I finished Feel the Heat by Cindy Gerard, Black Ops, Inc. #4, another really good story in the series. Here's my review.

I also finished listening to The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch Universe #17 and Mickey Haller #2, and enjoyed Harry and Mickey's first story. Here's
my review.

I'm now reading Any Day Now by Robyn Carr, Sullivan's Crossing #2, and listening to The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.

Bringing Them Home (Rosemont Saga, #5) by Barbara Hinske Bringing Them Home by Barbara Hinske.
The final book in the Rosemont series and was not a disappointment. The book follows the lives of those associated to Rosemont, Maggie, John, Frank, Loretta and the thugs that continue to bring the town and the people of Westbury down. Chuck Delgado is determined to steal, kill and bully all those in the town and who are associated to the embezzlement. This book is full of suspense, love, new and old friendships, family and forgiveness. I thought the ending was fabulous. I have been honored to read this series. I look forward to read more of her books.

Is There Life After Football? Surviving the NFL by James A. Holstein Is There Life After Football?: Surviving the NFL by Dr. George Koonce, former Green Bay Packer player - in hardcover. Finished 05/03
Former Green Bay Packer player George Koonce with James A. Holstein and Richard S Jones writes about the TRUE life of a Professional NFL players career starting with High School, College and up to the NFL until they are finished. Is there such a thing as "retirement" for the NFL pro's?
This is an amazing, interesting and many times disturbing story of the REAL LIFE of an NFL player. Dr. George Koonce, writes about his experiences and how difficult it is to put the pads away, voluntarily or involuntarily and go out into the real, normal world, after having lived in the NFL bubble for years. The camaraderie, the injuries, the special treatments, the grueling schedules, the loss of self during their playing years, then having to become regular people once it's over. There are many interviews with other players, coaches, and wives. Some giving their names, others wishing to stay anonymous. I am a HUGE football fan and a Packer fan and had no idea what goes on in the NFL, the struggles players have when their career is over. I feel every parent of a son in sports, or a teen age boy should definitely read this book. I am honored to say Dr. Koonce works where I work and I have the greatest respect and admiration for him. NOTE: A lot of statistics and at times I felt I needed a dictionary to follow with all the big words from Holstein and Jones. I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could.

♥ Joy Joy ♥ (joylia) So bad at keeping up with this lol. Here are my recommendations from mid-April to now:

Continued with Terry Bolryder's Rent-A-Dragon shifter series (which is a continuation of her dragon series). These are pretty enjoyable because they are easy, fast-paced reads that tend to have a mixture of romance and action. Free with Kindle Unlimited.
Iron (Rent-a-Dragon #2) by Terry Bolryder Titanium (Rent-A-Dragon #3) by Terry Bolryder

Really got into "The Sinclairs" series by J.S. Scott. Started listening to the audible versions (which were pretty well done) but ended up reading a majority of the series vs listening. These were all free (read and audio versions) with Kindle Unlimited.
The Billionaire's Christmas (The Sinclairs, #0.5) by J.S. Scott No Ordinary Billionaire (The Sinclairs, #1) by J.S. Scott The Forbidden Billionaire (The Sinclairs, #2) by J.S. Scott The Billionaire's Touch (The Sinclairs, #3) by J.S. Scott The Billionaire's Voice (The Sinclairs, #4) by J.S. Scott The Billionaire Takes All (The Sinclairs #5) by J.S. Scott

100 Cupboards (100 Cupboards, #1) by N.D. Wilson - Slow start. The writing was well done but I'll admit, I didn't expect to really like it because of the first half of the book (not bad just...slow). But it really picks up after that and overall, intriguing story and may continue with the series.

The Red Havoc Panthers series by T.S. Joyce is another shifter read that is fast paced and addicting. It's a continuation of her Damon's Mountains series that was started with the Saw Bears series. There are hits and misses, but so far, the Red Havoc Panthers is falling into the winning category.
Free with Kindle Unlimited. Red Havoc Rogue (Red Havoc Panthers, #1) by T.S. Joyce Red Havoc Rebel (Red Havoc Panthers, #2) by T.S. Joyce Red Havoc Guardian (Red Havoc Panthers, #4) by T.S. Joyce

Bumpy Road to Paradise (Paradise, Montana Chronicles) by Vanessa Gray Bartal - the first in the Paradise, Montana series. I thought it was a pretty nice story, though I thought some of the instances and writing were rough and rushed in various parts. Overall, though, would recommend and do plan on continuing on to the next book in the series. Free with Kindle Unlimited.

