Yes I am sure lucky to have survived that so happy I was so fit it sure helped, sorry for your loss.
Sean, so sorry to hear the ordeal you went through. Take it easy and take care of yourself. I also believe in fate.

Ter'e - sorry to hear about your hip. Sometimes the simplest things will be what causes the problems. Rest and hopefully you have some nice drugs to make you not care about the pain and relax the bad words. I've had bouts of sciatica and when my back is so painful, there's not much you can do but take care of yourself.

Sean - be so very careful with your diabetes. Take time to snack, know that your hard work lowers your blood sugar, and for me, just being cold seems to lower sugar levels. I realize you know all of this but a friendly reminder to care for self as well as others. Take care and thank God for our caring spouses.

Nicely said, Pat. Caring friends too.
I am a few days behind on this thread! Autumn, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a close family member is hard. I lost my mom in November, and even though it was really a blessing as I believe she was really suffering, sometimes I still can't believe she's gone (and this was just two weeks after my partner's mother died).Te're, I know your recent health issues have been a struggle. Glad you're hanging in there. Anne too. Sean - goodness! So scary! Glad to hear that you're doing okay.
It's amazing that books bring us solace and escape and happiness when life gets challenging. They've also brought us this bond of friendship, with people in nearby cities and all across the globe. Thanks, everyone, for sharing your lives with us.

I concur with what Pat, Chris, and Jean have said. I would also like to say our friendship is here for those like Lynn and Freda whose lives are difficult on a day-to-day basis. I admire their strength and good humor. I wish good health and fast healing to everyone.
So well said everyone.
Thanks for caring and sharing.
We are not just a book group, as said so well by Jean, Pat we are all friends across the world.
And also so many that have tougher times, and hard life, I consider myself lucky to have a good life, with just a few bad ones in between.
Thanks for caring and sharing.

Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. I'll never know the 'why's' but I wouldn't be here on this earth if I couldn't handle it. Twins, disabilities, my deafness, loss of a child, cancer survivor, .....and now my poor car *chuckling*. Genuine, caring and good friends, that is what keeps me going. :) Oh, and of course, the books! We can't forget the books! (laughing).
Freda, you are simply a remarkable woman...Sean, I think the core group here is actually becoming more than a group of friends. It is starting to really feel like a family.
Christine wrote: "Freda, you are simply a remarkable woman...Sean, I think the core group here is actually becoming more than a group of friends. It is starting to really feel like a family."
Thank you Christine, my kids think so too, sometimes. Yes, I agree, it feels like family. *hugs*
Janet wrote: "Well I feel looked after here in many ways! :))"Looked FOR, I believe you meant to say, Janet. lol...
Hmmm! That's probably closer to the truth. Playing around on new smartphone is taking up some time!!
Janet wrote: "Hmmm! That's probably closer to the truth. Playing around on new smartphone is taking up some time!!"Oh,that has to be fun, for sure, Janet. A droid, I presume?
Yes, Janet, look out for Christine. She's going to be CIA in her next life, right, David? She does know how to look after as well, I think. Smart phones are way too complex for me! I'm not dyslexic, but I'm like Will Trent - I'd probably tape my broken phone together before I'd buy a new one, just so I wouldn't have to figure out how to program it!
Jean wrote: "Yes, Janet, look out for Christine. She's going to be CIA in her next life, right, David? She does know how to look after as well, I think. Smart phones are way too complex for me! Well, my last phone fell into the toilet at Walmart, so even duct tape couldn't save that one! My current phone is a pay-in-advance, no frills phone. No camera. No internet. Very basic. I only text when I have to, and I do it the S - L - O - W way because I haven't figured out the shortcut way yet....I sent my twin brother a birthday card about the old-fashioned way to have fun, and it was a bunch of folks crammed into a phone booth. Kids today - do they even know what a phone booth is? Er, was?
was talking to my coach at hockey game today and he was telling me about a couple of kids on his team who didn't realise that the smell coming from the cooker was the gas and not the pasta they were trying to cook. couldn't even tell if the pasta was ready - would hate to think how they going to cope if / when they ever move out of their parents' house lol

I feel that way about my kids too. I have a sneaky feeling I'm gonna be taking care of my kids well into their 40's Sharon. Pity me, pity me. :D

And they have disabilities! God I feel old and ignorant. Eegads Jean, I do feel for ya. Get a voice software like Trent! Easy as pie. :D
LOL Freda i remember my mum telling me a story about old neighbours from years and years ago that the mum died young and the kids couldn't even boil an egg and she vowed then that all her kids would be self-sufficient cos if anything happened then at least we would not starve. so guess its not a new thing

I have the song I don't feel like dancing stuck in my head - my cat is standing on the remote and changing the channels cos she thinks its bedtime and I am comfy and cosy on the chair and cant be bothered moving

ok so does anyone else have really weird dreams or is it just me?last night I was trapped in a school full of folk that all turned out to be aliens who had been around for hundreds of years and it was like hotel California couldn't get out. but then I was in a car being driven up a snowy hill to some other building to let them all out
as I said weird!!
Wow!!! this thread is definitively lighting it up.. the comments and banter are as fluid as water in a river, changing, turning but always moving...So the count so far is we have newbie smartphone owner - Janet
A non-smartphone owner & weird dreamer - Sharon
CIA next lifer - Christine
In rare form - Freda (my book pal of the month)...
I'm not a newbie smartphone owner. Have owned one the last two years! Have upgraded to a better model as a contract renewal. Switched from a Samsung Galaxy to LG. :-)
Soooo glad you mentioned dreaming!! I dream vividly every night, drives me nuts. Like a movie playing in my head. I've been known to wake, go back to sleep and continue where I left off!!! I know, I'm weird! :-\
Christine defo CIA - that kicks butts!! :-P

Janet wrote: "Been dreaming vividly ever since I had kids. The weirdest thing!!"Oh, you guys, it's great to have company in this. I have many vivid movie vignettes 365 nights a year. Not a single one of them is straightforward. I hesitate to admit this, but sometimes I enjoy going to bed just to see what sort of cool cinema will be playing that night.
Janet wrote: "Been dreaming vividly ever since I had kids. The weirdest thing!!"I've had heartburn since I had kids!!! Darnit! :D Good morning!
