Excellent, Sharon! Could you explain a little more about the divisions? If your team is good, you get bumped up to a tougher division? What kind of league is this? Who do the teams represent? I take it you play indoors in the winter?

message 3152: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall the country is split in two so you have east and west districts. we play in west district in division 3 as we got promoted having been second last year and 2 teams went up. am not sure how many go down think its either one or 2 depending on how many teams are in division 4 which is the bottom division in our district. so as you go up through the divisions the teams should get tougher to play. we play outdoors as its a winter sport - we also train outdoors. we scots girls are made of tough stuff lol (hence why I have a cold lol)

message 3153: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Jeez, do you play in snow cover? So if you are a bottom team in div 4, your team could be disassembled? how are the tesms formed-- you just get a bunch together from anywhere or from a particular geographic area, or is there a draft of some sort. Is this pro/semipro or amateur?

message 3154: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall no if there is snow or ice on the pitch the game will be cancelled and re-scheduled. if you are bottom of div 4 you just stay there we don't disassemble teams as we want to keep the leagues going. the teams are just local area teams that have applied for entry into the leagues. most are made up of a mix of ages from 14 up to whatever age you feel you can still keep up lol its purely amateur. people will generally play for the closest team to their geographical area

I used to play softball and basketball in the city leagues and church leagues when I was growing up in Tennessee. The high school teams for girls didn't start down south until after I graduated so I didn't get to do any of that stuff, which would have been awesome. No field hockey or any track apart from phys ed and I loved those things. So happy for girls/women today to have those opportunities.

message 3156: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall we have quite a good mix of ages so its good that way. we have a couple of younger ones who come to training but they cant play in the league until they reach 14 I think it is due to insurance etc but at least they coming to training and hopefully they will stick with it

I completely agree with you on the breastfeeding debate Janet. I'm going to put myself out there and say that i actually get slightly uncomfortable and embarrassed when the 'breast are best' brigade come out with their bits literally hanging out in the middle of a shop, breastfeeding their child, with the sole reason of doing so because it's their right. Yes it is, but like you said, can't a little consideration be shown to others in a public space?
I breastfed my own twins, and yes sometimes they needed feeding when we were out and about, but I would sit privately in our car and do it, and not flop my bits out in the middle of Tescos. We all know its best for our babies t breastfeed, but we don't all need an eye full. Just my opinion, sorry if I've offended anyone.

Hello Kimberley.

Very quite last two days.

Two reasons, one my uncle and auntie are over to Jersey.

Second I had another Hypo attack yesterday, while out walking with my Auntie and uncle.

I think it could be the powerful steroids and antibiotics I am on for this virus.

Lucky we were going with my uncle and Auntie to their hotel for a THREE Course Meal !!

Took all evening to feel better.

Aymen Ben cheikh Sean i hope you ll feel better, take care. Last year i almost passed out while jogging, i couldn t see and i breath, i had to lay down on the ground for several minutes.

message 3162: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 235 comments That happens to me if I jog. It's old age and lack of fitness in my case, though. ;)

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) I have a huge cramp in my thumb today from holding up a nearly 700 page book until 4 in the morning.

message 3164: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Hey Aaron! How are you?

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Aymen and Kath, I have had some of those scary jogging spells in the old days before I switched to other forms of exercise. A good possibility is not being hydrated enough. Try getting in a glass of water 30 minutes before you go out there. And as you guys probably know, caffeine will comtribute to dehydration.

Dr. Chris

Sean, I am so sorry you comtinue to have the hypoglycemic spells. Steroids generally raise your glucose, but active infection will definitely screw up your numbers comsiderably. Be careful and quit scaring us, dear friend. You better be carrying something sweet on you at all times, and I know you know that. XO

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Cold enough for you Marian? Haven't checked the temp yet, but last night was -35 to -40. Don't plan to go out...just read.

message 3187: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Eeek! That's too cold. It was beautiful here in Kennewick yesterday. It was sunny and in the 60s!

message 3188: by Marian (new)

Marian | 462 comments Yep..its -36 here at the moment Sue..good day to stay in isn't it.Are your dogs liking this weather?

message 3189: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Yeah, I know. My brother and his pregnant wife live in Boston and they've been hit day after day. We've only had one day of snow and that was in December!

message 3190: by [deleted user] (new)

Has anyone read the new SJ Watson that's new out? I was really looking forward to this but so far i haven't heard good things ...

message 3191: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I know. Even when we do get snow it never stays. We have these things called Chinooks that rush through and blow it all away.

message 3192: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Not that bad. Unless you're driving across the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington when they're blowing!

message 3193: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Nope! Every once in a while one might form but they never hit ground. It's usually out in the desert.

message 3194: by Freda (new)

Freda Malone | 418 comments Here in Colorado we've been quite lucky this year. Had one small blizzard and a few snow dumps and flurries. the temps just a few degrees below. Our lowest temps reached -29 and that was in 1875!! Every few years we get a good blowing dry a$$ blizzard, snowed in, cars covered completely and everything shut down but that hasn't happened in a while, we're due for one. READ READ READ lol I feel for you guys!

Did I mention that I've got my new Kindle Paperwhite. A much nicer version to my older model. The built in light makes all the difference. The one annoying thing is that I had groups of books in different collections which haven't carried over to the newer model. Something Amazon have now rectified with newer models. Doesn't help me now though, I'm going to have to organise them again! :-\
