"I don't blame you. There are fourteen more people on the list. You never would have finished." Alec moved to look out the lone window in Aubry's room, surveying the square below. "We'll try to do two more before we head out to meet Kalle tomorrow."
"Don't touch me," Evangeline hissed as she raised a hand to hide her face, scooting away from her would-be attacker. "I'll scream." She didn't trust him -obviously- even if he was trying to get her to think he was being honest.

"If you try, you'll be dead before you get a sound out" Lucas said threateningly, his eyes revealing how truthful he was being with that statement. "Now if you don't want to come with me then I'll just fulfill my original assignment and be done with it. Or you can come with me and help the rebellion take down the king. Unless you like working for him" he said and jingled the chains around her ankles.
Alec ate his own sandwich, swallowing before answering. "He had better, or I'm out thirty-five counts in gold pieces," he told Aubry quietly, annoyance flashing in his eyes with the mere idea of this Scorpion being a hoax.
Evangeline 's breathing came ragged, and she peeked one eye through her hands over her face. She tugged the veil down quickly and frowned. "Of course I don't like helping the king. He's terrible." She swallowed hard and bit her lip, still leaning away from the assassin. "How do I know you're not trying to trick me?"

"You don't" Lucas said with a smirk, "but like I said you really only have on option here" he said and stared her down for a moment, really not giving her much time to think bout it. He pulled out his dagger and and twirled it around in his hand, "You have about five seconds to decide" he said and held the dagger firmly in his hand ready to take action if he needed to.
"Seventy counts," Alec said, finishing off his sandwich. He looked out over the city before looking back to Aubry. "Get some rest. We have a lot of work to do tomorrow." That was his version of 'goodnight' before he left the room to head to his own.
Evangeline barely waited a second before begging a 'fine', wrapping her thin around around herself. "But the king will come looking for me himself, and you'll get yourself killed," she warned, staring at the dagger in the assassin's hand.

Lucas smiled and put the dagger away, which is exactly why I'm taking you instead of killing you" he said and put the dagger away. Then he bent down and picked up hers, putting that one away in his belt as well. He covered his face back up with the cloth before holding out his hand. "We can with do this the easy way, or the hard way" he said.
Alec trudged along to his room, tidying up the room for departure the next day before crawling into bed. He wondered if the sorceress was already dead. Had the task been small? Did she put up a fight?
Evangeline stood. "Turn around. It will only take a moment for me to change," she told him, already gathering the most practical clothing she had. She peeled off her nightdress and put her tunic and bodice on, keeping the veil out of habit. "I don't work for the king," she told him a moment later. "I am a slave." She showed the enchanted shackles. "You won't be able to get these off." He probably wanted them on so he could drop her with the rebels, anyway.

If these shackles weren't on I would have already killed you, Evangeline thought, hating his condescending tone. She had to deal with it, though; he was her key to getting out of there. She couldn't believe it... actually leaving? "After you, asshole," she muttered, tugging on her boots.

Evangeline kept her eyes closed until the assassin spoke the second time. She swallowed hard and looked up. There were vines this side of the wall... She could handle it, but it would be tough with the shackles and chains. "I'll be fine," she grumbled, taking one glance back at the castle before finding a footing.

Evangeline didn't have a moment to grab her bearings when she felt herself falling before a jarring shock rang through her legs. She groaned and sat there for a moment, her leg aching. She hadn't ever had a sort of training, so jumping around like this -especially without the warning of the assassin's- wasn't in her list of capabilities, for the most part. She groaned again and stood, shooting a glare at the man tugging her around.

Evangeline huddled in hiding by the tree, watching the assassin closely as she caught her breath. She adjusted the veil over her face, still not remembering that she didn't have to abide by the king's rules anymore. She winced when she saw a guard be taken out. She had known those men for years, but the assassin didn't care. She wondered how much was on her head.

When he finished killing the last guard he put his dagger away and ran back over to the sorceress. "Come on lets go. More will be coming" he said and grabbed her hand and helped her to her feet before starting to move again.
Evangeline felt sick to her stomach by the time the assassin reached her again. She ran alongside him, though, not daring a glance back at the fallen men. "Do you even know where you're going?" she hissed to him.

