This is actually a query for a friend, so here's all the info I could get from her. The novel is a debut novel by a male author, currently in paperback. The book is about an institution for troubled teens, who suffer from suicidal tendencies or drug addiction - that sort of thing. The institution is run by a man, she thinks. The cover was divided into squares - she thinks ninths - and each had a different image. One had kids in duck masks. Hopefully someone recognizes this!

I'll check with her, but she seemed very sure it was by a male author and was a debut novel, so I'm guessing not. Thanks for the suggestion!
I recommend that your friend should ask the library if they have a record of what she has checked out. Most libraries will have this information on their system especially as it is so recent. My local library will show everything you have borrowed if you login online. (I'm also a librarian!)
possibly A Really Awesome Mess or The Program both are newer books about suicidal or troubled teens. Although The Program is written by a female and A Really Awesome Mess is co-written by a male and female.
The library said they had no record of it since it wasn't inter-library loan, but that they would try and figure out the book title too. And I'll ask her about those two books - thanks all!
Esme, is your friend still looking for this book - or did she find it (what's the title and author)?
No, but unfortunately it's been so long that I'm not in touch with her anymore, so is there a way to take this thread down? Sorry, guess it's a mystery that wasn't meant to be solved
I would be stunned if it is not That's Not a Feeling as Lou suggested. It seems to be a perfect match. Maybe this once could be moved to Possibly Solved?
I'd say Possibly Solved is a good call! Do I move the thread, or does someone else? Sorry, never moved a thread before!
