SOLVED. UF or PNR book [s]

The MC is a bodyguard. She may or may not have any magic or 'be' magical (i.e. part Fae, etc.). The book opens as she's on a a job which goes sideways and she gets bitten. I don't remember if it was a were or a vampire.

It is the 1st of a series that I can no longer find in my 'Read' books, or perhaps I never added it (shame on me). I would say it was written in the last 5 to 6 years at the most.

I loved this book, and had forgotten it was in this series. As I got to some of the more recent works, they weren't, IMO, as entertaining.
