I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet so I'll just say I completely agree. Talk about intense! And the great thing was there was a lot of conflict and drama (internal/various relationships including the external threat, as well as tying in one of the past back stories) but it didn't come off as rushed or jammed together.

That takes skill.

They were somewhat like a trainwreck for me I guess. I, like yourself, had a preconception of Sookie in mind and was slightly disappointed. However, I tried to force myself to separate from the True Blood series and found that I couldn't stop reading them. More or less to compare it to the True Blood series. Halfway through, I got bored with it but was determined to finish. LOL

Beautiful Storm (Lightning Strikes, #1) by Barbara Freethy Beautiful Storm by Barbara Freethy on Kindle . Finished 10/11/2016.Alicia Monroe became obsessed with chasing and photographing lightning since her fathers plane went down in a storm. During one of her shootings, she see's a woman and man arguing and possibly a murder. Afterwards she discovers a set of dog tags with the name of a woman who has been missing for two months. Michael Cordero is not only a friend with the missing woman since childhood, but is the number one suspect for her disappearance. Alicia and Michael are now on the path of trying to find Liliana Valdez. This was a suspenseful, mysterious and romantic book. The characters were strong, well defined and believable. It is also a story of family and forgiveness. I can't wait for the next in the series. 5 stars

Britney | 380 comments Sort of started The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #14) by J.R. Ward by JR Ward. Number 14 in BDB series. I just don't know if I'm ready yet. This series took over my life for a looong time and I felt sick when It stopped. Now I'm just not sure if I can handle it at this moment. This series is very deep emotionally at least for me, and I'm still afraid for really weird reasons maybe but I've been putting it off for so long and I hate being a coward for too long ;) so it's slowly but surely with another book to give me a chance to go somewhere else for periods of time if I need to so I'm reading

The Devil in Disguise (Bad Things, #1) by Cynthia Eden by Cynthia Eden on chapter 10 and really liking it so far.

I remember you telling me before when I brought it up awhile back and then obviously chickened out lol, thank you for that though! It does help! It why I went ahead and bought it the last time but something still kept me from reading it. I really don't know if I can even explain it right, just that I'm such a baby about being nervous/anxious about what's going to happen and the emotions in these books always bring me to the extreme. I guess I just feel like I need to be in the right place and time in life to read it lol. That's sounds ridiculous I know lol.

message 893: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments Lol Britney...for Bloodkiss or The Beast? Bloodkiss is her new spinoff series that is more about the BDB than all the newer characters she has been bringing into the series. This focuses on the Training Center, but has a big story for Butch and Marissa. It is intense in the beginning, but that is centered on the new trainees and the Brotherhood having to be badasses lol.

The Martian by Andy Weir The Martian just started by Andy Weir in paperback. Finished 10/18/16.
I was given this book as a birthday gift. I had already seen the movie. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters better and more of the story line that what was condensed in the movie. It was fascinating and exciting. I really want to learn more about Mars. I felt the author did a wonderful job describing not only the characters, but the planet and all the equipment. I loved Mark and his humor and bravery. He seemed very real to me. It was a great sci-fi book, exciting and suspenseful and funny. The only problem I had with this book was it was too scientific for me. I found myself skipping over all the scientific formulas and technology descriptions. Way over my head!! So reading it was very slow for me. I would recommend this book. 4 stars

Both lol, because I'm a chicken to read that too. Marisa and Butch were one of my least favorite couples, even though I liked Butch a lot outside of his relationship. That plus just my usual fears of reading further brotherhood. It's like when I read them I get to involved I have to keep reminding myself this isn't real life lol. It's a sickness with those books! I love them so much I don't think I've found any series to top it since I found them. I'm just being a chicken because of my intense emotions while reading them, even though I love that part of them just as much, and the fact that I've been reading non stop dark hunters AND made it to Ash, and those are books that pull the emotions out of me and even though I want to read them, and will love them when I finally do, I still wait and wait and then I will be mad I waited so long

Rebecca Madsen | 19 comments Some of my favorite authors are James Patterson, Christine Feehan, Presley Cole, and Sherrilyn Kenyon. I also really enjoy Harlequin books.

I'm currently in the middle of James Patterson's Kiss the Girls which is pretty good.

My brother and I were talking about books the other day and he asked me how I decide which to read next, which is a good question because I usually spend hours trying to decide what to read. But I told him the book just has to speak to me. Today he brought me a bag of new books (29 in total) and said the lady at the bookstore said that they were good and hopefully I would enjoy them. I don't know how long he was at the store but all of the books he bought were ones I don't have and they all look really good. Now I have enough books a whole month of reading.
