I read This is the Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett. A great insight into how she became a writer.

I'm currently in the middle of reading "Thoreau, Philosopher of Freedom: Writings on Liberty." I've read a little Thoreau here and there, mostly in high school and college (which was a long time ago). So, I thought this would be a good time to revisit his writings.
It might seem silly, but I'm reading The Psychology of the Simpsons: D'oh!. I love reading about psychology, and it can be really fun sometimes to see the analysis on favourite characters.
I read The Prophet since the write-up described it as a collection of poetic essays and it's been in my TBR stacks forever. Glad I finally got around to reading it! The edition I read was less than 100 pages, so it would potentially be a good option for that category if anyone's looking for a way to check that box.
Just finished Half Empty by David Rakoff, and I really liked it! I was worried that I wouldn't, as lots of people compare him to David Sedaris, who I don't care for, but I found Rakoff's writing style to be much more appealing to me.

I do like Sedaris (other than the last 2 books), but I think Rakoff was the better writer. It is hard though to read a lot of this after his death.
