In years is perfectly correct. It means getting old. 'Getting on in years' would have been the best sentence but authors do take liberties with prose.Basically authors write the way narrators think and none of us 7 billion in the world think in full, grammatically correct sentences.
On that LC book again, good to see another book written in the present tense. My first book is in present tense and I thought long and hard about it.
I love Linda Castillo.
I'll be starting Gone missing soon, really missed her books.
Reading a good, important, but really emotionally draining book.
*sigh*
I just want to get back to gruesome murders.

Kim my last book was more crime/murder than action and so is the forthcoming one.The clue is in the title- Flay.
But I have to say the research can become nauseating.

Great book Kimberley.
Enjoyed both
Gone Missing 4 stars
Her Last Breath 4 stars, just slightly stronger.

Oh dear, missed the word 'book' out! Oops! I've heard that book is different in feel focusing on teenagers, I may skip to the next. This is going to sound wrong but I like Linda's gory murders!!!

thank you Kim. pm me your email and i will gladly send you the 3rd.
the 3rd is currently ranked 1354 on the Amazon.com site and that's across all genres. i'm pretty happy about that ranking since Amazon has more than a million ebooks in its Kindle store.

I'm looking forward to reading your first book Ty. I don't read that many books that are written in present tense so it will be interesting. :)
I agree David, what an achievement Ty! Thank you !! I will send you my email :)
Well done,TY. Love that feeling of being appreciated.

Ok, so I set up a netgalley account and requested a couple of books. My first request has been denied due to a lack of a 'blog'. Being as I am not very computer literate, setting up a blog was too time consuming and confusing. Costs money too if you want a certain template. Facebook and Goodreads does not count as a 'professional' reviewer. LOL Discouraging. Oh well.
Freda! I don't have a blog!! Every email publishers send out is a standard generic one. It's very hit and miss. Request at least 5 - 10 books and see how you get on.
Christine wrote: "@Sharon, House Hunters is on right now and they are in Aberdeen, Scotland. NICE!"actually that's a place I have only ever read about but have never been - one of my favourite authors writes books based in that area
I signed up for a Netgalley account as well Freda and I was rejected for two books I requested because I also don't have a blog but I was approved for two books so go figure ....

For those who don't have blogs, I think once you build a good collection of reviews on goodreads, your approvals should go up.
Ok, so here is another question for ya'll. Without messing up my monthly and yearly challenges, how do I add/review a book I've already read, say, 2, 3, or 4 years ago.
I did notice Brenda has a 'read long ago' shelf, but when you mark it as 'read', it marks it on the yearly challenge.
Should I do it anyway? lol Don't want to cheat on my challenge. :D

Go To My Books, click on the Shelf read, it should have the columns date read, date added. Under date read there is a edit button, click on it and you can change the date you have read the book. If you mark it outside of the current year, it will not be counted in the challenge for this year.
Hope this helps.
You can edit the

I've also read most of the Reacher series and there are so many, I've forgotten which ones I read and haven't read. I don't mind long series in books, but some of these series are really long. Reacher, Kay Scarpetta, FBI Thriller C. Coulter, Harry Bosch...these books are over 10 books long. lol
Confession time. I, Janet, being of soundish mind, hereby declare that I really cannot be bothered to list my back catalogue of read books.. :-D
Freda, knock yourself out, girl, with those listing! :-)
Gopal, thank you for being our IT man on here! :-)

No thanks necessary, Janet!!! Being a nerd has it advantages... :)

Janet wrote: "Said on the basis that a) I can't remember what I've read and b) I have four kids and no brain cells left!!"Don't worry Janet. When they are all grown and half gone, your last remaining brain cell starts to replenish itself and soon you are reading a book that speaks 'deja vu'. I am living proof! LOL

Sorry I've only just got back Ty. I took my dad out for his 86th birthday yesterday. I've already got the first book but I'll sign up to the list too. Thank you very much for that. :)
Not sure if it is relevant to the conversation, still getting the hang of Goodreads, Currently bracing ourselves for a cyclone, feeling confident the house will be fine, been through this many times before, our house is built to withstand a cat5, but usually means loss of power for days afterwards, lots of rain, have all the supplies required, including plenty of batteries for the torch, to read the supply of books I got from the library.

I see all is well here! Freda, I used to keep track of my read books on paper (well, on computer documents) so I had dates. Some long ago books, I just estimated. I used to read Danielle Steel, too. I don't think I could now.

Hi Sean--
Glad you enjoyed the book--thank you! I know there are some typos in the book (though I can't recall them off the top of my head.) I have had some very astute readers point them out, which is nice because I can get them corrected before the trade paperback comes out, so I appreciate it.
About the one you pointed out. It's an awkward sentence, but not a typo. I was just trying to say (not so eloquently) that the Troyers are getting old and she knows they may not hear a quiet knock and it might take them a while to get to the door. Maybe I should have said: "...getting on in years."
In any case....thank you for reading and enjoying the book. And thank you very much emailing me about that awkward phrase. I always try to do my best but invariably something always gets through.
Take care and enjoy your Spring!
Linda
