It's one of my favourites - a little hint: The author is deceased.

Gee that really narrows it down Leonie! :)
So, if you look at my books, you'll see that the author is represented multiple times. He's also famous for wearing a black hat.

I know, I know... such a helpful hint wasn't it? I've added another one now :)

Maybe consider books including the kingdom of Lancre.
I think this might be from one of my favourite Pratchett' s Leonie, is it Wyrd Sisters. I hope so, as it might take a while to go through all his books :)(My second guess would be Lords and Ladies)

Well done, Carolyn! Wyrd Sisters it is!
Leonie wrote: "Also one of my very favourites :)"
One of these days I am so going to read that whole series again. I still remember clearly reading the opening pages of the very first one and being totally delighted with it:)

Well done Carolyn..and welcome home!! :) I totally crashed last night after posting here, too tired even to read! :0
Wayhey! I was so tempted to run and check my copy (but I didn't!)I started reading the series again mid last year so it's not that long since I last read Wyrd Sisters. I love the plays on Macbeth! They are still just as delightful the second time round Phrynne, perhaps even more so because you know the characters so well.
Ok, mine's an easy one that quite a few people should get:
"Every seven-year-old deserves a hero."

You mean...."almost eight year old"?? ;)
:) I was only revisiting this this morning on someone's review, so I will leave it for someone else to guess ;) Great story btw!
I haven't read it yet, but I think it's My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman.
Oh great! okay here's mine. It's so easy, it's just a matter of who will get in first ;)
'Scarlett O’Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were.'
Brenda wrote: "Wow Mish how did you figure that out???!!!!!"Haha! It was a bit of a fluke to be honest with you. I looked at Andrea's bookshelf and kind of thought Wolf Hall looks like an award winning book....hahaha!
Brenda wrote: "Wow Mish how did you figure that out???!!!!!"Okay Brenda what's my first liner from....you should know this one ;)

Surely it has to be Gone with the Wind?

You got it Kathryn :)
I LOVE, LOVE this book (and the movie) I should read it again at some stage.
Your turn.

I've never read it... The size is a little daunting!
OK, thinking, thinking...

Oh it is....such a big book. I usually put those books to one side...so I can understand
I read this one in my teens, when I didn't have any fear of big books back then ;)
This was also a prize winner - but a stand-alone. The second sentence is more illuminating than the first, but then that probably makes it too easy!"Today I'm five."
Brenda wrote: "Mish wrote: "Brenda wrote: "Wow Mish how did you figure that out???!!!!!"Okay Brenda what's my first liner from....you should know this one ;)"

Sorry, Brenda!
OMGoodness....you pinched my answer Phrynne!!! lol At least I don't have to search for a book now;)

It was an easy one for me because I really disliked the book and the way the child spoke. Don't shout at me though because I know everyone else loved it:)
Phrynne wrote: "It was an easy one for me because I really disliked the book and the way the child spoke. I don't think I'd be able to remember the first line from books I've disliked!
Your turn.
Another one everyone has read!
First the colours.
Then the humans.Thats usually how I see things.
Or at least how I try.
