyrant who gives her an ultimatum, one of which she does not want to do. Andrew is the Duke's brother and he has sent him away to Scotland. The Duke is getting threatening notes and Andrew is trying to put it to rest. Andrew impostors himself as the Duke for one night and meets the beautiful Arabella at a masquerade ball. Their deceptions culminate until the end of the book. It was excellent! A sweet short story with exceptional characters. It holds your attention from page one until it unfolds at the end. It's predictable in some ways, and exciting and suspenseful in others. All the characters were strong and well defined considering it was condensed. A very enjoyable read.

The Cowboy Who Got Away ARC by Nancy Robards Thompson in paperback. Another book in the Celebration series tells about the renegade Campbell brother Jude, who left right 10 years ago to get away from his father and to prove himself as a bull rider. After injuring himself, he has returned to Celebration to heal and reassess his future. Especially after crossing paths with his old high school true love Juliette Lowell. Juliette has made a name for herself as an exclusive wedding planner. She has never found anyone to love like Jude, so after 10 years when he walks into the Wedding Barn, her heart and pass feelings do a somersault. I liked how the author brought back the characters from the other books and how she goes back in time to really get the reader up to speed on journey Jude and Juliette have been on to get where they on. A story of second chances, love, romance, acceptance and forgiveness. Another great book in this short series. It just makes me want more and more. 5 stars

Banished Love by Ramona Flightener for reviewSet in Boston 1900, Clarissa Sullivan is a very independent, headstrong woman for her times and doesn't want to end up marrying just to sip tea, gossip and sit at the arm of her husband. She wants love, family and to continue teaching. She was stood up at the altar 2 years before and just wants to move on with her life. Clarissa literally bumps into Gabriel McLeod, a carpenter who is building her uncles display in his store, bringing him down off the ladder with her on top of him. Clarissa and Gabriel begin a special friendship. This is a story depicting how society and upbringing influences young woman's lives and duty. Clarissa has to deal with an "evil" step mother and Gabriel's horrendous aunt. Clarissa and Gabriel push the norm for the time period and must pay the consequences. The author did a fantastic job writing about the times. She brought to life the times, the characters, the city, the characters. This book is about what family means, love and respect. I can't wait to see where this story leads! 5 stars

What You Wish For by Fern Michaels in paperbackHelen Ward has run away from her abusive husband who tried to kill her and her dog. Helen now has a new identity and place to live. She hopes she will be safe, but knows deep in her heart he will come after her and find her. She meets her new neighbor Sam Tolliver and finds herself trusting him. The characters are very strong. The suspense is amazing in this book! I felt the story line sometimes got too drawn out. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I felt it wasn't believable. I couldn't imagine a woman being abused this badly would trust or fall for someone so quickly. Or start a business on line with a Web page. Especially knowing your husband is a whiz with computers. All in all it was a fun book to read and a real page turner. I would recommend it knowing it probably isn't true to life. 3 stars
