⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) In one of the other groups I'm in, I had a historical series picked for me to finish out, which is a really good thing in light of the SOGM this month! I'll be reading Carnal Gift and Ride the Fire by Pamela Clare!

Lara | 2335 comments Oh good! I have lots to choose from :-)

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) I don't read historical romance much but I've heard good things about this series so I'm going to read:

Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas

Molly (molly32) | 104 comments I'm in - like I needed an excuse to read more historical romances.
The books I'll go for are The Rogue Not Taken (Scandal and Scoundrel, #1) by Sarah MacLean and Dukes Prefer Blondes (The Dressmakers, #4) by Loretta Chase . Can't wait!

Katariina (katariinao) | 5 comments I have a question about Lisa Kleypas' books. If I recall correctly, the hero from Devil In Winter is a villain in previous book. Anyone remember that book and would it be good to read them in order?

I definitely say to read the series in order. All the couples stories begin in the previous books. You miss a lot if you don't read in order, IMO!

Thanks for the info. I have already some books in the series. I guess I have to order the rest (I usually read historicals in paperback).

Molly (molly32) | 104 comments I'm done with the challenge - The Rogue Not Taken (Scandal & Scoundrel, #1) by Sarah MacLean was not my cup of tea (and that was bitterly disappointing, since I have been looking forward to this for quite some time). I'm not going to stop buying Sarah MacLean books because of this one disappointment, but this will teach me to read the reviews before I leap into it with high expectations.
Dukes Prefer Blondes (The Dressmakers, #4) by Loretta Chase was better that I expected (although the POW was choppy and slightly confusing at times, it was a satisfying and lovely romance.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, Molly! The only Sarah MacLean book I've ever read didn't work for me so I've never been tempted to try again!

Bookcrazy | 327 comments I've read Lord Dashwood Missed Out (Spindle Cove, #4.5) by Tessa Dare which was great. Then I read the series start A Night to Surrender (Spindle Cove, #1) by Tessa Dare , which started good, but the heroine got a bit on my nerves at the end.

Ella | 6 comments I'm not really sure what the rules are, if there are any, since I couldn't find them. Anyway, i love HR. I always comeback to this sub-genre after I've read something really intense like dark romance or something really sad. I'm going to read The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie (MacKenzies & McBrides, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Heard a lot of praises regarding this one so i'm eager :)

No rules at all , only that it has to be historical and romance!!

The madness ... is a great book! Enjoy, Ella!

I think I'll join you, then I'll read Sweet Release (Blakewell/Kenleigh Family Trilogy, #1) by Pamela Clare , Sunny's rec

.•*¨`*•✿ ✿•*¨`*•. Christine .•*¨`*•✿ ✿•*¨`*• Finihsed both Dukes Prefer Blondes (The Dressmakers, #4) by Loretta Chase and The Lady's Command (The Adventurers Quartet, #1) by Stephanie Laurens

I enjoyed Dukes Prefer Blondes (The Dressmakers, #4) by Loretta Chase as much as the previous books.

The Lady's Command (The Adventurers Quartet, #1) by Stephanie Laurens I found didn't have as much romance as I was expecting and I didn't enjoy it near as much as Black Cobra or The Cynsters

message 36: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 744 comments I finished Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood . Anne Flosnick ruined this book for me. I am so pissed!
She was not right for this audio.

At least I have Kaleo G on this one: Sweet Release (Blakewell/Kenleigh Family Trilogy, #1) by Pamela Clare

message 37: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Finished Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood the story was a bit different from Julie Grawood's usual story line - (usual: hero forces the heroine to get married in chapter 1 or 2 and takes him the whole book to realize he loves her) I enjoyed reading it.

Listened to it via audiobook this time around. I'm surprised at what I remembered and what I forgot. Totally forgot that the hero was so flawed. What is the significance of that? LOL!