♥ Joy Joy ♥ (joylia) Dirt Track Dogs series was one I got into last year but until recently. the author hadn't put out anything new on this. Recently released the second book in the Second Lap part of this series and one I'd recommend to those who enjoy paranormal shifter stories.
Free with Kindle Unlimited.
Dirty Looks (Dirt Track Dogs The Second Lap, #1) by P. Jameson Dirty Ride (Dirt Track Dogs The Second Lap, #2) by P. Jameson

And a HUGE THANK YOU to Jonetta for tipping me off about Roxanne St. Claire's new "The Dogfather" series. I really appreciated the fact the author had planned to feature real rescue dogs and people on the covers, as well as donate part of the sales to a rescue in Florida where she lives.

But aside from that, the stories so far are really well done. Really enjoyed the first book but found the second even better. Wasn't really familiar with the author but now I plan to try more of her books out in the future.
Sit...Stay...Beg (The Dogfather, #1) by Roxanne St. Claire - My Review
New Leash on Life (The Dogfather, #2) by Roxanne St. Claire - My Review

Matched For Love (Rocky Mountain Matchmaker Book 3) by Tamra Baumann - 3rd in the series. My only real complaint on this is that the books aren't coming out faster. Haha. This book and the previous 2 in the series are free with Kindle Unlimited.

The Jade Owl (Jade Owl Legacy, #1) by Edward C. Patterson - warning! The first part of this book is slow and tedious..yet..interesting. The pace definitely picks up though and what started out as a seemingly long and excruciating read turned out to be exciting and really likable. Free with Kindle Unlimited.

Another series I came across and am getting really into is the "Everything But...Series" by Holly Jacobs. The whole series is free with Kindle Unlimited and well written and addictive (in my humble opinion of course). It does lean towards fast paced romance. That's fine but I feel in some of the stories, these were a little too rushed at times. But still, would and do recommend :) Everything But a Groom (Everything But...Series, #1) by Holly Jacobs Everything But A Bride (Everything But...Series, #2) by Holly Jacobs Everything But a Wedding (Everything But...Series, #3) by Holly Jacobs Everything But a Christmas Eve (Everything But...Series, #4) by Holly Jacobs

True Mates series is another addictive paranormal shifter series that I ended up falling in love with. Definitely a must read for fans of the genre.
Fated Mates (True Mates #1) by Alicia Montgomery Blood Moon (True Mates #2) by Alicia Montgomery Romancing the Alpha (True Mates #3) by Alicia Montgomery Witch's Mate (True Mates #4) by Alicia Montgomery Taming the Beast (True Mates #5) by Alicia Montgomery Tempted by the Wolf (True Mates #6) by Alicia Montgomery

Tin God (Delta Crossroads Trilogy, #1) by Stacy Green - free on Amazon. First in the Delta Crossroads Trilogy. Rated this 5 Stars because yes, it's that freaking good. I have the 2nd in the series but haven't read it yet..but really want to. Intense romance and mystery. It is tagged Thriller and though I agree with that, it's more on the milder side. But still - definitely recommend.

Sisters Red (Fairytale Retellings, #1) by Jackson Pearce - unique take on Little Red Riding Hood. Loved it. I was surprised it got a 3.65 rating on it. Maybe because it's a retelling, people were taken by surprise at the twist the author took on this. Either way, I'd still say check it out. Especially if it goes on sale (which is when I got it).

♥ Joy Joy ♥ (joylia) Finished The Viscount's Wallflower Bride and Loving Lauren and gave these both 4 stars. Definitely recommend.

The Viscount's Wallflower Bride is a historical romance book and 5th in the Chase Family series. Skipped the first book in the series (which is free on Amazon) because the 5th fit a challenge I am doing. I got this thanks to a heads up from Bookbub when it was free, but unfortunately it's not any longer.

