Just a Q.. how to add number of pages

message 107: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale 180 of 374. https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...

I think the GR programming does it for you at the end of your Challenge, Annesha.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... here is the link for the thread. Make sure that when you are adding books, you are on the last page. If you have been browsing through some of the posts, it is a good idea to refresh the page before you add your books, so you are starting from the correct total.

You can choose to just add a total of pages read - some folks do this once a month. You can type in the name of the book and author and pages, and add them to the total, or you can use the "add book/author" feature above your comment box to link the book. Generally, if you are listing more than one book in a post, you should include the pages for each book.

As one of the resident Number Junkies of the group, I actually have an excel spreadsheet where I track all the posts. This helps us catch any math errors that may happen, and I can let the group know how we are progressing towards the goal.

Well done Amber! I got a bit too far ahead when I had my target at 150, so increased it to 200.

Just read A Time to Run: Constable Sammi Willis #1 by Australian author J.M. Peace which brings me up to 97. *:D

message 112: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Now I'm SIX ahead, Sandy. https://www.goodreads.com/user_challe...

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments Well done Amber! I am now 2 ahead of schedule. Just reached 101 books for the year, just over half way for my yearly total of 200!

message 115: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 1191 comments Have read 49 of 55 and am currently 21 ahead of schedule. Last year my goal was 60 and I exceeded that slightly. L:ooks like this year I will be way beyond 55 or 60.

message 116: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenarrowood) | 718 comments 123/150 read so far - 47 books ahead of schedule :-)
I can hardly believe it....

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) 13/20 3 books ahead of schedule. I only challenged myself to 20 books this year because until April of this year I really couldn't seem to get into reading. I'm sure I'll surpass that.

message 118: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale 196/374, 5 ahead.

message 119: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 1191 comments I decided to leave the goal at 55 and am now reading book 58.

message 120: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I'm more ambitious than that, Gary, but I have to be since it's the only form of entertainment I can actually afford.

message 121: by Gary (last edited Aug 11, 2016 10:24AM) (new)

Gary Sundell | 1191 comments I'm thinking for next year I'll take a 2 year average in setting my goal. I have not read any doorstoppers yet this year, last year I had at least 3 as I reread volumes 1-3 of The Wheel of Time. I still plan on reading books 4-6 this year. I'm going to back off monthly mini-challenges in various groups to get to those starting next month.

In my case it has little to do with ambition, more to do with available time as I pulled between my law practice and spending time with my elderly parents trying to help at their house along with my sister. My dad is 91 and a WWII vet and my mom will be 89 in October.

message 122: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Family is more important when your parents are that old, Gary.

message 126: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Amber,
With all due respect.........I have to ask how you read so many books. 217 books, so far, this year is staggering to me. I commend you.

I just wonder how you fit so much reading into your daily schedule. I realize it is none of my business.......but it is a question I have ask myself many times.

What is your secret???? Do you never sleep????? LOL!

message 127: by Gary (last edited Aug 15, 2016 07:21AM) (new)

Gary Sundell | 1191 comments I have now equaled last year's goal of 60 books. 5 beyond this year's goal of 55.

message 128: by Amber (last edited Aug 15, 2016 03:05PM) (new)

Amber Martingale Yes, I do sleep, Ter'e, though not well and no that's not because of my reading. I don't sleep well due to a bad arm. I don't know WHY the arm hurts so damned much.

I read as much as I do because I do not have the financial means to do much else to entertain myself, other than 3 hours online at the library, Monday through Saturday. Plus I read while waiting for my med cabs on the way to and from doctor's appointments, while waiting in the doctor's office, while waiting for my turn at the pharmacy. And even while waiting for my laundry to finish at the laundromat.

message 129: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I have read 92 books so far this year.

message 130: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Amber.......that's one of the things I like most about you. You are "tell it like it is, Amber".

Books have always been my escape.........for whatever reason. My bookcases and my Kindle are buldging! So many books - so little time.

I carry a book, with me, wherever I go. As soon as I open my book......Hubs opens his mouth! Yak yak yak! Lol.

I have said.....soon as we have the main area of our house finished, which is very close..........I can really start organizing my hooking room. I am putting a sign on my door........"The Hooker is busy!!!!" I am putting a comfy chair in there........so I can read or hook during the day........and not be bothered.

message 131: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I hope you mean "hooking" in the craft sense of making a hooked rug. LOL.

message 132: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Do people still do latch hook? I have a wall hanging I did many moons ago....

Have finished my 94th book of the year.

message 133: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments LOL!!! Yes I hook rugs in the old style........one loop at a time. 100% wool, literally painting with wool.
Latch hook is totally different..........we all have our fav styles tho.
Amber.......I am too old to be the "other kind of hooker".

message 134: by Amber (last edited Aug 18, 2016 08:51AM) (new)
