The Oath of the Vayuputras
question
Destruction of Devagiri

I was deeply disappointed towards the end. The reason i was drawn to this series was because of the author's notion that every God might have been a man elevated to the status of god by virtue of his karma. But Shiva's decision to wipe out an entire city cannot be justified. The destruction of the somras facility can be justified but wiping out an entire city seems like an act of a common man. And that too as a revenge for assassinating Sati.
Also i cannot digest that Maharishi Brighu and Parvateshwar easily gave up on their respective endeavours.

I agree with you. Because in all three books we read the line 'Anger is your real enemy' so many times, yet in the end we face destruction of entire city just for revenge.
I totally agree to your point. I was upset for 2 days after finishing the third book of Shiva trilogy, The oath of vayuputras. But Shiva is not a god as we see, he is a human, his karma is what makes him different from other humans, ie into GOD.
Also when a character is considered as god then we readers assume that he is flawless. It is not exactly how it works. The epics of India viz Ramayana and Mahabharatha does not depict the best of the lords Rama or Krishna. Epics also depicts the mistakes Gods do.
All through the first two books of Shiva trilogy we have seen the love shared between Shiva and Sati. If Shiva had not shown any negative reaction for his wife’s demise , then probably we would have found the ending to be unnatural. But a corner of my heart wishes Sati need not have died.

I absolutely agree with you.I was also so disappointed at the end.I feel shiva acted so selfishly for his wife. But may be from author point of view,i think he is not sure of how to end.Or the god shiva is meant for destruction..so,he thought this would be the best ending that would depict shiva's character.Anyway,as a reader,I am not getting the satisfaction of completing the series.