Loving Lauren is the first in the West series and was really surprised at how easy of a read this was. Definitely plan on continuing with the series. This book is currently free for Kindle.

Decided to start reading this series from the beginning as I have read others and want to start from book one. I love Barbara Freethy's books and am not disappointed with this one. The story of the Callaway families lives over decades. Sara who lived next door and who was best friends with Emma Callaway. Sara has come home to see her estranged father, whom she thought never loved her and who she could never measure up to, to surprise him for his birthday. From that moment, there are fires, renewed friendships, love romance, sexual tension and most of all secrets. Aiden Calloway saves her and her father from a fire and begins all the past hurts, pains, memories and anger. Aiden is in turmoil over losing his best friend and co-worker at fire jumping. Now fingers are being pointed at him, not just from his other jumpers, but family. Two people who's hearts and souls needing mending. 5 stars

A Bride, a Barn, and a Baby by Nancy Robards Thompson A Bride, a Barn, and a Baby by Nancy Robards Thompson in paperback. "I am voluntarily reviewing an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
A night where two friends emotions are wired, too much bourbon and attraction causes a night of passion and an unexpected surprise. Lucy feels her fairy tale has come true, but Zane has different dreams and goals which may take him to Florida. He wants to do the right thing by Lucy and marry her to be a better father to their child than his father was to him. Lucy wants to marry for love, not obligation, even though she has been in love with Zane since she was a child. This romance is of course..predictable, but I just loved the two main characters. They were so sincere and well defined and the way the story wrote out was wonderful. I enjoyed reading more about the Wedding Barn and the families. It was a sweet, fast read. This is one of my more favorite books by this author. I would certainly recommend this book for a great read. I really enjoyed it so very much. ++ 5 stars

I love this series and although I have read a couple out of sequence, this is my favorite book so far. I just loved Max and Emma. Two very strong characters, very well defined. I love how Barbara incorporates all the rest of the families with the two main characters. The romance was predictable, but the story line held a lot of intrigue and suspense and of course romance. It was a fast read and a book that was hard to put down. I really enjoy the books by this author. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. ++ 5 stars

- Book 4 and 5 in the series. Book 4 was really good but I didn't enjoy it as much as I normally would because I watched the Angela Lansbury Mrs. Pollifax movie which mixed Books 1 thru 4 in it. Not just mixed, they might have just written a total separate story because they messed up a lot of things/characters in it (i.e killing off Robin when he really doesn't die and is integral in book 4).

Book 5 is two thumbs and toes up. It's where Mrs. Pollifax meets Cyrus Reed. *wink wink to those who have already read the series and know what this means*

The overall series is a 5 stars and one I continue to highly recommend.

Lawless (Jack's Stories, #0) by Nora Roberts Lawless by Nora Roberts in "The Law of Love" paperback. Finished 06/13
Jake Redman is half Apache, half white and can out shoot, out run anyone in the Arizona Territory. A drifter and a hard man he will save himself no matter what..even to killling. Sarah Conway has come to Lone Bluff to finally see her father whom she hasn't seen since he left her with the Sisters to go and find his fortune in gold and make a good life for her. His letters to Sarah are no comparison to what she finds. Lone Bluff is no place for an Eastern woman, and Sarah is no good for Jake. Sarah is a very educated and very independent woman and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. No one tells her she shouldn't or can't have. Jake has no tolerance for either. I absolutely loved this book. It had all the history, romance, intrigue, suspense and mystery of Nora Roberts books. Sarah and Jake were such strong, well defined, and Nora Roberts draws such a wonderful picture through her words of the Arizona Territory in the 1800's. Excellent book!! 5 stars

Drew and Ria meet for one steamy night on the "Island of Dreams." The next morning, Drew discovers Ria is dead from a boat explosion. Months later Drew is certain he see's her in San Francisco. Ria and her 16 year old niece Megan are on the run from Megan's uncle who is a big cartel boss. When Drew and Ria finally meet, they try to deny the attraction they have for each other, but Ria can't afford to have anyone blow their cover and be found. I found the book very enjoyable with the romance, suspense and drama. I like how the author incorporates all the other characters from the families in the story. The book was of course predictable in the romance part, but the ending was great. 5 stars
