Yes, I noticed the theme. It should help keep me cool for the next wave of hot weather.

I think I will go with Winter Holiday.

Amy | 2241 comments Lahni wrote: "Thanks Amy! Its tough to choose between those! I'm going to have to think abut it!"

The only one of those I've read is She's Come Undone which I liked. I picked Time Will Tell because of its high rating and My Name Is Asher Lev because it was written by the cousin of a childhood friend of mine. I'll be interested to see what you choose.

message 220: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i remember liking My Name is Asher Lev when I read it in high school

message 221: by Lahni (new)

Lahni | 660 comments I've read and liked other Chaim Potok books but My Name Is Asher Lev is the hardest one for me to track down. I already have the others. I just need to see what mood I'm in when I finish up the ones I'm working on!

message 232: by D.G. (last edited Dec 31, 2015 07:21AM) (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments I can Marina! Give me a few minutes...

message 233: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments Marina - Here are your picks! For some reason, all the books I picked for you have some sort of humor...:)

A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift - Funny but so right at the same time.
Fool by Christopher Moore - Have read other books by this author and I laughed a lot so I figured this would be the same
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen - This is probably my second favorite Austen book. Her most lighthearted novel so I don't think it gets all the respect it should, I totally loved how she made fun of the whole Gothic genre!

Enjoy and have a wonderful new year!

D.G.

I just want to acknowledge everyone who's participating in Bookopoly & are responding to requests so promptly! I'm so glad to see that this challenge can run pretty much independently with such proactive participants :D

Just an FYI - Catcher in the Rye is now an owned property. Congrats to Charity! Please see the Owned Property links to request a book for this spot on the board.

And, I would like to echo Tien's comments in the post above. You all are great.

Lastly, I promise to have the closed request list updated by tomorrow.
