Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Sean, you have really been through some close calls! So thankful you are here, and not just because we would not have this group and all these wonderful friends if you hadn't made it.

I am pretty sure pulmonary emboli is what got my mom in November.

Ter'e - sorry to hear about your hip. Sometimes the simplest things will be what causes the problems. Rest and hopefully you have some nice drugs to make you not care about the pain and relax the bad words. I've had bouts of sciatica and when my back is so painful, there's not much you can do but take care of yourself.

Sean - be so very careful with your diabetes. Take time to snack, know that your hard work lowers your blood sugar, and for me, just being cold seems to lower sugar levels. I realize you know all of this but a friendly reminder to care for self as well as others. Take care and thank God for our caring spouses.

Jean | 2387 comments I am a few days behind on this thread! Autumn, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a close family member is hard. I lost my mom in November, and even though it was really a blessing as I believe she was really suffering, sometimes I still can't believe she's gone (and this was just two weeks after my partner's mother died).

Te're, I know your recent health issues have been a struggle. Glad you're hanging in there. Anne too. Sean - goodness! So scary! Glad to hear that you're doing okay.

It's amazing that books bring us solace and escape and happiness when life gets challenging. They've also brought us this bond of friendship, with people in nearby cities and all across the globe. Thanks, everyone, for sharing your lives with us.

So well said everyone.

Thanks for caring and sharing.

We are not just a book group, as said so well by Jean, Pat we are all friends across the world.

And also so many that have tougher times, and hard life, I consider myself lucky to have a good life, with just a few bad ones in between.

Who me?!? Did somebody say my name?!? My ears were itchin', how dare you wake me up. *chuckling*. Yes, lives are difficult, painful even. Something I tell my kids everyday. Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. I'll never know the 'why's' but I wouldn't be here on this earth if I couldn't handle it. Twins, disabilities, my deafness, loss of a child, cancer survivor, .....and now my poor car *chuckling*. Genuine, caring and good friends, that is what keeps me going. :) Oh, and of course, the books! We can't forget the books! (laughing).

Sean, I think the core group here is actually becoming more than a group of friends. It is starting to really feel like a family.

message 2872: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2387 comments Yes, Janet, look out for Christine. She's going to be CIA in her next life, right, David? She does know how to look after as well, I think. Smart phones are way too complex for me! I'm not dyslexic, but I'm like Will Trent - I'd probably tape my broken phone together before I'd buy a new one, just so I wouldn't have to figure out how to program it!

*tears up laughing too hard, holding ribs*. Oh good grief Jean!!! You crack me up! I love Will Trent and if you want to tape up your phone, you can! *laughing STILL* Too funny!!!

message 2874: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2387 comments Well, my last phone fell into the toilet at Walmart, so even duct tape couldn't save that one! My current phone is a pay-in-advance, no frills phone. No camera. No internet. Very basic. I only text when I have to, and I do it the S - L - O - W way because I haven't figured out the shortcut way yet....I sent my twin brother a birthday card about the old-fashioned way to have fun, and it was a bunch of folks crammed into a phone booth. Kids today - do they even know what a phone booth is? Er, was?

Don't feel bad Jean, I don't even have dyslexia and even I have to have just the basics. My kids know more about the phones, ipads, ipods, wii, xbox, and tablets better than I do. And they have disabilities! God I feel old and ignorant. Eegads Jean, I do feel for ya. Get a voice software like Trent! Easy as pie. :D

Sharon Mccall ok so does anyone else have really weird dreams or is it just me?

last night I was trapped in a school full of folk that all turned out to be aliens who had been around for hundreds of years and it was like hotel California couldn't get out. but then I was in a car being driven up a snowy hill to some other building to let them all out

as I said weird!!

Oh, you guys, it's great to have company in this. I have many vivid movie vignettes 365 nights a year. Not a single one of them is straightforward. I hesitate to admit this, but sometimes I enjoy going to bed just to see what sort of cool cinema will be playing that night.
