Any games go in the games folder. If you want me to start a thread then say what you would like the game / thread to be called. Otherwise help yourself. Just make sure the rules are clear. :-)

Heather Burnside (goodreadscomheather_burnside) | 385 comments Hi everybody. I've just got back from a week in Spain. The weather was terrible. We only had one good day, which was the first day. After that, I never got warm. Apparently the weather was lovely in Manchester while we were away but we seem to have brought the bad weather home with us. :(

Well, that all just sucks, Heather. Sorry your vacation wasn't nicer. Hopefully spring will hit Manchester full force soon!

Yes, hopefully. No worries, it's always a bit hit and miss in the spring but now that the children are older we will be able to choose our dates in the future instead of having to go in the school holidays.
I told my son that I met a retired US doctor online and he asked me what your specialism was but my memory is so poor that I couldn't recall.

Apparently he hasn't had that many lectures on infectious diseases up to now. However, he has found it an interesting subject to date. He's currently at home revising hard for his 2nd year exams.

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments No rush for him, Heather. I didn't even have an infectious diseases rotation in medical school. It wasn't until I was a first year resident, and I fell in love with it fast! Tell your son to study hard in med school so that he can get his residency of choice.

A great song, done so well with great words and a great rapper.

Patricia | 1266 comments Saw this on a reviewer's post and it describes me to a tee! So I'm posting and if anyone else has this madness, please share and let us know. Have fun!!!

"when this came into the store, i thought "huzzah" because i already own two of her other books that looked really good. of course, i have not read them. this is the way i operate - i buy books and i squirrel them away until it feels right to read them, frequently owning several books by a single author who looks good to me, without having anything upon which to base that impression.it is a very peculiar kind of madness."

message 4935: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Boyd | 152 comments Thank you Christine, Jean, David and Sean, I'm glad you enjoyed it, I think it should be played in all schools worldwide, not just as a message to the bullies that they are uncool, but also to those who are being bullied, let them know they are not alone, and that they should speak up.

yes Pat, this describes me perfectly too! I have over 600 unread books sitting on my shelves......just in case! When we moved house last year my husband made noises about getting rid of them - until I threatened his TV remote!

So sorry, Sonya, for your loss.

message 4940: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Boyd | 152 comments Sonya, I lost a dear friend last year, and was struggling to come to terms with her death, when someone gave me this poem, it helped me, so I hope it will help you.

As I sit in heaven
And watch you everyday
I try to let you know with signs
I never went away
I hear you when you’re laughing
And watch you as you sleep
I even place my arms around you
To calm you as you weep
I see you wish the days away
Begging to have me home
So I try to send you signs
So you know you are not alone
Don’t feel guilty that you have
Life that was denied to me
Heaven is truly beautiful
Just you wait and see
So live your life, laugh again
Enjoy yourself, be free
Then I know with every breath you take
You’ll be taking one for me…

LOL Sandy. I know I hoard books all the time. I'm worried "they" (whoever that is) will get rid of my selections and I won't be able to get them in the future if I wait. Silly!

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Sonya, so sorry you lost your friend. When my Dad went inor the hospital a few months back, I buried myself into the same book.

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments No Pat, we're not silly, just prepared!......I just checked my credit card and I also spent over $100 on kindle books last month - oops!
I cannot go into a thrift shop without coming out with a bag of books....I take two back in to donate and come out with 10 (and a jigsaw or 2 - but that's another story!)
Besides, you are right about "them".....you never know when or where they may strike. You just have to look at all the book burnings that have occurred throughout history. Perhaps we should "hide" our stashes? lol!

message 4947: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments Oh, they will have to knock me over to get to my books for burning!! I always find bookstores when we are on vacation and those are my souvenirs. I write where and when I purchased my books on the inside title page. If the book is from home, I don't write anything inside. The luggage gets heavy!!
