It's one of my favourites - a little hint: The author is deceased.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments Do I need to provide another hint?

Gee that really narrows it down Leonie! :)

message 159: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments So, if you look at my books, you'll see that the author is represented multiple times.

He's also famous for wearing a black hat.

Yes, you're on the right track, Julie.

Maybe consider books including the kingdom of Lancre.

Carolyn | 9840 comments I think this might be from one of my favourite Pratchett' s Leonie, is it Wyrd Sisters. I hope so, as it might take a while to go through all his books :)

(My second guess would be Lords and Ladies)

One of these days I am so going to read that whole series again. I still remember clearly reading the opening pages of the very first one and being totally delighted with it:)

message 169: by Carolyn (last edited Dec 22, 2015 02:32PM) (new)

Carolyn | 9840 comments Wayhey! I was so tempted to run and check my copy (but I didn't!)

I started reading the series again mid last year so it's not that long since I last read Wyrd Sisters. I love the plays on Macbeth! They are still just as delightful the second time round Phrynne, perhaps even more so because you know the characters so well.

Ok, mine's an easy one that quite a few people should get:
"Every seven-year-old deserves a hero."

message 177: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2164 comments OK, it's the first part of an award-winning trilogy (part #3 not yet published, but overdue).

message 178: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9840 comments Can we ask what genre Andrea?

message 179: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2164 comments It's historical fiction. And when I said award-winning, I probably should have said prize-winning.

Oh it is....such a big book. I usually put those books to one side...so I can understand

I read this one in my teens, when I didn't have any fear of big books back then ;)

message 191: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments This was also a prize winner - but a stand-alone. The second sentence is more illuminating than the first, but then that probably makes it too easy!

"Today I'm five."

Yes, I noticed you didn't like it, Phrynne! Well done on guessing. I don't think I'd be able to remember the first line from books I've disliked!

Your turn.
