It was just the tower and the wires that run to the poles that got damaged. Nothing going to the houses at least. But without anything working from the tower nothing else would work. There is a section that doesn't have service yet. But they're supposed to warn us when they temporarily shut off service to get it fixed. And it should be only a couple hours. Next trick... I'll have to think about it and let you know, Catherine! LOL
Thank you, JoAnne. I appreciate you stepping up for me in my absence. I may have times during the next couple weeks I won't be available but it's like 2 hour blocks here and there. I expect things to be better now.
so...I am exhausted from work! work, work, work! I need a holiday...except that I have stinking jury duty for another 8 weeks! won't be done til 11/7 :(

In CT if you show up one day and don't get picked to be on a jury you're good for 3 years. I almost got on a death penalty case last year. Would have been on it from end of January through most of March going 4 to 5 days a week! Glad I wasn't chosen.
hopefully you'll find some time to read
going to read now - first chance I've had most of the weekend
waiting to hear if we're meeting my sister and her family and some friends for dinner

In NY you have to be selected as a juror or an alternate to get the reprieve. For grand jury it's 8 years. Regular jury is 4. I was in the middle of physical therapy before my knee surgery too during this time. I hope it goes quick for you and you get that holiday soon!

That's crazy too. It used to be 4 weeks here and you had to show up every day and get chosen and interviewed for cases during that time. It happened to me once and it was hard since I missed work that whole time.
This makes my last jury duty seem really stupid. It took me longer to get to the courthouse than it took for jury selection, trial and verdict. We found her guilty.

regular jury is one day/one case...but grand jury is 18 weeks! one day a week...but still!
we don't do any specific cases...grand jury just decides if a case should go to trial...so we see tons of cases...mostly drugs, assault, or burglary
JoAnne wrote: "Catherine wrote: "so...I am exhausted from work! work, work, work! I need a holiday...except that I have stinking jury duty for another 8 weeks! won't be done til 11/7 :("wow - are you on a ca..."
yeah...that's how it works for regular jury....and if you're not picked you get to go home with time served at the end of the day....grand jury is different...if you're not picked for that...you still have to go down and wait to be picked (possibly) for regular jury! that I didn't know..
I only have a little problem...and that is that I had jury duty last year(regular jury)...and was not picked...so theoretically I should not even have gotten the summons for grand jury...I should have been exempt for 3 years!

In CT we can send in our paperwork showing we served and we will get pardoned if it's during the three year period.
well...they ask questions about your abilities...but no questions about whether or not you recently served....and I had to show up...and even there they don't consider that as an excuse for being let out! :(

When my son was young and I was a stay at home mom I could call and use that as my reason for not serving. My husband and I have both been called during the 3 year grace period after serving and I have never had a problem stating I had served (with the documentation) and was able to get it waived.

Turns out the book I'm almost finished reading for a review - The Accidental Duchess Book Four of the Fairbourne Quartet - fits this challenge. I started it yesterday and will finish it either tonight or right after work tomorrow since I haven't been able to put it down.
Week 6 - roll 10; spot 47; Read 4th in a seriesFinished 5/27/14
The Accidental Duchess, Book 4 of the Fairbourne Quartet by Madeline HunterRating: ★★★★
Review: Interesting historical romance set in the late 1700's in England. Lydia was a character that did not fit the mold of a woman of society or the ton. She was much too independent, did things that were controversial like going to gaming halls and riding off alone to meet others giving her aunts the slip. Have to go back and read the first three books of the series to get the blanks filled in although it had enough background information that I could easily follow. Nice closure but an epilogue or a few more chapters would have been great!
Week 6
Rating: 3 stars
Challenge: Off the purchased list.
Review: There was no sense of closure. The only real progression made within the story was Allison's understanding of what was really happening. The book was just a set up for the next in the series. If there had been a side conflict that was resolved so I could feel like the characters had made some sort of progress I think I would have liked it better.
I am finished with my book :)
4th in series :0Rate: 5 stars
Review: well..I am really loving this series. I love all the tension created between Kate and Curran. really makes me want Curran for myself! I can't wait to get to the next book to see what crazies the two of them will have to take on! Kate seems to get herself into so much trouble...without even trying! and Curran, although he can be a petulant child at times (well..he is a man after all!)! really does seem to love Kate, despite all her faults and his. I expect them to have a very passionate relationship!
Now that I have more than just a few minutes at one time to do something...JoAnne, again thank you for the work you did in my absence. I'm going to set up the post for the week I missed and get it added to my original post so I'm not confused. If you like, I can teach you how to do the linking? It's not that difficult once you know what you're doing.
Week 5: Read a book 3 or 7 in a series. Alternate title: Location - Italy Catherine: Review
Julie: Review
Rene: Review
JoAnne: Review
Gianna: free pass :(
That would be great - I'm technologically challenged on most things. I'm impressed I can do as much as I do.Thanks for posting last weeks stuff. At least I know Jenne accepted how I did it and remember that's what our free pass was for - no sad faces allowed!

Review:
Been wanting to read this for a while. Will be reading the sequel.
Cop put on the case of BDSM murders and finds out more about himself than he ever thought. I really liked the characters, especially Myah and Ben. At the beginning, I liked the fact that it was based in my hometown, until it seemed like the author was just naming off random parts of the city. The end had a great setup for the sequel but could also be complete in itself.
Just to let you ladies know... My next 2 weeks are going to be extra busy...pending weather. I may have mentioned this before and if I did, I apologize. I'm an assistant coach for two softball teams. They typically have practice on Monday or Wednesday and then a game on Friday. Well, it seems to rain every time they've had a game. There season started 6 weeks ago. They've played once so far. For the next two weeks I'm going to be at the ball field just about every night between the two teams to get make ups done. So if I'm only bouncing in and out that's why.
Week 6 Read book 4 or 7 in a series. Alternate title: purchased
Book 7 of Assassin/Shifter series

I have been waiting for this book. You learn about James and Derek starting in the first book of the series. And you watch the tension build between them until you want to scream, "Will you just get together already!" In a way it reminds of
in that aspect. This series just keeps getting hotter and hotter. Can't wait for the next one!

Guess we wouldn't be reading these books if they weren't published - LOL! Have a good day. Off to do a bunch of errands - took the day off work since I'm having some repairmen here and had to be home.
I'm leaning towards reading
Big Sky Wedding (Parable, Montana, #5) by Linda Lael Miller. It's book 5 in a series and a reread for me.

Review:
This reminded my why I stopped reading mysteries but provided the best duo I've read in a while.
Mysteries: I hate the fact that I second guess myself on solving the mystery and end up being right the first time. Which means the author did a good job of trying to avert my attention...which I guess is sort of the point, but it still upsets me.
Ty and Zane have a hate/hate relationship with just a tad of hate at first sight thrown in. However, they provided a lovely break from the insta-love relationships that are everywhere.
