Traci (bookplusheart) | 47 comments For the Year challenge, could the book be a YA/NA crossover? or YA with NA themes/language/Content?

Example: Everything To Me like this series?

message 53: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments That book is fine :)

Thanks... One more questions, (not challenge related) since I have you on here. How do we know if we have outstanding reviews?

message 55: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments If you send an email to newadultbookclub@gmail.com Micheala organises this and she can let you know if you have any outstanding.

You can include any books you have read in 2016 that are New Adult books unless stated otherwise.

Hanne | 758 comments 36. A book that is currently on the best-seller list: Does the book has to be, for example, a USA Today best seller or a best seller on Amazon in a certain category like Settling the Score by RS Grey a best seller is in sport romance at the moment?

We discussed this in a previous post. As long as it is on a best-seller list you can use it, we didn't decide on a particular list.

Dee | 851 comments Hello challenge members,
I noticed we don't have as much participation in the May challenge. Just wondering if you could give me some feedback eg. is the challenge to complicated? Are you getting bored of it? Do you have a lot happening in your life contributing to participation?
I'm not judging but I would like to know for future months on what would give us the most participation as I want as many members involved as possible plus I often get ideas for new books from the choices you have in your responses.
Thanks

message 66: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Leslie wrote: "How do we feel about Lifers by Jane Harvey-Berrick for a yellow book cover?"

Thanks Leslie.
It isn't really a yellow cover. How about - YELLOW - Watch over Me by Tara Sivec The Ever After of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #4) by Jessica Sorensen Eighteen 18 by J.A. Huss Four Years Later (One Week Girlfriend, #4) by Monica Murphy Make it Right (Bowler University, #2) by Megan Erickson One Song Away by Molli Moran

I always forgot to enter, but now I'm in. I wanted to write a review first. I love this kind of challenges. I makes me think about books or pick up books that I have on my tablet for a long time. Keep them coming ;)

Hanne | 758 comments Question about 6. A book by a male author: is it okay that the co-author is a man, like with A Lover's Lament?

Try and find a book with a solo male author, there are a few out there. Look at other members books for that have done that category. I was contemplating using A Song for Julia (Thompson Sisters, #1) by Charles Sheehan-Miles or Jane's Melody (Jane's Melody, #1) by Ryan Winfield

Okay. I was just scrolling to see what other members already read and I came across that book and remembered that I read it. Given that male authors are rare, I thought I could ask. I have other ideas for male authors now: Beguiling by Alex Lucian or a book by Scott Hildreth

Maureen (mleeper5) | 65 comments Is there anywhere to look about authors with the initials ML that are new adult? I know there Melinda Leigh, but she's mostly mystery... I don't think she falls under the new adult category.

message 79: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments I just googled, and looked at member bookshelves that had "NA" or "New Adult" shelves. This question will probably end up being an any author category as I'm sure we are not the only 2. So if you can't find one just use any author - maybe a YA author.

I don't know if you may switch the initials to LM (Dee?), but if so, Lex Martin only writes NA. What are your initials Dee?

Hanne | 758 comments I also found Michelle Lynn for ML! I don't find an author for you Dee, but I'll keep an eye out for it :)

message 84: by Maureen (new)

Maureen (mleeper5) | 65 comments Thank you, thank you, thank you, & thank you! I have read M. Leighton's The Bad Boys Series... DUH! Ha! I will have to look into Michelle Lynn as well. I haven't read anything by her, but I was briefly looking over some of her books. YES! :)

message 85: by Hanne (new)

Hanne | 758 comments You're welcome Maureen! And I think I've found a book for you Dee: Beautiful Persuasion by Demelza Watts. From the blurb it sounds like she just finished nursing school..

message 88: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Yes it can. Glad you asked. I am going to use it too ☺

Hi Adri, I think you have the categories mixed up. The three categories you listed each need to have a different book used
1. A book you started but never finished - this relates to any book you have started but either didn't like it and stopped or found something else at the time and can go back and read it now.
2. A book “everyone” but you has read - this one is for books that everyone else seems to have read but you haven't read yet. To find this one I would choose a book that a lot of people are talking about either on goodreads or your friends.
3. A book you own but haven’t read - this one is a book you own but not yet read. I have heaps of books at home that I have bought and not yet read. This category gives you the option to read one of those.

As for the trilogy, Fallen Too Far has the fourth book so it isn't a trilogy. Try Ash (Hive Trilogy, #1) by Jaymin Eve; Nocte (The Nocte Trilogy #1) by Courtney Cole; Forever & Always (The Ever Trilogy #1) by Jasinda Wilder; Never Never by Tarryn Fisher (however her last book isn't long enough). You don't have to choose all the same books from the one trilogy either

Its also good to check the other members lists as it might give you some ideas for yours.

Author with your initials - Never Stop Falling by Ashley Drew

message 92: by Hanne (new)

Hanne | 758 comments Dee, when checking at the end of the year whether the books are good or not, will you check if New Adult or College is with GENRES of that book? Because some books I consider don't have any GENRES..

message 93: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Do you mean with the yearly challenge will I check that each book is New Adult?

message 94: by Hanne (new)

Hanne | 758 comments Dee wrote: "Do you mean with the yearly challenge will I check that each book is New Adult?"

Yes, the yearly challenge and the books of the winner(s)

I generally check the blurb, genres, ask other moderators if I don't know or the explanation given by the member. If it is hard to tell if it is adult/YA or NA you can provide an explanation as to why you believe it is considered NA. Does that help?

message 96: by Mercedes (new)

Mercedes | 257 comments As I understand it, the main qualifier for an NA book seems to be the age range of the characters, that college, beginning of adulthood area, I've read a few books that are half during that period of life and half a few years after; they tend to end up in their late twenties for half the book. Would a book like this count? Here are the two I have in mind, for reference:

Moonshot by Alessandra Torre Ten (Men by Numbers, #1) by Ker Dukey

message 97: by Mercedes (new)

Mercedes | 257 comments 28. A book with a colour in the title

Does this means something like, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss (with both "Red" and "Blue" in the title)? Or just a book where the title art is in a color ie: Pretty Little Things by Teresa Mummert yellow title??

message 98: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Adri wrote: "Hi, anybody has any idea if Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick is new adult? Coz I have it at the bottom of my reading list and don't know if it is or isn't NA book.

Hi Adri, this is a YA book "Published October 7th 2014 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers "

The colour word is in the title. I used White Trash Beautiful (White Trash Trilogy, #1) by Teresa Mummert or you could do Deep Blue Eternity by Natasha Boyd .
