Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Heaven received a new angel yesterday afternoon. Our Topsy was finally taken by the bladder cancer. We believe it went to her lungs as she started having difficulty breathing Monday night. Our vet came to the house and helped her over the Rainbow Bridge. The loss of this kitty is devastating, and I believe a part of me died with her. I will miss laying on the floor with her staring into my face with those most beautiful green eyes. "The look". All animal owners know "the look". She managed one more "look" for me yesterday AM, before the sparkle left for good. She will be in my heart always until I see her again.

message 4073: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments Oh I'm so sorry Chris, that's very sad news. It's heartbreaking to lose a furry friend. I know how you feel, she'll always be in your heart.

My new kitty is called Buffy. It's really strange because many years ago we had a tortoiseshell which we named Buffy. And now we have Buffy #2. as that was already her name! I put a couple of photos of her on my profile page : )

I'm so sorry Christine. Can understand your devastation. I sensed something might have been wrong. Sending you huge hugs x You know where I am if you want to talk.

message 4075: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Christine, there are no words that can describe the pain and suffering you must be going through. Any animal lover will totally understand and have compassion for the situation you are dealing with. Enrique and I both send our love and hugs. May Topsy rest in peace with no pain in Heaven.

She will always be remembered...and be in your heart and memories forever.

Love Sue OXOX

And a favourite character...

Chris, I'm so sorry about Topsy. She had a grand life with you, was superbly loved, and she'll always be with you. You must have an amazing vet, and I'm glad Topsy was in her home. You have my deepest sympathy.

Ah, thanks, Kerry, so sorry for your loss of Taz (love that name). Topsy was 13. How old was Taz? When do you find out about your adoption application. Getting a new kitty is better than getting a new car in my opinion.

I'd just found out tonight that another regular member has left the group. Someone who I thought was enjoying it here. The reasoning being that there are just too many threads to get around. I'm painfully aware that not everyone is tech savvy or wants to scroll through thread after thread so CAN YOU PLEASE SAY IF THERE IS TOO MUCH GOING ON HERE. IS IT TOO MUCH TO GET AROUND?

A group without members is no group so say your piece, please - thanks.

I have said this earlier, there are far too many unarchived threads.

I also think we shouldn't be opening threads just for any topic. I am guilty of that too. What happens is that new threads have an initial burst then they die down.

The chatter thread should be a catchall thread for any and every topic except those that have serious legs.

I myself have reduced my time on here drastically.

So sorry to hear about your loss Christine. Our animals are such an integral part of our lives, each and every one will always have a piece of our hearts.

I have had no problems with the group. Belonging to two groups, one thing I did was to stop email notifications. That was just to much email for me. So I just check notifications on the Goodreads site.

message 4098: by David (last edited Mar 18, 2015 02:42PM) (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments There are a lot of threads, but I don't find it a problem. I visit the ones I like most and occasionally look in on others. I've been busy for the past few days (sorry Chris, I'll forge a note later), so my absence has nothing to do with the dynamics of this group.

I have been in other goodreads groups with very few threads, to my mind they are the ones that go stale, and consequently the ones I end up not visiting.

message 4099: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall Christine so sorry for your loss I can understand your devastation :( I still miss every one of mine and although I love the pets I have now they will never replace the ones I lost in my heart I just make space for the new ones.

Sorry I know someone else was rejoicing getting a new kitty too - I also have a tortoiseshell buffy cat she is the first cat we have had that climbed the curtains and terrorised the dogs lol wish her well in her new forever home

message 4100: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall with regard to the number of threads I don't mind them. I go into the ones i want to and don't go into the ones i don't want to. on some occasions i will venture in to new threads that i previously haven't visited cos im bored or i cant reach my book or am just being nosey that day