"Fine." It was then that Evangeline took off her veil without plans to put it on later. It felt freeing to have the somewhat musty air kiss her face, but she turned away from the assassin and took off her bodice and skirts, pulling on the plain trousers and tunic as quickly as possible. She stuffed her old clothes in the bag and turned back to the assassin.

Evangeline slipped the strap of the bag over her shoulder as the assassin pulled her along. She tugged her hand free in annoyance but continued to walk with him. "I can walk myself," she muttered, although wishing she wasn't being so stuck-up, maybe. She was careful not to clank her chains, although any onlooker would probably just think she was the man's slave. She cut a glance to his face and studied his handsome features for a moment before a thought struck her.

"Yes, sir," Evangeline muttered sarcastically. She continued walking and thinking, turning right when the assassin ordered her to do so. She held her hands close in the fabrics of the tunic she wore to hide the chains and looked back at the man for a second before going on ahead.

"I can do it on my own," Evangeline muttered, scooping her boot into the stirrup to mount. she slid back behind the saddle, just keeping her hands on the leather to steady.

Although Evangeline really didn't wish for more contact with the assassin, she wrapped her arms around him when he took off on the horse, not wanting to fall out. "Evangeline," she answered him, turning her head to look at the passing city.
((What if we have Alec hire Lucas to be her sort of bodyguard, just so Lucas has to stay with them?))

((Yeah sounds good. ))
"As you wish," Evangeline replied quietly. She watched the passing scenery, keeping on hand on the assassin's -Lucas'- hip, and the other on her bag of clothes.

Lucas pulled to a stop just outside of some town, where he was suppose to meet Alec. He climbed off the horse and stepped away to let Evangeline climb off as well.
Alec had already dressed and was waiting down in the pub for Aubry. When he spotted her, he stood and passed a small package of food for her breakfast. "You're late," he accused, although she actually was just on time.
Evangeline was worn out from the ride, and slid of the horse with sore muscles. "Suppose they'll be pissed you didn't actually kill me?" she suggested, stretching her arms as much she could with the shackles before reaching up to brush her hair back.

Lucas shrugged, "Might be, but you're here so then I can just finish the job and still get paid" he said and shrugged again. "Not really a big deal" he said and looked around a moment. "This way" he motioned and grabbed the horse by the reins before starting to walk.
"Been ready for twenty minutes," Alec replied with an arched brow. He gathered his knapsack and pulled it over his shoulder. The assassin should be here any minute to get the rest of his money, then we'll head out to meet Kalle.
"Good to know you enjoy spending the time with me," Evangeline muttered sarcastically. She followed close behind the young man, avoiding the eyes of the guards that rushed past. The joke was on the king... None of them would know exactly what she looked like, although they probably would look for someone in shackles. For that reason she kept her hands in the folds of her tunic.

Lucas flashed her a smile before walking over to a hotel, "They're in here" he said and carefully escorted her inside and over to the bar. He looked around a moment before taking Evangeline hand to lead her through the crowd, didn't want to loose her in the mill of people.
"I'll give you the same answer as I did last night," Alec answered with a grimace-smirk. "He had better." He leaned against the bar and surveyed the crowded tavern, searching for the assassin. He soon spotted him and lifted an eyebrow. Did he have a girlfriend with him? He paused for a moment before scowling. He didn't .
Evangeline looked down at Lucas' hand holding her own and smirked slightly. "You seem to have a peculiar interest in my hand, Lucas," she murmured so only he could hear. Her smirk faded when she saw a brute staring at her with a savage glare in his eyes, although she didn't recognize him as a guard.

Lucas looked at Evangeline with a glare before pulling her along to meet with Alec. "Shut up and listen" he said before the rebel leader even had time to open his mouth. "This is a better deal for you, now you have the advantage, and the king with personally come looking for her, seeing as besides us, he's the only one who knows what she looks like" he said quietly, so only the four of them could hear what he was saying. "Though if you really want me too, I can go ahead and kill this young lady right now and collect the rest of my money, which I'll be taking despite what you choose."
Alec stayed with the glare on his face throughout the assassin's words, glancing at Evangeline a couple times.
At Lucas' last sentence, Evangeline wrenched her hand away from the assassin's. "You touch me again and I'll burn your eyeballs out," she growled softly. She glared at the rebel. "That goes for you, too." Neither of them knew she couldn't use her magic with the shackles, so they wouldn't know she was bluffing.
Alec shook his head. "You're not leaving her with me, Scorpion," he muttered lowly. "Because you got us in this mess, you'll now take charge as her bodyguard for the rebellion. You brought this on yourself." He glanced at Aubry and wondered what she was thinking.

