hunger games is the standard for all dystopia. but for a Sanderson fan I recommend reading steelheart.
The Broken Empire Trilogy by Mark Lawrence is absolutely fantastically written and interesting - medieval-dystopia. :)
The Last Book in the Universe is my favorite dystopian. It leans a little more post-apoc, but it's really good, even if it is short.
I have found a pretty good YA dystopian that I have recently enjoyed and would recommend. The Iron Butterfly By chanda Hahn
Silo series by Hugh Howey for sure (Wool Omnibus, Shift and Dust) and they are not only 50 pages novellas as they grow bigger, page wise. Also, Reckoners series by Sanderson (Steelheart and Firefight at the moment, third book coming in 2016).
Christopher wrote: "well wool omnibus is ok if u enjoy reading 50 page novellas."The Omnibus includes all five, so it's one continuous story.
Hunger Games, 1984 is a classic. Divergent is a bust. DO NOT READ IT UNLESS YOU ARE FORCED TO. It will disappoint you greatly!!!! Steelheart could be considered a dystopian novel.
Christopher wrote: "Red rising is good dystopian. The author Pierce Brown writes books of equal quality as Sanderson!"Can't wait for morning star! Have you joined the book talk yet? It's right here, if not
H20 (also called the Rain) classic dystopian. But even better is the darkest minds trilogy by Alexander bracken
Well, if we're talking about dystopians we can't ignore the 3 classics: brave new world (Huxley), 1984 (Orwell) and Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury). Any of these is worth reading and rereading
The BEST dystopian/sci-fi book I've read so far is Red Rising, by Pierce Brown. But I haven't read any classics like Fahrenheit 451, 1984 or The Handmaid's Tale, so, what do I know? xD
I have such a long list for this question 😂- Skyward
- Steelheart
- Hunger Games
- The Selection
- Divergent
- Uglies
- Nil
- Under the Never Sky
- Matched
And there’s more but I’m having trouble recalling all of them there’s too many 😆
Oh, and how could I forget Fahrenheit 451. There’s also the Legend and Wild Card series by Marie Lu.
The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey. That is a pen name for Daniel Abraham (Long Price Quartet, a must read though not Utopian) and Ty Franck. So good! Don't judge it by the show.
Some great dystopians:The Alliance by Gerald Lund
The Giver and Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Alas Babylon by Pat Frank
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
