Evangeline silently took the dagger, watching the young man stand and leave the bedroom. She sat up, dug through her bag, and slid the leather piece onto her hips. She put the dagger away before curling back up again, pondering the assassin's strange actions. She would stay with the rebels until the war was over, as long as she had Lucas, she supposed. She soon fell asleep quietly, a hand resting on the hilt of her dagger.

After Alec had thanked Aubry, he left her room and inquired as to where the assassin and sorceress were at the front desk. He went up to the room and softly rapped on the door.

Ignoring Lucas' unhappy response, Alec still rolled his eyes. "Aubry and I are leaving the the inn for a couple hours. Stay here," he ordered before turning and leaving.

Alec was ready to punch the assassin's lights out for pushing him into the hallway, and although his face turned red with frustration, he remembered Aubry's words about staying peaceful, or something to that extent. He didn't start anything with the man, only staring at the closed door momentarily before heading to his room to gather his things.

For about another hour, Evangeline slept peacefully. Right until the moment she saw guards heading down these hallways, that was. She jumped awake, a hand on her dagger. She looked over at the young assassin and said, "It's time to go."

"Yes, I did. I think it's hardly time to discuss my magical abilities right now." She pulled her bag over her shoulder, peeking out the door. Her eyes glazed over white and she saw guards running up the steps to their floor. "Out the window," she ordered, her eyes returning to their normal green after she faced the assassin.

It took a second for Evangeline to get her bearings, but then she quickly moved over to the window. She looked down and then back at the door for a second before jumping down into the alley below- and Lucas.

Evangeline knew she wouldn't have to hide her face, but kept her face to Lucas' back anyway, wrapping her arms around him as he took off down the streets. She almost wished she had done something to cover her face but that may have given her away.
((Hey, I won't be active until upcoming Friday probably. Have a good week!))

Lucas looked around a moment, "Any idea where it might be safe?" he asked, since she was the one having the visions about the guards. He directed the horse to turn down an alley and slowly pulled to a stop. "Probably shouldn't travel like we're running from something" he said and looked around.
((Thanks))
Evangeline closed her eyes and leanes her forehead on Lucas's shoulder for a moment. "They're clearing from the outside of the town-in. So... Take Maj street over to Loid, then duck in the alley between the butcher and flower shop... No, book shop. At the end of an alley there's a gate but it's short. Can he jump? It might be open for deliveries this time of day..." Evangeline huffed a breath and sagged into the assassin. "I can't do any more. I'll get sick." Not that the king hadn't pushed those limits before.

Evangeline held tight to Lucas as the horse jumped the gate. She stayed as steady as she could, but kept her eyes closed. After a minute she asked hoarsely, "How far away is the camp?"

Evangeline cursed under her breath and focused her energy onto holding Lucas. If she didn't have the chains on, she could take care of the guards or possibility of being seen. Even though it went against her instinct, she forced a vision again. It was a moment before she said, "Go out the shipment exit, the one for wagons. There's a blindspot we can exit through a boxing company near it; it leads out of the city."

Evangeline didn't notice as they left town, looking an eye out when Lucas asked of her well-being. "Fine," she lied, closing her eyes again. She would let him know when she needed to stop.

Evangeline kept tight her new bodyguard, only opening her eyes to check for guards behind them. After she thought it was safe, and saw the approaching tree line of the forest, she dug her nails into the clothing of Lucas before realizing that wasn't communication. "Once you're into the woods, I need you to stop. Please," she added.

"I know." Evangeline stood and held her hand against a tree, looking from the tree line to Lucas. "Thank you," she said after a moment before turning and looking around at the ground. She picked a plant up and rubbed the leaves in her hand for a moment before pressing the mush to her forehead. After another moment she felt better and turned to Lucas. "Are you okay?" she checked.

Evangeline nodded and sat down against a tree while she waited. She made sure there wasn't any residue from the plant on her forehead, not wanting to be embarrassed. She smiled with the soft sun kissing her face, thinking about how long it had been since she was free.

Evangeline felt mostly fine by the time Lucas came back, and she told him as much with his question. "Thank you," she said again as she stood and walked over to his horse to mount.

Evangeline settled into the back of the horse, only one arm loosely around her guard this time. After a few moments she decided to speak up and try for conversation. "So... How old are you?"

For a moment Evangeline thought Lucas had ignored her question, but heard his reply in due time. "Twenty-two," she answered easily. She looked at the passing forest and was quiet for a moment before speaking up again, not wanting to be bored. "Who trained you?"

Evangeline closed her eyes in flinching at the mention of Lucas' brother's death. "I'm so sorry," she said quietly, looking over his shoulder to see if she could read his face. "What was his name?"

Evangeline leaned back again and pursed her lips. She waited a few minutes before biting her lip. "So why don't you just keep trying to kill him? Or is that why you didn't kill me?" She added the last part more quietly.

Evangeline frowned, although not sure what she had been hoping to hear. "All you care about is money?" she murmured. She sighed in the same manner he had, though not mocking. "Where's that going to get you in life?"

Evangeline swallowed hard, choosing not to reply as she took her hand off of his waist and just rested it on the build of the saddle. She wished she hadn't pried, but knew she couldn't take it back. At least she knew to probably just keep from talking about anything that might be touchy to the man from that point on.

Although Evangeline wanted to ask something else about the assassin, she didn't. She was about to bring up something else when her head throbbed terribly. "There's a river up ahead but the closest bridge is being inspected by guards. You need to veer south-west for a while and cross when the water dulls to a trickle, or we'll be caught," she told him after her vision cleared.

Evangeline kept her eyes to the direction of the bridge when they came upon the area, making sure there weren't straggling guards. Once they had passed over the river, she swallowed and spoke again. "The king's men murdered everyone close to me until I agreed to his terms. They started off with old playmates but grew closer and closer in relation the longer I held off." She twisted her right wrist's shackles absently. "My family told me that my abilities were too dangerous; that a few lives were saving thousands. But then the king himself came and tortured my family in front of me, one by one. All that's left is my sister; she was kept in a room somewhere in the castle until I said I Would join him. When I did, he killed her too."