Aubry sighed softly and looked between the men before letting her eyes land on the sorceress. "Hi, I'm Aubry" she said and held her hand out for a polite hand-shake, since the men were to busy having a pissing contest at the moment.
"Not going to happen either way." Alec didn't want to personally deal with the sorceress, yet having her in the hands of the rebels was a smart idea. "Your options are come with us as her guardian, or the young lady will kill you for us." Alec crossed his arms with an arched brow. "Wouldn't you rather help overthrow the king than assist his antics?"
Evangeline almost didn't notice the girl trying to introduce herself. She moved closer and gently shook her hand in fear of the chains clanking. "Evangeline," she whispered before her glance cut to the men again.

Aubry rolled her eyes, "Oh my god, you two, why not just wipe em out and see whose bigger" she said clearly very annoyed with their behavior, mostly Alec's though if she was being honest. "You," she said and pointed at Lucas, "You, we'll pay whatever you want, for you to be her bodyguard. If we don't have it now, we will once this is all over with" she said before turning to look at Alec, "And you need to stop threatening people, you want to work for you" she said before grabbing her breakfast and walking out of the bar to go back up to her room.
Lucas smiled and watched her go for a moment, "Sounds like a deal to me" he said though still gently lead Evangeline out of the bar, "Come on, we're getting a room" he said and went up to the counter.
Lucas held Evangeline so gently that she doubted he was actually going to kill her when she turned to listen to Aubry. Although she didn't smile, she admitted to herself that she already liked the girl. She mouthed a thank you before the girl turned.
Alec rolled his eyes and turned back to the bar, feeling very tense as well as grateful that Aubry had just saved the sorceress.
Evangeline yanked her arm out of Lucas's hand again but followed him to the inn's counter. "Fine," she muttered, throwing a waning glance back to make sure there were no guards searching the inn.

Aubry went back up to her room, planning to stay up there until, it was time to go and meet Mr. Kalle.
"More than your assassin brain could handle," Evangeline claimed, setting her bag of clothes on one of the beds. "If I put my old clothes on in the city, people might have a better chance of recognizing me," she reminded him, although also not wanting to change in front of the man. She moved to look out the window before sitting on the bed that had her clothes on it. "Why do you want to know?"
Alec stayed in the bar for a while before heading upstairs and knocking on Aubry's door, not wanting to just enter.

Aubry sighed softly, "Come in" she called before eating the last little bit of her breakfast. She stood up to toss the garbage in the trash before turning to look at Alec. "What do you want?" she asked. "Not supposed to meet Kalle for another hour"
"Maybe someday you'll see," Evangeline murmured, glancing at the shackles for a moment before laying on the bed. After a moment she sat up and held out her hand. "Maybe I have my dagger?" she asked, her eyes straying to the blade that was as pretty as it was deadly. And magical, honestly. She had a sheath for it on the dresses in her bag.

Evangeline groaned and narrowed her eyes before laying back down. "Fine," she muttered. 'Fine' seemed to be her favorite word that day with Lucas. She brought her knees to her chest and closed her eyes, very aware of how exhausted she was.
((Haha I just realized I didn't reply Alec's part))
Alec shrugged his shoulders. "I just wanted to say thank you for swaying the assassin downstairs. Somebody might be dead by now if you hadn't," he explained.

Lucas heard the clank of the dagger hit the ground and smirked slightly. As he stared down at her an idea hit him, and he put the dagger away, "Not here to hurt you" he said and pulled the blanket off of her gently. Then he slowly pulled the cloth that covers his face off to look down at her. "I was hired to kill you, but I have a better idea" he said deciding to go with the honesty route.
