Jenn Update to message 21: I've completed 9/18 so I'm halfway to my goal - woo hoo! The latest two I completed are Fraud: Essays and The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer. I loved the latter even though it was a long, hard read. I did not enjoy Fraud.

I'm starting Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action today.

Jenn Update to message 21, I've completed Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action

It was a good read, but not as applicable in my job field as I'd hoped it would be.

I've now done 10/18. I'm not sure which one I'll pick up next.

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Hello All, Happy September! It is my favorite month of the year! Partially because my birthday is coming up, but mostly because fall starts, and I love all the fun the end of the year brings. School starts, sweater weather, snow! Lots of time to read.

I know I'm a few days late with August's statistics, but I was out of town away from my computer, so here they are: as of today, we have 135 participants. We have read 368 books of the 1997 pledged, and 4 participants have completed the challenge!

Great job everyone!

Bookworm with Kids I was wondering if your randomiser threw up later books in a series than you had actually read, would it be acceptable to substitute the early books in the series for this challenge? Several of the Inspector Morse series came up and some are more than half way through the series. Any problems with me substituting the early ones?

Absolutely not.

message 398: by Jessica (last edited Dec 30, 2016 08:31AM) (new)

Jessica R. | 549 comments I've decided to join this challenge late. The randomized quarterly challenge was wonderful for me as I read a few books that I probably would not have gotten around to for a while. I would like to do 15 books from my TBR pile. Five books per month for this challenge is reasonable for me since I'm averaging 21 per month YTD :)

TBR Randomizer Challenge (Late Start)

✔ 1. The Book of Obeah
✔ 2. Summit Lake
✔ 3. Ten Tiny Breaths
✔ 4. 'Til the Well Runs Dry
✔ 5. The Addictive Brain
✔ 6. The Velvet Rage
✔ 7. Left Neglected
✔ 8. The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion
✔ 9. The History of Love
✔ 10. The Innocent Ones
✔ 11. Haunted House
✔ 12. Keep Your Friends Close
✔ 13. Tell No Lies
✔ 14. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
✔ 15. Ghost Gifts

15/15 - COMPLETED!

message 399: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments UPDATE:

(NOTE: I edited my goal down to 15 as some of the books on the list I deleted from my TBR and some I just don't want to read this year.)

9/15 (revised 9/25/16)

2. Foundation
3. The Gathering Storm
4. A Game of Thrones
7. League of Dragons
11. Letters From People Who Hate Me
12. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
13. God Help the Child
14. The Outlaw Demon Wails
15. The Burned Bridges of Ward, Nebraska

message 400: by Karoline (last edited Oct 03, 2016 07:59AM) (new)

Karoline Lien (karolinelien) | 47 comments I would like to join this, better late than never.

I'll try for 3 books.

1. Beneath a Marble Sky - John Shors
2. The Remedy: Robert Koch, Arthur Conan Doyle, and the Quest to Cure Tuberculosis - Thomas Goetz
3. And After Many Days - Jowhor Ile - Expensive/not so easily avaiable in Norway
4. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

I actually don't own any of these - yet ;-) So will look and see if the library has any of them or if I will need to buy them.
